Spending wisely is going to be far better than spending big. Lashing out £400m+ in the next 4 windows means little if you spaff most of it on players who don't fit the plan but spending £200m+ carefully selected players is the way to move us forward. Good characters who have the ambition and drive to improve, never going to tick every box every time and we'll sign a few duds too, but we need consistent and sustained investment. I'm pretty confident it'll happen too

He needs proper physical and technical help in there. He's got all of the tools as an individual but sharing that area of the park with someone like Longstaff is hindering him. He needs a big, mobile, technically good nasty bastard who he can dovetail with. Options making runs in the final third wouldn't go amiss either tbh. The better we get as a team the more he'll flourish

I'll give them a partial pass on that as the vast majority of those games were under that gormless cunt. He was openly telling the world how much better the opposition were well in advance of each game. This was compounded by the fact he was too incompetent to actually come up with a plan to compete. That doesn't excuse it though. But he's a big reason for it.

Watching creative players express themselves and do things that mere mortals can only dream about is why we're all fans, they're the reason we follow the sport and they're the reason we pay handsomely to do so. Seeing Messi pick it up 40 yards from goal and drive at the defence or see someone like Zidane running a game without breaking sweat is the ultimate. I defy anyone to not enjoy players like that. It comes down to balancing effort and production though at the end of the day. Any player not putting in the effort and working hard in both directions runs the risk of getting stick. I think creative players get a little leeway in that respect as it's not really their main role. But if a player is neither working hard nor creating then they're going to get it from fans. I think most fans can accept a lack of ability but rarely a lack of effort. ASM is quickly falling into that category. Not end product and not working hard going back either and questions, rightly imo, are being asked about his suitability in the XI if he's neither producing or tracking back. He's not good enough to carry, he needs to get his shit in a pile asap.

I fully expected a loss but the manner of the defeat matters to me and we barely laid a glove on them in all honesty.
