    Makelele anyone?

Used to be the best in the world at the job he did for the team and still would improve us even though he's very much 'on the way down'. He'd cost a bomb in wages though and I highly doubt he'd even consider us all things considered. I'm pretty sure he'll go back to the La Liga and who could blame him tbh!
  2. It wouldn't bother me if Newcastle brought a new home kit out every year. There's no written rule you've even got to buy the kit. You buy it if you like it...unless you're a sheep that is.
  3. I think this more than anything needs crushed. Doesn't help when our own dear chairman still pontificates that we're one of the top clubs in Europe, biggest job in football blah, blah, blah. It raises expectation to a ridiculous level with some people. d'you think it raised the expectation or did he go slightly over the top but he had to say things along those lines (couldn't really say "had to get rid of the last fellah and nobody wants to come within 200miles of this place"), lot's of people knew this but still used it to beat him with. What I'm saying is, some people automatically believe something purely because 'it's in the paper'. These same people may also have access to the internet...

  5. England teams for as long as I can remember have too often looked like they were introduced to each other in the tunnel before the game. Not enough stability and continuity in the starting XI's. Too many meaningless friendlies and too many players picked to 'have a look at'. FFS, scout the player and either bring him into the squad and keep him there or don't pick him at all. The media clamouring for their favourites is only slightly less sickening than the manager relenting and picking them. PS. Also fucked off at club managers moaning that their players are expected to play in Internationals as well as club games.
  6. Parker in his Charlton form is a vastly superior player than Barton has ever shown. Whether or not Allardyce can get it out of him, or whether indeed Parker is capable of reproducing it is another matter, however.
  7. What do you think about signing Joey Barton? Obviously he has a bit of a temper but I'm hoping Sam could curb that and we could get to see some excellent football from the lad as we know hes capable TBH if SA cant control him we can just sell him on, He is a good player and we need a midfielder who knows how to get forward. How many has Barton got this season? 2 more than that cockney wanker Parker... Hardly prolific though is he? Does seem like an Allardyce-type of player.

  9. Don't care what he's called, he's light-years ahead of Bramble! Ditto for Viduka and Sibierski. Improving the squad without spending a penny...exactly the reason why Allardyce was brought in.
  10. Nice, easy start would be good. Fulham at home followed by a few more winnable games. Get some points on the board and gives them confidence.
  11. That's because he picks most of his players on reputation rather than their ability. In my opinion obviously.
  12. Doesn't bear thinking about. The further away he stays from Newcastle, the better. I'm begging this to be more shite 'journalism' . :-[

    Luke Young

Same argument didn't hold water a while ago when people talked about Heskey being an improvement on Ameobi. A player is either good enough for where we want to be or isn't. Young isn't a big enough improvement. Enough money has been wasted already, the club needs to buy players who are a significant improvement on what we already have. Young IS a significant improvement on Carr. I'd agree but the fact remains that while Young is average, Carr is absolutely dreadful. Neither is good enough to hold down a first team spot if we want to get to where we all want to go. In the short to medium term, we are looking at what, top 7? I reckon Young is good for that. For the kind of money talked about here, certainly. See what you're getting at but I think we should be aiming for top 4 tbh. Agree with HTL, we should be looking for a RB who's good enough to compete in a top 4 side. Luke Young isn't the answer. Yes, he'd improve us but it would mean replacing him in 2 years time with someone better. Let's just sign the better player now. I know that sounds glib as fuck but the player we need is out there and I trust Allardyce to find him. We are currently so far from a top 4 side that its laughable. Apart from Given and Owen, not one other player os capable of playing at that level properly. Its a pipe dream to want top 4 players in every position. You have to be a big club to get that, and we are far from a big club. Young woudl greatly improve our squad, and give a genuine alternative to a rapidly ageing right winger at right back. If thats a bad thing, then you must hate the rest of our squad more than i do, because they aren't good enough for the top 4 either. Never said they were tbh. Just think that we should be scouring the globe for the bloke who's better than Young to take us back into the top 4. Not that long ago since we finished top 4 you know! I couldn't give a toss how long ago since we finished top 4 - twice out of the last 10 seasons, the last being 4 ago - you clearly can't think the rest of the squad are up to it. Like signing Duff last season, its the same thing - wrong priority. I'd rather take a RB good enough for the top 7 (which should be our short/medium term place) and get similar players in other positions, rather than pretend we can attract top top players. We have, in my opinion, 7 or 8 players who can comfortably play at that level. Lets get the rest in, and build from there. If you can read my mind then read this.................................. Get that? Goodnight mate.

  16. Well the whole world was speculating at the time that it was. There's no way West Ham United could have attracted both of them without either a) going bankrupt or b) it not being legit. We knew of the company's ownership of both of the players from the offset. Fine. But who's 'we'? If you mean the whole world then they're bang to rights. New owners or not - they've broken the rules and should be punished accordingly. Not with a poxy fine. But it's too little, too late. Fair enough they should have been punished for it with a points deduction but that deduction should have came in September, October, November, heck even Christmas time. Sheffield United can't blame their entire failings on what happened on the last day of the Premiership season. If Tevez hadn't have scored those goals, Sheffield United wouldn't have complained. Notice how Wigan aren't speaking out that much? because they didn't go down. Fact is, they should have spoken out when Tevez was not making an impact on the team, not only because he started to. They're simply looking for an excuse for why they went down. With all due respect - "If Tevez hadn't scored those goals"...West Ham wouldn't have got as many points and gone down. He played when he shouldn't have. They won points they weren't entitled to. They should have had points docked but they didn't. I'm not disputing that they shouldn't have been deducted points, but it should have happened months ago. It's too late now, Sheff Utd are clutching at straws. In which case you'd accept that they have a legitimate grievance. They aren't "clutching at straws", they're fucking bang on correct. West Ham garnered points by playing a player they didn't own. FACT. They admitted it. They should have been stripped of every one of those points.

  18. You answered your own question with your third sentence. I think that's a record tbh.

  20. Get in the fucking corner. Go on. No turning around.
  21. What a fantastic name as well. http://daniel.tipos.com.br/media/315/20050424-vnr_10.jpg Blatantly the coolest guy ever. I can imagine St. James' in a chorus of 'All you need is Love'. Love will tear you apart. Blatantly.
  22. Doesn't strike me as a player who'd adapt to the Premier League. Going forward he looks good but is poor defensively.

  24. The sheer amount of cash we'd be committing to this transfer would be mind-blowing. A ridiculous transfer fee, signing-on fee, basic wage and bonus system would be a given and the risk we'd be taking would be vast. Wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Canny player but definitely on the way down.
