  1. Past hour
  2. You have to trade. Selling Miley for £20m would pay for Tonali for a single season. Tonali was the difference between CL and no European football. That’s £80m in revenue. £20m pays for Tino and Hall for a single season. The impact of that level of player is the difference between on pitch success and failure which impacts revenue. At some point we may have to sell Tonali, Hall or Tino themselves too.
  3. He can and does contribute though? Also his salary is a lot less than a replacement. Wed also he outsourcing his development to a third party without any input or control. I get we all twerk for signings and have PTSD about buying players but I don't think selling Miley to replace him makes any sense. Are fourth and 5th choice central midfielders that much better and cheaper?
  4. Someone printed it out for him
  5. I think it’s how close your loss limit is to previous losses? Like how likely you might be to sail close to the wind on breaching the limit.
  6. Clubs that think he would help them in the short term with an immediate impact. Real Madrid and Villa have done this in the past to great effect. The specifics of the numbers are just an example. Point is: you sell a player at slightly below market value and insert a buyback at slightly above market value. Buying club gets a player that improves their first team below market value - we still get a decent fee with the chance to buy and flip for more money or keep him. If Miley can’t contribute well to a promotion level team or Champ team going for promotion - what use is he to us this season?
  7. Would've been an excellent signing for £70M. On a free I'm not so sure.
  8. I just seen the numbers. I don't really understand it to be fair. I'd have thought the higher the number the more safe you would be.
  9. But that’s just until the end of June right? For the real transfer window we’re better off.
  10. He’s 19, he’s played almost 50 times for us at a time when we have one of the best midfields in the country. He’s also had a long term injury. Don’t get their frustrations at all tbh.
  11. The Athletic article showing that both Chelsea and Man City have around about £300m each in PSR headroom shows what a fucking joke the system is.
  12. Haven't read it yet, cheers for the quick archive Geordie, but I'm still hounded by that post about us being 11th in Europe's "coefficient" when the FCB took over

  14. This is incorrect, Amortisation isnt a free lunch. Any player you buy still has to be paid for. Last I checked, if squad cost was implemented as proposed we would have already breached.
  15. Newcastle in a safer position than Liverpool in regard to PSR?

    João Pedro

Isn’t this just a case of rehashing names from the past that we’ve been linked with?
  17. FFP means academy players don’t make a lot of sense as squad players.
  18. WilliamPS

    João Pedro

Aren’t they just revisiting the greatest hits from previous years as they have no real insight?
  19. This makes no sense friend. First issue is why on earth would we sell Miley for 14m? And who would accept a 6m profit lock?
