Colocho
Who believes that the whole "he's waiting to see if we stay up" claim is actually true? From whose perspective? Pardew's.
JH
Another 'rumour' confirmed then... Again, I can't blame him. Same. Doesn't mean he'll not sign though.
Village Idiot
I think the best thing that could happen for you lot is that he got a Spain cap ASAP. I think he knows that he's getting into his prime years and being able to be in our setup while still playing for you would assuage his anxiety imho. Colocho
Indeed. I understand Capdevila is a good and experienced player, but surely it won't be long until he is called up by Spain? My concern is the way that the Spanish and particularly Italian national teams seem to prefer home-based players. Maybe he will feel it is necessary to play in Spain to be recognised by the national team?
ponsaelius
There is absolutely no excuse for him not to be in the Spain side on his current form like.
Village Idiot
We should be looking to replace the likes of Marchena/Puyol/Capdevila, don't think they'll cut it - at least as starters - for the Euro. Del Bosque just seems to cut and paste the same squad every time he makes a call, though. Can't understand why we didn't use the friendly last week to try some new legs. ponsaelius
Even most pundits admit he's one of the best left backs in the league now, especially on current form. To not recieve a callup now he's approaching prime age is madness.

oldtype
I'm assuming Spain is one of those places where you play in the domestic league or you don't exist.
Village Idiot
Nah, you had players like Arbeloa becoming Spain regulars while playing abroad (Alonso and Torres were already established). You just have to play for a media darling. That's imho, what is making him think twice about extending with you. He knows he is good enough to play for Spain. Guest BooBoo
Apologies for the pessimism but I'll be hugely surprised if either Enrique or Tiote are still with us for next season.

ponsaelius
Losing Enrique will be far more painful than losing Carroll, as far as I'm concerned. If Enrique and Tiote go in the summer I doubt I'd renew my ST. I can see many others doing the same.

AyeDubbleYoo
Thing is, we have about 6 or 7 players who are good enough to play for "better clubs". How many do we need before we become that better club ourselves?

Right, let's move on. if we stop up and no ridiculous fees are bandied about. ie 20mill each.
