I have been following Chops since his academy days and his loan moves...

and even watched fair bit of cardiff last season whilst they were on telly for him... felt we didnt let him have a fair run until Shearer got injured - where he performed admirably..tbh He hadn't had a chance to develop  because we were a team who aren't like to have healthy leads to let youngsters on the park-  until last season (when we had loads of players out).

He is a natural finisher with excellent on the ball skills..and can score all sorts of goals...his only problem was that his physique was light and the way we played..it didnt look likely he would able to compete in the prem for us. He aint a target man of old skool but he runs with ball and holds up and distributes play really well.

His contract was up with us and was told that he could look for another club as there was Owen, Shola ahead of him as well as Shearer's replacement...we got a development fee from cardiff of £0.5m and Sam Hamman( then cardiff chairman) also got away with conning us out of  a sell on clause.  He gave the club verbal he will join Cardiff  as they offered him a long contract (security) and then Owen gets injured in WC and then we make a last ditch bid to him if he would like to stay on for extended season..but it was too late as he was already moving.

Cardiff, he was awesome for them - their best player by a mile..what was wrong with cardiff was that they get their best playmaker and midfielder and best defender injured and with no backup players of any form experience ..they look average.  He was top scorer as well as their best playmaker in terms of assists.

He has a awesome youth record at every level upto u21s and his aim to eventually rejoin us ( thats if we have him back).

If he scores 15 goals in the prem - his value would double.

I can't remember hearing any boos at all while watching the game live on sky... so that might be true. Are all the people who claim they heard boos basing it the MotD footage?

There were no boos. On goals on sunday this morning they were pointing out the good reception he got.

Sunderland's obviously not Chopra's ideal choice, but it is his chance -- a chance he didn't get at St James', and a chance he wasn't going to get in Cardiff either. He was lucky to get it and must know that. And while playing for the mackems is clearly a little problematic for him, being back near friends and family must be a compensation.

So I've got no problem with the lad. But now I don't want him to succeed.

indeed. It was pretty clear what was going on. Claiming he almost kissed the badge is being ridiculous... wishful thinking to hate him even :D

Yes, when you compare his restraint to how he celebrated after scoring against Sunderland in a B&W white, you'll know where his heart lies. Newcastle never quite gave the lad a chance. The least you can do is give him a break.

The booing I heard was on MOTD.

errrr........because he's much better player than ameobi, younger and has the potential to develop into a very good goalscorer with more experience. Plus the fact he was never given the opportunity at the Toon.
