  1. Ah I see cheers Sounds daft for someone of my age not to know that, but always wondered. Like some others I can honestly say I have probably been in some parts of Leazes Park/that area of Newcastle only a handful of times in my entire life! My excuse is I have been away almost 30 years mind, but still so ignorant of the history of parts of my own city: shameful really.
  2. Daft question alert. Who actually are the 'Freemen' of Newcastle? Is there a list of them, do they keep getting added to every year? If one pops their clogs is it passed on to an heir?
  3. What a tin pot operation under MA we have been. Jesus wept.
  4. Speaking to Rangers fans at work etc. More about hs deal for their sports naming rights and merchandise. They were absolutely solid in their actions relating to that. Don't think we can claim the same at all in respects of actions re merchandise. Which could/should have been an easy one. Mind you speaking to some Celtic fans up here now and they are all cockahoop at the thought he may get more involved with Rangers now. The bitterness and hatred is something to behold...or not maybe.
  5. Not sure I fully agree with that assumption re fans behaving exactly the same re MA ownership. Certainly up here the Rangers fan base was pretty unanimously solid in their actions against his involvement with their club. I do think some other clubs may have managed a more unified and coordinated response than we ever achieved. I also think the reaction of the press would have been different as well, and this could have had a more galvanising effect on fans too. Again not because of any 'anti-NUFC' bias in the main (there isn't one in general, some idiots yes but not on the whole) but more with regards to maybe a top 5/6 club and how the media tends to be more 'protective' of them and their status and dealings than they are with other perceived 'smaller' and 'less important' clubs. We are a bit of an odd fan base. Always have had a fair amount of happy to accept anything fans, maybe you are right in the respect of we are probably not alone in that. But I do think we are a bit more compliant than others in general.
  6. We know the feeling. (wink)
  7. Absolutely LFFE A top class manager is all the more important then imo. Someone who can fully develop and get the best, the last drop of everything from each squad member. Rafa is the man for me. Liking what I am reading about this chap Nagelsmann too (though admit to being very ignorant of him and his team/s) If, as is expected, there is some kind of reduction in the insanity of transfer fees/player movement/spending power etc we will maybe get to see how good some of these 'great' managers are.
  8. And neither is anyone wanting rid of Mike Ashley after 13 years and who are willing, or at least are able to square it with themselves to accept a takeover involving the Saudi royals. Football stinks. Has done for years and for the PL or 'the powers that be' suddenly to gain a conscience now would be hypocrisy of the highest levels. Russian oligarchs and other nefarious and less than ideal states are all knee deep in the game across the world, so bit late to be getting all moralistic in some respects. Does purity even exist in lower leagues these days? Had hoped that when MA was finally flushed away we would be able to unite our support base again.Looks like another X amount of years with us all squabbling amongst ourselves is on the cards again though. For me I can't see this happening anyway. Plenty time for it to fall through for whatever reason, and it is us after all, so bound to go tits up. So here's to another 20 odd years of Fat Mike et al at the helm. Undoubtedly some will be happy/happier with that than a takeover they can't square away with themselves for some extremely valid reasons. But just because some can don't get all fucking preachy and holier than thou. As for media bias. To suggest that some journos/broadcasters do not have a bias against anyone daring to upset the balance of power outside the 'big five/six' is naive in the extreme. It ain't against us per se (though for a couple it does seem a tad personal) but bias has always existed in preference of the revered Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea clique. Not based on North/South at all, but certainly on favouring the established 'big' clubs.
  9. Well said Wullie. It ain't happening so all the moralising, debating, discussing is moot. The seller has zero intention of selling, end of. May well be lots of interest (some even genuine) but if one party don't want to engage then it is all moot. I'm very keen on Scarlett Johansson being the third wife to take the plunge with me, but not so sure the other party is so keen.
  10. No need for anyone to get over exercised over the moral dilemma of this happening. It is utter horseshit, even more so that the clowns at TalkShite are all over it (especially a mackem wind up merchant). Of course in the interests of fairness, I trust the voices of 'opposition' to this have the same views on anyone currently supporting MA's regime by continuing to attend matches/buy merchandise/sing 'Give us a wave Brewcie' etc. I'm sure they do of course.
  11. What a load of old shite. MA and his lie mongering agents and lackies at work again. Utter horseshit.
  12. No one hates the team itself (i would guess) but it's the club that people want to implode. The 2 unfortunately can't be separated. Sadly, I can't celebrate this team winning when it means Ashley wins as a consequence. So what exactly made you change your mind??
  13. Very good call. Looking like a flukey finish this season for the new Messiah and SD Utd. Accidentally caught 5 mins of this today on BT sports, but had to turn off as I felt dirty and soiled viewing it. Glad to see those SportsDirect Utd fans enjoying this brief spell of joy though. Good on 'em. True sooper fans every man Jack of them. Sure they will enjoy the next few seasons of up and down, and up and down with their wonderful owner raking in the cash, pissing himself laughing at them., whilst they sit there in their replica shirts getting away from those awful wives and girlfriends. truly 'The loyalest football supporters, the world has ever seen.'
  14. My da refused to indulge in coitus with me ma in case she conceived, I was born and may have ended up accepting a free ticket...
  15. Nail on head that. Contrast that to the shit stuff being spouted by other failures like Fat Sam and the other freeloaders... Rotten to the core the PL gravy train.
  16. He's doing a cracking job. Can't see him going anywhere soon at all so it's all going splendidly.
  17. Absolutely. Whatever their individual reasons, or what has compelled them to see fit to stop going, couldn't give a monkeys chuff. Just as long as more and more stop feeding MA it's good news.
  18. Great shout. The short sightedness and utter lack of understanding by MA and his cronies is borderline criminal. Can easily see Leicester or Everton doing very, very well this season. Meanwhile we, sorry they, AIM for 17th.
  19. He's not very good at defending, which is brilliant because if he was he certainly wouldn't be here. Schar is a good defender. Very good at times, in fact. He really isn't. He is good at aggresive interceptions at that is about it, he gets caught out of position a lot but gets away with it in our three man set up with relatively deep wing backs making a 5 when defending. Wouldn't have him anywhere near my team in a back four. Great on the ball, lovely passing range. Decent finisher. He's not very good at defending, which is brilliant because if he was he certainly wouldn't be here. Schar is a good defender. Very good at times, in fact. He's not at all. If he was he'd be at a very top club I completely disagree. Superb defensively just 1 week ago. Some great challenges. Last ditch tackles and blocks are not the sign of a good defender. The best defenders don't tackle at all really. They don't need to. This. Never saw woodgate making them Very true. Remember Titus making loads of last ditch tackles, slide tackles and blocks...Cos he had too.
  20. There are a few of the current squad that are more than likeable imo. If things were different would be fun with some of this lot at 'our' club.
  21. Victory by 2 for Steve Bruce's SportsDirect utd. Mr Ashley cockahoop.3 more points to secure his cash machine. Joy and rapture abound.
  22. Epitomises the "jobs for the boys" network that seems to be prevalent in the media nowadays. Anyone who has had the misfortune of being subjected to his ramblings can immediately see how ill fitted he is to media work (Especially spoken word). Inarticulate, contradictory, pre-teen like grammar & a shocking paucity of knowledge on football considering his background. Add that to impression he gives of being a weapons grade bell end then I would suggest this news should be celebrated. Couldn’t agree more ^ Absolutely. Horrible creature. He was blootered by the looks of it too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-49522290 Arrogant tosser
