I can still see Mills just losing it and kicking him straight in the shins.

Originally wanted us to play the kids but I've changed my mind. They've had a rest and they now need a game with no pressure on it.

If it all goes according to plan the chances are the standard of football will get even worse the nearer we get to promotion. We all know how cautious Hughton is now - can you imagine how defensive and long-ball we're going to be when the pressure's really on to get some results? Barton's got the ability to improve the way we play if he's used properly. Sadly, I don't think he'll be given the chance to by Hughton.

Smacks of DJ Campbell all over again. Or Freddy Eastwood. Or Ebanks-Blake. Or David Nugent. Fuck it, the longer this goes the more suspicious I get.

I think Ronaldo is the most argumentative fucker ever to log on to N-O. He's also right quite a bit of the time btw.

so rafa finally in touch with reality Bit of a turn around from this http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/nov/17/rafael-benitez-liverpool-fernando-torres City are shitting money. They'll take them both if they've got any sense. £100m for the pair.

Don't believe for a single second we were ever 'off the market'. He's still desperate to sell and always has been for months and months.

Would be a travesty if the little wanker is in the squad. Thankfully Capello has got his head screwed on and won't pander to the media and pick him on reputation. Only way he'll get to South Africa is as a pundit for the Beeb.

100% As for this thread, hopefully the horror of relegation has wiped all twattery from our squad(excluding Barton & Caroolll) and we start doing things right agreed. whatever people say about shearer as manager, i do believe he was hell bent on correcting the deep issues that we have behind the scenes/ Said at the time we needed someone to rip the club apart and build it up again from scratch. I think Shearer, given enough time and backing, would have done this. All academic now obviously like. We didn't go down that route and we are where we are.

Portsmouth, Hull and Burnley. Burnley will go with a struggle but the other 2 will just fade away.
-
On right now actually. Unreal, i watched them scraping all manner of shite off the stands/surrounding area i would love to think if we had a home game it would be the same, they were fantastic Although the way it's going they probably wish they hadn't fucking bothered...

Running your contract down is the sensible thing to do in his position. It's what I'd do, and I don't blame him one bit for hanging fire and waiting til the summer.
-
Not sure about that. He'd want a 3 year deal at £30k a week and would have a resale value of zero. Beckford would want less and we'd almost certainly get some money back when we sold him. Not particularly enthusistic about either tttt.

Some people are only ever happy when they've got something to be miserable about. Fact.

Agree with all of that. McCleish has moulded them together and they're tough to beat. Not much flair there but grinding out results and they're nearly safe already.
-
Begs the question, why did he hand a request in if he could have sat tight and signed a better contract in June? Something not right about this deal. Not sure what it is. Maybe sees this as his gateway to the Premiership knowing we're interested. Possibly? If that is the case then we absolutely should not offer a penny more than we already have done. We want him, he wants to play up here, Leeds can't really afford to let him go for nothing so we sit it out and play hardball.

Agree with this. He's not the answer to our prayers although him coming here and banging in 10 between now and May would probably see us promoted. Problem is you've got a player on a longish contract for large(ish) money who is compltely untried in the PL. Haven't seen him too often but when i have seen him he's not looked like a PL player. There has to be a cut-off point and I think £1.5m for a player who will be worth nothing in 5 months time is a good offer. We need to stick to our guns and if that means losing out on him and getting someone else on a short-term loan to fill the gap then so be it. Don't like to see us held to ransom over the like of Beckford.

In a nutshell. Bingo.

Play the kids. Fuck the FA Cup.

He did. 'The Penguin'

Jan Molby once got a hat-trick of pens for the wall-pushers. Long time ago now like.

At least the lad has gone about it in the right way. He's unhappy so he's slapped in a transfer request at the earliest possible opportunity. He's not digging his heels in or feigning injury to get out of playing. He's not going through the motions he's doing the professional thing and it's nice to see. Puts the likes of Given to shame.

The fucking cheque's booonced.
