  1. 'YOU'RE NOT FIT ENOUGH TO BE A CLUB OWNER' 'YOU'RE MANAGER FEELS UNLOVED AND PUSHED OUT BY YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH THESE TWO MEN' 'You really are a bully aren't you Dennis?' 'I don't care if your circus is failing, get a job like everyone else' 'Why should i pay for you to sit around all day feeling sorry for yourself? Be a man Kevin'
  2. 100% this. If people are getting genuinely wound up by these quotes then they need to have a serious fucking word with themselves. Blatantly obvious he was taking the piss.
  3. Pleased he's gone there and not to Sunderland tbh. I think they've got a shot at staying up now but I still think he could have done a good job down the road.
  4. The cynical (realistic?) side of me thinks that he's only been offered so much because Ashley won't be around to foot the bill for much longer. I'd like to think it's a sign that Ashley is ready to invest in the squad.... We'll see I suppose.
  5. i could see Villa or Spurs matching it too (along with ambitious nouveau-riche like wigan or sunderland but he wouldnt go there), primarily because he'd be arriving on a free and they could factor in money saved in transfer fees to add an extra £20,000 or so a week on his wages. Possibly? Not sure if O'Neill would be happy to sanction a £90k a week player. Might turn a few others a bit green? Also not sure if Spurs have any sort of wage structure in place or not. Redknapp is the type of manager who isn't afraid to splash out a bit on wages though. We'll have to see I suppose.
  6. If that's accurate then the only clubs able to match that are the top 4 or City. He'll not get a better offer than that imo. Still not sure he'll sign it like.

    Milner for England

He might get in the squad but he'll only ever get a game if there's a spate of injuries to people above him in the pecking order. Walcott, SWP, Bentley, Lennon? then Milner. Possibly even Beckham, if the FA need to shift a few more tickets for a low-profile game.
  8. Always had a feeling it would go tits up for Ince down there.
  9. And yet she got the boardroom shenanigans bang on this summer. We refused to believe her iirc. Wonder who her source is this time? Hardly, all she did was print any negative story she could think of and one or two ended up vaguely close to the truth. If you throw enough shit some of it will stick as the saying goes. Have a gander at a few of these articles and emails she's been writing since March: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/mar/04/newsstory.newcastleunited http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/may/07/newcastleunited.premierleague http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jun/22/newcastleunited.premierleague http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jul/28/newcastleunited.doncaster http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/11/newcastleunited.premierleague1?gusrc=rss&feed=football http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/16/premierleague.newcastleunited http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/19/westhamunited.sunderland http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/25/newcastleunited.boltonwanderers http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,48889.msg1439810.html#msg1439810 http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,48889.msg1439821.html#msg1439821 I think she knew something was up fairly soon. If you disagree then that's fair enough. All taken from the Media thread btw. Reading it over, Taylor and the Daily Mail were all very negative all summer. I haven't read them all and to be honest I can't be bothered, though I noticed in the first article she mentions that "Meanwhile the combination of a generous salary, which is helping reinvigorate Keegan's Soccer Circus business in Glasgow, and a burning desire to confound those who dub him a serial quitter virtually rule out the possibility of the former England coach resigning." Not exactly spot on there then Seriously though, I think its a case of shooting a scatter gun of shit at the situation, some of it likely with sources and some of it without, and getting some right and a lot wrong. I just don't believe what she said can really be described as spot on overall. Fair enough mate. Can't be bothered anymore myself tttt.

I said it every day weeks before her over the summer. I've got no inside connections. You knew there was something up?

  13. Hopefully Spartak Moscow will do us a favour kick the piss out of them.

    Kinnear Out

The facts don't give a true insight though. I agree. I did acknowledge that the state of the team/club was different. The opposition was different too. Just a few facts and figures for the people who think Kinnear is doing a shit job. People will obviously draw their own conclusions which is fair enough.

    Kinnear Out

Fair comment. I'd settle for points rather than performances atm though. Couldn't agree more, I'm struggling to form opinions let alone type right now though, tomorrow might be tricky Ouch. Good luck chap. Cheers mido! Not been to this job with a proper hangover yet, we'll see how it goes.... I wonder if it helps that my boss is a Pompey fan? I don't have a bomb you know.

    Kinnear Out

Fair comment. I'd settle for points rather than performances atm though. Just think how good those stats would have looked if we hadn't conceded late goals against City, Wigan and Stoke. Absolutely. If we'd held out against those 3 we'd be looking at Europe. It's a fine line between success and failure this year.

Keegan's league record last season: Played 16 Won 4 Drawn 5 Lost 7 Points 17 For 18 Against 26 Kinnear's league record so far this season: Played 11 Won 3 Drawn 6 Lost 2 Points 15 For 17 Against 13 Not trying to prove anyone right or wrong btw. Just facts and figures so far and obviously the opposition was different etc. Quite interesting reading though.

This horrendous manager who's taken points from 9 of his 11 games? He's made mistakes but considering the state we were in when he arrived I'd say he's done ok actually. 2 losses from 11. I'd have settled for that 3 months ago. 2 losses from 11 doesn't excuse some of the woeful decisions that have led to us dropping a lot of attainable points. You can swing it the other way aswell, and say 3 wins in 11. And that is far from good enough for me, given the teams we've played and the players we've got. Just my opinion like. Fair enough. We've dropped points I'd have expected us to win and we've also won points I'd not have expected. As I say, in comparison to freefall - I'd settle for what he's done so far. Each to their own though. I won't be surprised if we're in the relegation zone come the turn of the New Year. If we're four or five points clear of it, then i'll give him credit because i'd regard that as reasonably acceptable given the situation of the club. Nothing will convince me, however, that he is anything but a very poor manager. We're fortunate to have what is, imo, a quality collection of players. Merry Christmas Yorkie.
