The days before Wikipedia. Where did you read that Midds? His biography.

Cascarino dyed his hair and lied about his age when he met the Marseille president.

Using the loan system is something we've not made the most of tbh. They get good players in for next to nothing year on year and it makes sense. They can't be faulted for that imo.
-
Enjoy the game mate.

Where would they all play though? I presume Gyan and Bent would start up front? Muntari and Cattermole in the middle? Henderson, Richardson, Adam, Sessegnon, Zenden, Welbeck, Malbranque all fighting for 2 places? Good luck trying to keep them all happy tbh. Not having a pop btw just wondering how it's going to fit together. Cattermole is a liability and I wouldn't be too disappointed if he was moved on. If and it's a big "IF" these signings happen then I'd go for a midfield of Henderson Muntari Adam Sessegnon They're all canny players but it's a bit gung-ho for Bruce isn't it? Sunderland's results have been built on an organised back 4 and a solid, disciplined midfield. You can throw that out of the window with that midfield playing behind Bent and Gyan. Would be very entertaining to watch but you'd be horribly exposed and cut to ribbons.

Don't think he'll be the last one to come in this month. Got a feeling they'll go for it now they're up there.

Completely agree. However, I don't feel that Bentley will often hit top form and I would much rather have a guaranteed 7/10 player. I'd rather have the match-winner tbh. Having someone capable of turning or winning a game is much more valuable than a 'steady eddie'. All about opinions though.

January 21st. About dinner time.

Was in favour of playing a full strength XI and putting as many past them as possible until I realised it was the week before the derby. An XI of mostly fringe/squad players with one or two older heads should be enough to see this lot off. (Liked Ronaldo's line-up actually, had a nice blend) 0-2

To be clearer, I laughed at those who thought it was a good idea. I don't think many LFC fans think getting Kenny in is a good idea, it's more something to chant that isn't straight up "fuck off Hodgson". Like you say, it would be a mental appointment. I don't imagine the owners would appoint him, but there's no way of knowing yet because they have zero track record to go on. What about their other Sports Franchises? Scum.

The derby is a week later though. What if the new manager loses LFC's first derby at Anfield for over a decade? We destroyed them at Goodison and have played well in every 'big' game this season. Last night for example. I think the owners will be hoping Roy can cling on until the derby, take out the potential banana skin for the new man and then sack him. Hadn't realised that the derby was so soon. In that case I think you're right. Let him take the two bullets and the new bloke gets a clean slate so to speak.

Board could be hoping that another twatting by Man U will cause so much resentment that he walks before he's pushed. I reckon they know how the weekend is going to pan out and it'll be seen by many as the final straw. Really hope Man U go for the jugular.

Blackpool, for all their hard work and good performances, are only 4 points off the relegation zone. They've got a couple of games in hand but they'll find it harder as they play teams the second time around. They've lost their element of surprise a bit now and their squad is going to be stretched. They could well be sucked into it pretty soon.
-
You've learnt lessons from 08/09 i see, Midds. I was a 1 all the way through that season man. Bit more guarded now like.

They remind me a bit of us when we went down actually. Manager walks out early season Squad plunged into disarray Good players but (seemingly) no spirit Dropping down the league steadily Can't seem to string results together to get out of it despite playing well in patches. etc. It'll be interesting to see if they follow our lead and bin Houllier in March to bring someone else in. i know its ridiculous to say this all things considered with our history but surely villa are too good to go down at least compared to the shite around them They've got a lot of good players there but the results say otherwise. They're right in the thick of it.

Taking into account goal difference compared to the dross down there, tonight was almost worth 4 points to us. On a 2 now. Not certain we'll stay up but very, very confident.
-
Thought it was very good management to give him his debut without having any pressure to deal with. He just trotted on and got on with it without having to worry about making a mistake as the game was in the bag. I'd start him at Stevenage.
-
West Ham looked utterly devoid of confidence, quality and bottle tonight. They're bottom and will go unless they buy 4 or 5 first XI to paper over the cracks.
-
They also booed their own team back out onto the pitch at the start of the second half which was canny funny.
