Some were talking about his ability to get into the box and find the space to get into goal scoring positions, how much of a better player than Scott Parker for us etc..

He has scored ZERO goals this season, he scored ONE goal last season.

He has never been any good since he left Leeds and I still can't believe some think he was a good player for us.

WTF has this to with how crap we are now ?

You STILL trying to have a go at Bowyer ?

WHY ?

Because people were claiming he was a hell of a lot better than he was, a season on at a new club is a good time to look back. Basically he has done the same as he did for us, not much. Dyer gets slated for running around like a headless chicken but he adds a lot more to the team than Bowyer would and without the risk of losing it and getting sent off/suspended.

Shiite player, overrated when he hit his purple patch and was never a "fantastic" player in a million years. A player with low ability but high work rate, good at getting in the right attacking positions, even better at showing dreadful technique and application when it came to things like shooting or passing. Could count the number of good games he had for us in his 3 years here on one hand, one finger per good game. Couldnt count the number of utter shiite games he had for us during this period, too numerous.

Glad the waster has gone elsewhere.

Just out of interest, does anyone remember "the curse of Lee Bowyer"? A West Ham fan came on this board soon after we signed him, saying that he was a cursed player. Ie, relegated with Leeds, relegated with West Ham, and would take us to relegation too. Bit of a coincidence that we were a top 4 side when we signed him, and nearly got caught in a relegation dogfight in his final season here. And now hes at West Ham, theyre serious contenders for the drop again.

Obviously its bollocks, but I find it a bit funny. Although, maybe there is something in there - some players are acknowledged to be so good that they raise the playing level of everyone around them. Bowyer, after his purple patch, may be so shiite that he lowers the level of everyone around him.

He had already signed for Newcastle by the time Leeds went down IIRC. Left them in january one year to go to West Ham on loan/short term deal, they went down and he signed for Newcastle. Only one relegation on his CV, he's no Nigel Quashie ???
