The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

I kind of get it now. So we get to 67, Villa draw at Bournemouth and their max is 67 but with an inferior gd to us. Let’s say Chelsea have lost to us but win their next two, they finish on 69 ahead of us. Forest of course would in that scenario only win two to give them 67 but with a worse gd than us. We finish in 5th above Forest. If Forest win all of their remaining games they finish on 70, above us but we’re in 5th with Chelsea on 66 in 6th? -
Massive Bournemouth fans on Saturday then. If they can pull something off for us and we beat Chelsea my confidence will be restored. Just hope it's one of those games like the two Arsenal semis were we are just on it from minute one. Would like to see Gordon come back in at very least just to freshen things up. Miley played well against these last season is it time to give him a chance?

Not if villa win both their games before the last day Forest winning at West ham isn't nailed on either

Yes it is true that if we beat Chelsea and villa draw then one more point for us secures top 5. -

We beat Chelsea and get a draw from our remaining 2 we are on 67. If villa don't win all of their remaining 3 they are also on 67 but have way worse gd than us so that would be them out. If Chelsea lose to us in this scenario, then beat man u they'd be on 66 going into their last game with forest. Then if forest win their next two they would also be on 66 going into their last game with Chelsea. So three scenarios here: Chelsea win, they get cl, forest are on 66 and we are on 67 so we go through with them over forest Forest win, they get cl, Chelsea are on 66 and we are on 67, so we go through over Chelsea Forest and Chelsea draw: forest, Chelsea and us end on 67 points. But our gd and Chelsea's is much better than forests so we'd probably go through over them (and when I say probably I mean almost definitely as forest are never turning that gd around in this scenario). So yeah tl;Dr version, if we beat Chelsea and Villa draw or lose to bournemouth (or just don't win all their remaining games), then we'd only need one additional points from arsenal or everton to secure cl. -

Maybe, Villa would be out of the running. If Chelsea lost to Forest the max points they could get would be 66. If they beat Forest, the max Forest could get would be 67 but probably with an inferior GD to us. -
Sorry to piss everyone off about something that, presently, isn’t likely to happen but it pissed me off so I had to share.
-
Correct as far as I can tell. Would put us on 67. Villa would be max 67. And only Chelsea or Forest could finish above us in that scenario. Edit - no. Probably but possibly not. Chelsea would be max 69 and Forest max 67. Or Chelsea max 66 and Forest max 70. Or Chelsea max 67 and Forest max 68. In the third scenario Chelsea *could* realistically just pop us on GD.

If the interest in Cunha was genuine as per Hope, then maybe we could have an interest in Eze? I really want a 4th good CM option, either something better, or different to Joelinton, high priority imo

Another interesting fact, it we beat Chelsea and Villa get a draw to bournemouth away this weekend, that would mean we just need 1 more point from our last two games to secure cl. I don't think we will win mind but still here's hoping. -
Liverpool Man City Arsenal Newcastle Chelsea Forest That's how I think this ends up, would love for us to get top 3, but have a feeling 4th will be it.

We'd need maximum points either way is the point still 9 then -
Hopefully people don’t go to the game dressed as dinosaurs and actually get behind the team.

Very much my feeling. Feels like a change, a freshness is needed to galvanise for this. -
That's the thing, if we beat Chelsea were 3 ahead of them and at least 2 above Forest with two games left and one or both of them are guaranteed to drop points in the last game. Also Villa are away to Bournemouth this weekend, they can't catch us if they lose that and we beat Chelsea. This game is huge at the weekend.

There’s gonna be a problem getting 9 out 9 if Chelsea win all their games…
-
6 points from 9 to finish above Chelsea if one of the win is against them (GD dependent)

I’ve come up with a scenario where we beat Chelsea, draw at Arsenal and the rest win all of their games (besides Chelsea obviously), with the table looking like this going into the last game; Newcastle - 67 Forest - 67 Chelsea - 66 Villa - 66 It’s good for us that Forest and Chelsea are playing each other last game and it means one of them is guaranteed to drop points, they’ll also be both desperate not to lose. Let’s say we beat Everton and Forest beat Chelsea. We finish 4th, ahead of Forest on GD. -
Whilst Forest will probably twat Leicester, it is a bit of a local derby, may give Leicester some motivation not to play like Jarra Blind School.
-
I’ll probably regret getting involved in this, but I’m guessing also 5…
