Good? Not sure. An improvement? Definitely!

Ashley's position at NUFC is now untenable! Rejoice people, this is going to happen!

Did he say “clinical”?

Nice article in the Indy: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/jose-mourinho-rafa-benitez-manchester-united-vs-newcastle-premier-league-preview-a8060026.html Adds an extra piquancy to tomorrow's contest.

Surprised it hasn't been commented on yet, did anyone else notice how knackered Jonjo was with still a quarter of the game to go against Bournemouth? Their midfielders were running passed him and he could barely raise a trot. I know he's not the most mobile, but he really seemed to stuggle in the latter stages of this game. Perhaps that's why he's getting nowhere near the England squad?

Nothing to do with luck when you've a yard on the 18 yard line and you don't hit the target, as happened on Saturday. And I'll not even mention his performance against Stoke.
-
Joselu is OK in the air, and on Saturday he was winning more than his fair share of headers against their centre backs before being taken off. All the more strange that Mitro wasn't his direct replacement.

I didn't hear much abuse in the Library (East Stand). We do have a crowd that generates the biggest moans in the Premiership though, and any player coming here has to be able to rise above it. I thought the right mentality was now part of our recruitment? Murphy did have a great opportunity to impress on Saturday as their right back had just received a yellow card and was really struggling against Atsu. I'm sure Murphy was told to get at him but his first attempt to run at him and cross was poor and he never recovered from that.

Agree with that. There were a couple of occasions when we had a 2v2 and he didn’t punt it towards Joselu who was winning his fair share in the air.

Overjoyed! Adds another £50 million to the club's worth.
-
If Oxlade-Chamberlain is worth £45 million, what's this lad worth?

His “pressing” is totally ineffective as he gets nowhere near his man and is afraid to put his foot in in case he hurts himself. Embarrassing! I can't agree with that like. I'm a big critic of him and get so frustrated with him, but he's the best option we have in that position in terms of putting himself about and being in the right position to intercept, what he does once he has the ball is just too often the problem. Perez and “putting himself about” is a contradiction in terms. Just look at the effort he puts into closing down compared to Ritchie or Gayle.

I'd rather see Ritchie in place of Perez and play Murphy out wide.
-
A striker who doesn't score, or create, goals and his work without the ball is embarrassing.
-
He's fucking shite! Feels like we're playing with 10 men with him in the side.
-
Bring back Shelvey, and with Merino, dominate their shite midfield. Easy victory.
-
The FA already regularly single us out for too many retrospective punishments without our own "fans" wishing more shit on us, thank you very much!

Thank you! Hooks his arm is a more accurate description. Entitled to go down when he feels contact and ridiculous that he's getting slaughtered on here for it.

And yet Mitrovic's wasn't a free kick. Make your mind up. Honestly despise the extent to which diving has become acceptable. I could just about understand being entitled to go down when there's contact because it's vindicated by the lack of pens given when players stay on their feet despite being impeded. Actively looking to dive when there's no contact and literally no reason to go down though? That's where we're at now? Honestly, fuck off forever with that shit. What about the contact on his shoulder? It's a contact sport. Did it impede him? Definitely not. Should it cause his legs to fall beneath him? Definitely not. Finely balanced athlete...
