Just watched a highlight video of his performance against Lille, in 1 game he looks as though he took on more players than Obertan has in 6 months.

Totally agree. We definitely need to buy attacking midfielders and/or wingers. We've got Tiote, Anita, Bigi, Perch and Jonas who don't really attack. Marveaux is best through the middle behind the striker/s. He is no winger. Obertan is probably our only winger. We have no cover for Cabaye or Ben Arfa. I would love Fergie to have a game, he is the only one in our squad I think who can put in a decent cross into the box.

I'm dreading this game, I have almost no confidence in our team right now and can't see how we can threaten any club. Yesterday we did so well until we went 1-0 up then we imploded. If we can get the guy we've allegedly agreed a fee for early next week I'd love to see him start and having a week to get used to our squad he should make a massive improvement on our squad. The only problem is we have absolutely no quality in our midfield on the wings, we seem to be a team of central players and this is killing us.

He can't play up front on his own, he needs someone else there to support him. The offside situation is starting to get to me but in terms of having his chances he is getting them he's just not managed to convert, yesterday he was unlucky as Federici pulled off some saves by being in the right place at the right time unfortunately.

I completely forgot about it, but isn't this a carbon copy of the Modric transfer. I don't remember all the details but didn't we have an offer accepted on him, he was meant to be at our training ground and within hours he was a spurs player. Hoggle was probably in charge there at the time too.

Shola should be nowhere near the starting 11. Normally I would agree with you as I believe that too, he isn't good enough, but Cisse can not play up front on his own, as we seen yesterday he is absolutely wasted up there. I think the only saving grace Shola has is he brings the ball down well, if he can do that and manage to pass to someone it gives us a hell of a better chance to get the ball to Cisse where he is actually useful instead of humping it up to to hold it off which he can't do.

I don't think we'll get relegated, I think we can win the next two games and looking at the table that could put us up into 11th with everything looking rosy. We'll have Cabaye back in our team for those two games and I hate to say it, but stick Shola up front with Cisse for someone to target and we should be able to create more chances for Cisse.

I honestly believe he has asked to leave. Maybe reading into it too much but the club have shared the article by the independent, I don't ever recall them doing that about any other rumours.

This guy seems to regress with every game, he's getting worse and worse.

Is it time to seriously start looking over our shoulders about relegation once more?

my vote went nacho Gonzalez, not so much for the playing time but more the effect his signing had on the club, it was his signature which was the catalyst for the whole relegation season.

My worry is he'll be given the next game or the one after to prove himself and when we fail against Utd and Arsenal then Pardew can say he gave him a shout but it didn't work.

I've not read through the full thread but did anyone else notice Sterling kicking at at Simpson in the second half? It was one of those nothing tackles, he went down to ground very easily to gain the freekick but then kicked out at Simpson afterwards. I bet absolutely nothing comes of it.

I'm not sure why people can complain about the new sponsorship deal, we get the name St James' Park back (not that anyone called by the other name), we are getting an additional £3m a year in comparison to our previous sponsorship deal and the youth facilities are benefitting from it. The only downside is we have a shite logo on our shirt now.

Real shame for the lad, I'm hoping his injury luck is more like Gerrard than Keiran Dyer as when Gerrard was coming through the ranks he was constantly out injured and then it all seemed to go for him.

The most frustrating part about him to me is his crossing, he plays the ball in for accuracy but because he dinks them so lightly no matter how accurate they are the defender/keeper always has more than enough time to react and deal with it. For once if here were just to smash it across the box I'm convinced he'd be a hell of a lot more of a threat than he is right now.

There were 2 or 3 times tonight when he was in good positions in their box and screaming for the ball, unfortunately he seemed to inherit Jenas' trick of always having a man between him and the ball though.

Glad he scored, he looked more confident immediately after that as I dont think he'd have attempted the overhead kick in the last game.

Maybe I'm being too harsh, but did he ever look like getting close to any shots tonight, unless they were directly at him it looked as though he had no chance in getting anywhere near them.

He's looking to be an absolute bargain at the moment, I can easily imagine him in a few years time being valued around £8-10m if he keeps improving the way he is.

Todays set pieces and crosses were terrible, it took till the 87th minute when Mervaux came on for us to have a decent cross put into the box and even then tere was no one on the end of it. First decent free kick I remember was Cabaye's right at the death.

Doesn't Alan Dzagoev's contract expire in December? I'm sure that was mentioned during the Euro's
