After watching the highlights:

- Dyer, Zog and Shola looked sharp

- Their goal was scored from their right when Carr was left back, way off his man

- Their keeper is shite

being fair he may have been going to where the bloke who hit the ball across the box actually intended it to go.

"Ameobi's footwork has been very good .... and he is a tall player"

Must be a thick boro supporter with insight like that!

he has got good footwork to fe fair. s*** control, but good footwork.

I bet Alistair Brownlee is papping himself, knowing this guy is waiting in the wings!

Is that the Alistair Brownlee that's out of a job? (Along with that get Slaven)

Right just back from game, Rozehnal looked decent. Barton was superb, should've scored first half but overall very lively and looks promising. Shola was the best player on the park (thanks to his new hip obviously) Troisi looks a decent prospect given the correct guidance.

Carr was as bad as ever out of position or not. Huntington looked ropey and Dyer was hit & miss. N'Zogbia got better as the game went on and Ramage looked as if he'd got over his personal nightmare from the end of last season.

Have i missed anyone? (apart from the kids cos i didn't know who was who)

He does look a lot like the guy out of the Proclaimers, or is it just me? I would walk 500 miles etc.

Chris Mort: Fancy conceeding to Hartlepool Sam, you need some defenders

Big Sam: You taking the piss

Would have been 4-0 to us at half time had it not been for him

We were superb going forward, shit at the back.

Rozehnal was fucking immense though

Owen - Spent most of his time hands on hips in and around the centre circle

Martins - Good touch, bad touch

Carroll - Did well, couple of decent efforts

Wasn't it not a different keeper in the second-half though?

How did Martins/Owen do?

Both looked lively. Owen couldn't really have missed his goal.

Good start to build from. Cant wait for the new season to begin. I might be a little bit sick during the weekends so i cant go to work unfortunately.

Glad to hear that some of the new players did well. I had to make myself a new avatar after i read that "Big Sam should tell Barton what a friendly game is"  ;D

Good Craic at the match. Rozenhal looked assured enough, i thought nzogbia was a different gravy he was busting a gut to get back and wasnt afraid to take people on. Shola was immense and was gettin some good songs ''hes only got one hip'' ''hes got a brand new hip'' and dozens of choruses of do the ameobi. He was pissin himself laughing at all the songs. Owen looked quite sharp and there was one point where shola and owen played a couple of one twos before sholas shot was saved, would have been quality. dyer looked good as was barton altho i thought he looked a bit overweight. huntington was w#nk and cant keep the ball to save his life. i hate to say it of my favourite player but nobby was looking really slow.

the keeper who was literally two yards from the toon fans was gettin alsorts of abuse and then when he dropped the ball into the net ........... wow, i think that might be giving him nightmares for a few weeeks.

best bit of craic all night was some lad singin ''keano he w#nks his ......... you know'' with every possible thing put in there, kids grandma etc lasted about 20 mins

ps. all the players were wearing heart rate monitors whilst playin so obviously sam has got this sort of thing set up already
