We're now 1/8 to finish top 5. It's not done and dusted yet but 2 more wins almost seals it, it's literally in the palm of our hands

They've been way out-performing their stats for months now and were always due a regression to their 'normal' performance. Constantly winging it and edging tight games isn't sustainable, this last month seems to be their correction

The 17 teams that remain after the current bottom 3 go down will start in the PL for the fourth season in a row in August. That's 4 consecutive years of growth and investment with the cash that comes with just participating in the league and it looks like being the current 17 + 3 for the next few seasons imo. At some point something will happen to one of the 17 and they'll go down eventually but it's impossible to see any of the new teams to finish above any of the current 17. Even Wolves, Palace and Everton look way, way stronger than anything coming up. 17 + 3 guests. Marvellous

I've also managed to avoid 99% of their previous PL celebrations too, I've seen the odd few seconds of footage from their covid title but managed to switch it off sharpish thankfully

This will crucify the stat-haters but Forest have been outperforming their stats for months now. Just in the league alone they've, according to the dreaded xG stuff, scored 7 goals more than they should have, conceded 10 less than they should have and gained 17 more points than they should have. I know they're just (bullshitty) numbers but they suggest they've squeezed every single point out of every game they've played. They deserve credit for it but it's not sustainable long term. There has to be a correction eventually, maybe this is the start of it?

I agree but this fixture today is a bit of a thankless task for Spurs. Going to Anfield on the day they can wrap up the title is brutal and most teams would lose this by several. Liverpool win league vs Spurs get fucking battered? Can't win and we can't lose tbh

Exactly. He's not the dream signing by any stretch but I think it's a sensible one. He fills a position we need and he's a 'free' transfer, we can look to shell out bigger to fill other holes in the squad with a couple of loans in there too

We probably could but a signing a better player would probably mean a biggish fee and eat into the budget so we compromise in a different position. Plus it can't have been any fun at all playing CF in Dyche's Everton for the last couple of years. I'm thinking it could well be a good move for everyone. If he stays fit. That's also an obvious concern
