Guest makemeacupoftea
IMO we should go for Puyol as i think he would like it here in the North East.
Guest WalkervilleMag
just offer Pompey £3 million for Sol Campbell. money is not really a worry to us now, and Bent Harry would surley accept that.

Guest elbee909
Maybe we did(Jag) but we missed the train as Sam said. I think that if you choose a quality CB it doesnt matter if he has EPL exp. i prefer a Good CB without any expirence in England than avrege one who passed his peak who has 10 years of english football. we need players that their Career curve is going upwards rather than downward Yep. Stam had zero Premiership experience but was awesome. Bramble has plenty Premiership experience... big deal.

Skirge
http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=477395&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=&title=Queudrue:+Magpies+move+tricky Fulham defender Franck Queudrue admits a move to Newcastle United would be 'tricky' as he looks to leave Craven Cottage. The French full-back is keen to quit Fulham, with Lawrie Sanchez hoping to recoup the £3million the club spent on Queudrue last summer. Newcastle have been linked with a bid for the 28-year-old, although Sam Allardyce has played down any interest. Queudrue is waiting for a firm offer, but the former Middlesbrough man accepts a return to the North East could be difficult. "It would be tricky," Queudrue told Sky Sports News. "Nothing is sure, I am 100 per cent for Fulham at the moment. When asked if he had handed in a transfer request, he replied: "No, I didn't, I just talked with the manager and that stays between me and the manager. "The papers say Newcastle, but we have got no news from Newcastle, it's just speculation." Fulham boss Sanchez reiterated he is prepared to allow Queudrue to leave the club, but has yet to field a concrete bid. Sanchez said: "Franck came to me in the summer and said he wanted to move on. He preferably wanted to go back to France as his wife wasn't particularly happy in London and wanted to go to France. "I said that's fine Franck if that's what you want to do, but since then there have been several other reasons that have come out why he wants to leave. "I haven't had anybody come in with any sort of offer. If he is here come the close of the transfer window, like all the professionals, he will get his head down here and do the job that is required." KaKa
Big, strong defender with premierhsip experience ... Didn't one of those Austrian guys say they heard a conversation taking place about Paul Scharner? He might indeed be a possibility I completely forgot about him. He's pretty versatile too as he plays in midfield quite a bit as well. How would people feel about Paul Scharner?

toontownman
im not a huge fan of what I have seen, would be a decent squad player but not a man to mould our defence around. Doubt Wigan would let him go on the cheap, especially to us. If we are breaking the bank on premiership players I still want us to bid for Lescott, however futile the idea is. Norwegian-Geordie
I can remember he was good for Brann, in Norway. Versatile player. Can play both CB, DM, and CM iirc. But if you are good in Norway, you don't have to be good in England. I haven't seen much of him since he left Norway, but I have heard he has done well at least. Didn't he score against us for some time ago? I don't recall us beeing linked with him though. Have we been?

Cajun
Said before I have always been impressed with Scharner when I have seen him but then again I haven't seen him over a huge number of games and Bramble could look absolutely top class if you picked the right games. Skirge
Fergie has spatt his dummy this morning, saying there is no way at all he will sell Heinze to Liverpool. mackems.gif http://www.itv-football.co.uk/Story/0,14272,6326_2599709,00.html Liverpool not getting Heinze Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out any possibility of Gabriel Heinze leaving Manchester United for Liverpool. Reds boss Rafael Benitez is a known admirer of the tough-tackling Argentina international and after weeks of speculation lodged a formal bid for Heinze on Monday. The £6million offer was immediately rejected by the Premier League champions, even though it met their private valuation. And Ferguson has made it clear he will not countenance the prospect of Heinze heading down the East Lancs Road to Merseyside, a route travelled only once since the War, when Phil Chisnall joined United's hated rivals in 1962. "I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze," the Red Devils manager declared. "We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down." Ferguson's forceful statement suggested more than one club had expressed an interest in the 29-year-old defender. Real Madrid and Inter Milan have both been linked with Heinze, who has become something of a folk hero among United fans, partly due to his nationality but also because of the robust nature of his defending. Although it appeared Patrice Evra had ousted Heinze as Fergie's first-choice left-back, the South American did feature in the Red Devils' final three games of last season, skippering them against Chelsea and West Ham, then holding onto his place for the FA Cup Final. With Heinze now on an extended break due to his commitments at the Copa America, Ferguson has not had an opportunity to speak with the player directly. However, given his agent has spent the last 18 months pushing for a transfer, it appears certain Heinze will be leaving, even if Anfield does not turn out to be his eventual destination. "Heinze's agents are rolling the ball all the time," said Ferguson. "But no matter what his agent thinks, we are in the driving seat. "I don't exactly know what Gaby thinks because it is all coming from his agent but this has been going on for a year and a half now."
Guest BooBoo
I agree with a post above who mentions Lescott. Was very impressive last season and is getting better. Would be nice to think we could tempt Everton with a big bid, but whether they would sell is another matter.
