On what grounds can we rip his contract up?
-
I agree with every word Shearer said but he should have more nous and kept it in the dressing-room. He's basically written off any fee we could have expected for him in the summer by ostracising him in the way he has done. I applaud Shearer's honesty but question the logic of it. I hope Barton never plays for us again but I'd have quite liked a decent fee for him when moving him on. Never mind - far more important things t worry about rather than that odious little wanker. Club comes first.

To be taken with rather more than a pinch of salt imo. Fuck all will happen.

The fact there's going to be a few thousand Boro fans there will help to create the atmosphere. Always been a bit of an edge between the 2 sets of fans and, with all due respect, the Portsmouth following wasn't exactly bouncing was it? I think it'll be pretty loud come 8.00.
-
That's always been the case imo. A sizeable minority would rather see Newcastle lose than their own team win. There are some canny mackems out there but most have got a massive chip on their shoulders and have a serious inferiority complex.

There's going to be an awful lot of fingers being crossed in the next week or 2. It's obviously not ideal that we're relying on others but if that's what we need to do to stay up then so be it. 3 points against Boro following up losses for Hull and Sunderland next weekend would be nice.

Bizarrely enough, if Villa beat Hull (and they should) I'd be a little bit more optimistic than I was this morning. We expected to get a right humping and Sunderland to pick up a point or maybe 3. The fact Sunderland played soooooo poorly in a game they would have considered winnable shows they've lost all confidence. They could quite easily lose their 3 remaining games and their goal difference will take a pounding. Hull could also fairly easily lose their last 4 but even if they draw against Stoke it means we could stay up by taking 4 more points. Results are going our way but we need to win a game. Beat Boro and Fulham and I think we'll reel in both of them. We're relying on other teams to continue to do us favours but ultimately we need to turn in a performance and win a game - preferably 2. Still not cut and dried either way but we're still in with a shout.

Don't think we deserve a miracle to be brutally honest though.

Pulling the socks over the knees. Henry was the worst offender iirc. Looked absolutely ridiculous. Oh, and while I'm on - football boots should be black. Nothing else. Not white, red, blue, green, yellow or anything else. Just back.
-
He's already booked for the two home games. Oh Christ, I was being facetious. :-[

Is he going to sing before the Boro game? What about the Fulham game? Wonder if Villa would mind if he sung on the last day? Nowt against the bloke personally as it serves a purpose (to an extent) but there's only so many times you can play that card. It's in serious danger of making us look like desperate wankers (if it hasn't already).

They'll score 3 quick goals in the first half hour then take the piss. It's how many they score whilst taking the piss that scares me.

The avatar strikes back! Ah fuck. Sorry Tim.

Think Rich has nailed it tbh. Most neutrals want us to go down because it's a much bigger event than, say, Hull going down. Because of the size of our club and the interest we generate it was always going to happen. We should take it as a back-handed compliment.

Game over. I watched a relegation team tonight. A team that couldn't manage to string a few passes together or construct any footballing moves. We're a fucking shambles and we thoroughly deserve to go down because we're one of the worst teams in the league. That's the unpalatable truth and we've all got to deal with it. I never thought I'd type that lot out but the table doesn't lie. The players don't give a shit about the club and I doubt they ever did. I went tonight full of hope and optimistic but they let us down yet again. Gutless fucking wankers.
-
4. Thre results went for us this weekend and if we win tonight then I'd take it down to a 2. I was fully expecting the mackems to go to WBA and win and pull themselves out of it but they blew it and will struggle to win another game. Beat Portsmouth and Boro, avoid a hiding at Anfield and take a point from either Fulham or Villa and we should be fine.

A central midfielder so bad I'm not sure if I'd play him ahead of Nolan or Butt. Surely no Premiership club will be in for him, it's off to the likes of Queen Of The South for you, laddie... The big boss at work is a huge Celtic fan and he rates Ferguson for some reason. Says he wouldn't mind him at Celtic. Seems to have a decent reputation up there at least. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Wouldn't average be 5/10? All depends I suppose... It's ok, not bad, decent. Nothing majorly wrong with it but it's nothing spectacularly nice either imo. You get my drift. As madras says, with a couple of minor changes it could have been very smart indeed.

That's absolutely average. 7/10
