Guest smoggeordie
DAMIEN Duff will have a scan on his ankle this week after limping out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Portsmouth. The Irish winger was forced to leave the field late in the second-half after he was unable to shake off a knock to his ankle following a challenge by Garyb O'Neill, for which the Pompey midfielder was booked. And boss Glenn Roeder told nufc.co.uk: "Damien took a heavy knock to his ankle and it's swollen. "He'll have to have a scan and it's a bit of a concern, but there is no point saying too much about it until we know what the scan shows." .cock

Crumpy Gunt
I know we recieved a free kick when Duff went down - but to me it looked like he turned his ankle with no contact whatsoever. Didn't show it on MOTD.

Legacy
If Duff is going to miss the next game then I can see Emre playing out left again. In my opinion I believe Zoggy was a straight replacement for Parker yesterday, Roeder had no intention of playing Zoggy out on the wing even if everyone knows it's his best position. Roeder has the inability to drop any of "his" current top 2 midfielders, Butt + Parker which is why we have started to see Emre out on the wing and is why we will continue to see Emre out there; He see's it as a way to solve this problem even if it means seeing players not playing in their proper positions, ie yesterday Emre out left (he's not winger) N'zgobia in the centre (he's not a centre midfielder). Keefaz
So, Emre on the left for the rest of the season, then.

Shak
Madness if we don't just let N'Zogbia play on the left if Duff is out, regardless of whether we're flogging him in the summer.
James
Duff is out for the season says .cock What a great season our bargain top international double championship winning left winger has had. And to think that we could have wasted the money on the defence instead...
Guest smoggeordie
DAMIEN Duff has kicked his last ball of the season after Glenn Roeder confirmed the Irish winger will be ruled out of United's four remaining fixtures because of an ankle injury. The 28-year-old limped out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Fratton Park and underwent a scan on Sunday to assess the extent of the damage. Roeder said: "While an X-ray has shown there is no break, Damien has a badly swollen ankle, and our medical people tell us that he will not be able to play again this season. "It's bad luck for Damien coming at a time when he was beginning to show the sort of form we have been looking for from him." Duff will miss this Sunday's game against his former club Chelsea at St.James' Park, as well as the home fixture against former employers Blackburn Rovers on May 5.
