  1. If it goes through, yes. Personally I think they'll get some kind of deadline til the end of the season and their future will be sorted during the close season. We'll see though.
  2. Mid 80's although I've got very few memories from those times. Waddle, Gazza and Pedro. Too young to remember seeing Keggy play though.

    Points target

Just looking at the league table and it's quite encouraging to see after this weekend we'll have almost played the other 6 best teams in the league twice - WBA, Cardiff, Swansea, Leicester and Palace (who should have 43 points). The other sides in the top 10 still have to come up here too - Forest, Sheff U, Barnsley and Blackpool. No reason why we can't still wallop the shite and get to 100.
  4. Lennon, Young, Milner, Cole. Beckham offers nothing anymore.
  5. He's a cretin, and he's worse than ever now. SBR had it right about him and that was years ago. Bobby liked him I think. I do recall some negative comments after a game though. There is a lot to admire about Wenger, but he has zero dignity or class. I can't remember SBR's exact words but they were about that, I think. Something about learning how to lose and reacting with a bit of dignity when it happens.
  6. I just don't think because we thumped Cardiff at home we should take anything for granted. We aren't going to be three goals up inside 15 minutes in every game. This is true and one or two are getting a bit carried away. Still think if we come out firing and go for them with 2 strikers and 2 wingers we'll create chances and win the game though.
  7. He got it right last night. Started with a balanced, attacking team and we came out looking to win the game. A mobile(ish) CM and a solid back 4. It's a simple game and Hughton should start with that formation and attitude for the rest of the season.
  8. Start the same XI and we'll win by 2 or 3 again. Bring back Smith/Butt and we'll struggle. Bit of balance with a bit of pace and we'll stretch them and score a few. I'll go 1-3 to us.
  9. Well that was a nice experience. Attacking line-up, 2 wingers, 2 forwards, no Smith, no Butt and after 15 mins the game was won. We should probably have scored more tbh but 5-1 was far more than I was expecting. Well done to everyone.

    Wasted Talent

Ones that spring to mind straight away are David Hirst and Norman Whiteside.
  11. Guthrie is no more than a poor man's Danny Murphy. He's alright but he's not the answer.
  12. They're struggling to win so, yeah they could easily go down. That applies to any team that can't win for shit. They rely too much on Bent and the other managers have sussed this and either cut off his supply or mark him out of the game. They need to mix it up a bit. Could they? Yes. Will they? Probably not.
  13. every club could say they shouldn't be where they are...hartlepool had they backed clough a little, huddersfield had they bought st john and someone else who's name i can't remember like shankley wanted. all clubs are where they deserve to be. Even the likes of Wigan? They got more points than the teams that finished in 18th, 19th and 20th so why not? This is true. Just a bit hard to see Wigan playing PL games when their fan base/history is virtually non-existant. To say it grates a bit is an understatement. The likes of Wolves and Burnley I can accept....but Wigan?? It vexes me. It's a bitch isn't it? Absolute waste of a PL place - the same with Hull. Actually misread the context of madras's comment tbh. He's actually right but it doesn't seem 'right' for Wigan to beplaying in the top flight but there you go. C'est las vie. "madras is right".....about as scary a phrase thats ever been posted on any message board in the history of tinternet. You'd be surprised how often it applies, you wily old dog.

  17. We thought the away game was going to be tough, but in the end we turned them over pretty easily. Fingers crossed for the same again. Hope you're right. Just got a bad feeling about this one.
  18. First home loss of the season. We're due a loss and we look shite atm. 1-3.
  19. Any manager that can stand on the touchline and not change formation, tempo or personnel despite having a man advantage in a vital away game deserves all the flack he gets. Dropping 2 points on Saturday was directly down to his cowardice. Leaving Nicky Butt on for the full game was disgraceful. Fans don't forget games like Saturday and the alarm bells are ringing loud and clear with the folk I've spoken to about it.
  20. Wrong. So very wrong. Milner, Walcott, Lennon. There's 3 reasons why.
  21. Don't think Capello will want to rock the boat too much, maybe hopes that it'll die down soon enough.
  22. Know absolutely nothing about the lad so I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him play. He's clearly not going to be fantastic but he might just be good enough. We'll see.
