One of the main problems Gateshead have is playing at the International Stadium, it is f****** s**** for watching football. They are looking into sites for a new ground at the minute I think and with a new ground I think they will attract more people to watch. They used to play at The Pitz, that's where Gateshead FC played when they were in the football league, The Pitz, Ropery Road. They got 30,000 in against the dippers one time, but the fact is Gateshead is a different place to Newcastle, my local allegiances stop at The Tyne I'm afraid, and clearly HTT is the same. They call themselves geordies like, and I suppose they speak like us. I though the exact definition was "must be born within one mile of the Tyne". For people like me who was born in the General on the West Road, it's actually borderline that it's more than a mile from the river. Going by what HTT said people from Wallsend aren't Geordies.

Quite ridiculous justification/basis for keeping Roeder on. So a manager doing poor in the first few seasons, culminating in the fans wanting him sacked doesn't compare at all to our situation? Ok, then. If you look at our situation, Roeder has actually done better than AF did in his first few seasons. I'm not sure if you understand but people can't predict the future. Hence why Man U fans at the time wanted him sacked. You're reading my post and thinking how great AF has been over the last 10 years. Have a think about that and have another go at replying. You back a managment team on their track record - Roeder has no track record, AF did. It has nothing to do with predicting the future. In business, owners and other funders back management teams with track records - not ones who don't. You don't seem to be able to grasp the concept that you are comparing two very different situations. Just because our situation is comparable in terms of wanting the manager sacked, doesn't mean that its the same as Ferguson's situation. Two very different people, different managers, different ability/quality at two very different clubs at two very different times. But if that's the case why did the fans want him sacked? Just admit that if we were in that situation most of our fans would want AF sacked. Kevin Keegan didn't have a track record either remember. I would be happy with that level of success now. Of course I know there will never be an identical comparison. Arguably though, Roeder was successful enough last season to show he had some promise. Nevertheless, I have already said that I haven't made my own mind up yet, but what is the point in sacking him when we have nobody (decent) to replace him. We will end up going around in circles like we've been doing. I don't know the answer, i'm just trying to get some alternate views going so we don't get 4 pages of "Sack the rat faced c***". Keegan didn't have any track record at all in terms of management, you are correct. The difference here being that Roeder has a track record of failure.

He had shown some ability previously though, in winning the SPL and Uefa Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen.

It is an interesting one, I've seen him a number of times for the reserves and he didn't really stand out as being any better than anyone else in the side but when he played against Man United and in the other game he played he looked more comfortable on the ball for sure, and looked like he may be able to make the step up.

Wenger doesn't find them, most were found by Damien Comolli who was his chief European scout. ............. who is now continuing the good work with Spurs who this week beat Arsenal at u18 level (3-0 at their place) for only the 3rd time since Wenger joined the other lot up the road. 6 of the team were Comolli signings and the latest, Alex Olsen, made his debut and scored the first goal. Incidentally, Alex Inglethorpe is (apparently) doing a sensational job as Academy Coach. You got knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by the mighty Chester City!! mackems.gif

For sure, Spurs wouldn't put up with any crazy wages nonsense. You think Jenas took a pay cut then? Spurs have a very strict wage structure and I believe King is the only player earning over £35k a week.

the away will be the same as this season I doubt it. We have had a new away kit every season for the past few years.

Are you blind? There is an 18 page thread about this about 3 below this!

Well I've just searched the word Santini by NE5 on this site and no questions by you towards me have come up. You last used the word Santini on May 28th 2006. So you're obviously telling lies. Fancy that eh, you mean editing posts.......No, I have not made it up and I'm not sad enough to go looking anyway. BTW, it isn't too late for you to comment, better late than never ? Can you provide me with a link then? I've found it. http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11726&hl=Santini&st=20 http://www.toontastic.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/crylaughin.gif

He does have his weaknesses - commanding his area and his kicking. But he is the best shot stopper in the world.

Well considering i said that Jol has told porkies about the stautus of an injured player before and that i wouldnt be suprised if Teemu was playing tonight, i fail to see how im wrong??. I actually put in brackets "Zokora definatly" if i recall correctly. Yes, but I didn't question Zokora. I questioned Tainio, Jol said he was injured, you said it was bollocks, I said he wouldn't play tonight. You said he would play tonight. He didn't play tonight. I am win tbh.

So KD, where was Mr Teemu Tainio tonight?

Goals change games. If you don't score when you are on top, you pay for it. So, yes we still need forwards/strikers. Where on the field was the possession, how was the shape of the team ? Was it aimless sideways passing in midfield, or did we create chances up front ? The straight answer is no, so the conclusion is still that we need better quality forwards. I don't think too many people think we need forwards to be honest, but I'm more convinced than I ever was, that we need a striker and an attacking midfield player. We certainly need an attacking midfielder who can create and score goals. 0 goals in our last 3 league games is not good enough.
-
I doubt it. Just the other ones won't go all the way to the top like the centre one.

so you think this season is worse than all the years we struggled in the 2nd division, or were relegated mackems.gif and sold Gazza and Beardsley and Waddle NE5's new single, released soon, will be a cover version of Simply Red's "Holding back the years"... *I'll keep holding on....* Tell you what. Here's a novel idea. How can where we are at the moment be worse than spending any of a number of years in the old 2nd division ? I realise it may be difficult, but try. Well, I suppose we could go even further back into history and bemoan the fact that we used to wear red and white stripes way way back when we were Newcastle West End. Indeed we could. Each to their own. Fact is though mate, there was a time when this season would have been considered a success. Thats a fact. I can't understand how someone who has witnessed those standards can consider this season to be worse. If it's a fact, then where's the link? Well, it is a fact. Many people harp on about the MacDonald days etc etc, being so good ie legendary etc, but we finished 15th in the league for 3 consecutive years. Christ fella. What the hell has this to do with the Premiership? I can forgive a lack of comprehension but once you recognise the mistake, drop it and let the thread get back to the question at hand please. whats the problem. The question is what has been Newcastles worst season ? To ME, it would be any of at least a dozen seasons where we really struggled, which certainly isn't this one. Learn to read, the question is what has been our worst Premier League season.

That's what I thought, was is the one for the armed forces? No it was for an iMac.

The advert was more interesting than the Roeder interview.
