All depends what time the paperwork was completed. We all saw him posing in the shirt but if the paperwork didn't actually go through until after 7pm on Saturday night then I can't see the problem. However, if they had the paperwork done then surely it's Bassong who's suspended for the game, regardless of who he plays for? All pretty irrelevant as far as we're concerned though, nothing much to get too worked up at.

He's an absolute twat of a human being but we're a better team with him in the middle of the park. At the end of the day, I want what's best for the team. If he's doing the business lots of fans can put up with him being a twat.

Played very well I thought. He seemed a bit twitchy but I think that will pass after a few games. He's young, ambitious and he'll get even better whereas Harper is very much on the way down (but still a decent keeper though). It's a no-brainer tbh.

I'm guessing the other managers have got a good handle on who is worth buying from us and who is shite. Hence, the players we all liked last season have been snapped up and the dross is still here - it's not a co-incidence.

Needs to do his talking on the park rather than to the Times. Admire his honesty but think he should have kept schtum until something happens.

We need a striker who can score 20+ this season. We'll create chances but I've got no faith in Ameobi or Carroll to get in there and convert chances consistently.

It's also a valuable CB option gone. True. Just got to hope that the young lad who'll inevitably have to step up to replace him in the squad has enough about him to compete in this league. Just got to wait and see.

Same feelings as when Bassong left yesterday really. It's a blow but we need to concentrate on the players who want to be here and move on. Can't say I'm happy about him going because he would have been a very good RB and a bit of experience for the young lads but there you go, he's gone and that's that.

I really fear we're going to get kicked off the park every week this season. Just don't think we've got the energy or enthusiasm to compete physically. Some of these sides will be woeful but they'll battle for 90 minutes and I think a few of them will steamroller us.

He's a good player who'll probably get better but he's not our player anymore. Yes it's annoying but I would have thought most people knew this was going to happen as soon as the final whistle went at Villa Park. The implications of going down were always going to be huge and losing players like Bassong were just part and parcel of it all. It happens every year. We need to replace him as best we can and concentrate on our own shit.

It's a blow but we all expected it. We move on.

Make absolutely no mistake about it when Ashley does go the supporters you think 'can get back to supporting the lads' quite simply will not. They aren't the rank and file, they are the spectators NOT supporters. Your sentiments are admirable but you'll find in fact it will not happen. Just want to get back to the actual football.
