Yeah, Pardew's point has merit in as much as it can have an effect around 2 places, but thats entirely negligible as you couldn't say with any certainty what other factors involved. There is absolutely no way it should result in a relegation battle, none at all. It was a drop of 11 places and 24 points on the previous season. Using the EL as an excuse for that level of incompetence is very disingenuous. The squad was completely mismanaged and that was down to Pardew 100%.
