Get what you're saying and agree to an extent but in this ur position he's an ideal, short term fix with minimal risk. He's basically a cheap stopgap that'll buy us a year. I'd rather buy the real deal now but if it allows us to upgrade another 4 or 5 positions then I'm all for it. Also giving us another year in the bigger spotlight of the Prem, where hopefully we'll do well, and become a more fanciful destination for perhaps a higher quality striker next year then we could attract this year. That too. All that said I wouldn't want more than 2 per year or it becomes a much larger issue in the medium and long term.

To be fair to Allardyce in an interview he gave (about diving and the FA looking at video later), he did go on to say that if players are banned in retrospect, players booked for diving wrongly will still not have those yellow cards recinded. His point was you can one without the other for it to be fair. And he did say have a monitor there for the officials to look at during the game to sort it there and then. He's obviously a very good prospect but I'm not sure clubs would be willing to shell out that much on potential. They might but it's a hell of a risk, not too sure how he would cope in a huge game, he's made mistakes in league games but he's never played a full international friendly let alone a qualifier. He's never played in a European game nor a proper cup final. Just think if they're going to throw 30m at a keeper they'll go for the finished article who has done all of those things.
