Yep. 100%. Well done. You are brilliant evidence of the kind of fan that deserves the likes of Souness and Roeder. Why, bearing in mind the actual facts of achievement, would you rather have Fat Heed? Given a straight choice between Allardyce and SGE for NUFC right now - I'd choose Allardyce every time. The club needs an entire overhaul and dragged into the 21st century. I think Allardyce can do this and SGE can't. I may be right or I may be wrong. If you think SGE would be a better choice - fine. That's up to you. My money's on the big man. Don't like it? Tough shit.

are you baiting us??? What doesn't impress you?? No. Nearly all of it tbh. And what DOES impress you about SA's career?? managed to get a club with smaller resources to be regular top halfers using tactical nouse and clever managemnet. not my first choice (wenger) but a very good realistic choice and we are the experiment to see if allardyce is a long ball merchant or get the best from your squad however merchant. This. (Only written when sober. )

The Swedish ad Portugese leagues are akin to the Scottish leagues imo. Even Souness was successful up there.. He bought won the Italian league which is canny I suppose...A few Italian Cups....meh... Hardly scintillating is it?

Maybe he was just on the loo? To be honest, Sam stated he was going on a long break, but only to find out he's going to be the new manager for Newcastle 2 weeks later. Phil has every right to be pissed off with the situation. Agree with that like. Imagine Shepherd in this situation... >

What seriously impresses you in that career spanning nearly 30 years?

I'd like us to win as many games as possible. Don't care how we win them. I'm not kidding myself, it'll take a few years to sort this club out but if he puts things in place - success in the League will follow. While we're waiting, a Cup win would be much appreciated. Would you rather us play pretty football, finishing 5th and winning nowt? f*** that - want to celebrate something. that is shockingly blingsighted, of course i would prefer the cosistent top 5 with great football. Do you not see how important it is to estabilish the club for the future. Making this club more attractive to any top class manager is my priority, one who would take usto that next step on wininng that important trophy. But to say you'd prfer crap football with mid table prosperity is absurd at which point are we realising our potential??? shocking Erm, aye! I'd prefer crap, effective winning football and I've already said if he gets it right, we'll finish high enough in the League. All I'm saying is - I wouldn't mind seeing us pick up a trophy in the next few years. We played some of the best football in Europe for a few years under Keegan without winning a thing. And what has Fat Heed won? Exactly the same as we have. So why would he do better here? He's worked miracles without spending any serious money. Give him £10m a year to buy who he wants as well as bringing in his bargains on Bosmans and loans and let's see what happens. He's established Bolton, fucking Bolton, into the top 8. UEFA Cup, a Cup final and takes points from Chelsea and Arsenal hand over fist. I think he'll do better like.

Wonder what the odds are on us finishing 5th? I'm all for setting high targets but it'll take a few years to correct things and start making the progress we should be making. Get things right off the field and we'll get things right on the field. My only concern with people making 5th a target is that if we finish, say, 7th - some people will say it's a poor season and we've underachieved. i've voted for finishing in a uefa place, and looking above us i think 5th is a realsitic target That's fair enough. I just hope he's given the time to put things right and not hounded out because he doesn't finish 5th. Because some people will call for his head this time next year due to unrealistic expectations.

Would rather win something tbh. Don't really care about the type of football we'd play to win it either for the record.

For us, Chelsea or both?

I'd like to think that Shepherd wouldn't have even considered Allardyce if he'd be against the 'new-fangled stuff'. Surely it's a given that he'd revamp these areas of the club and Shepherd is ok with this? *crosses fingers*

Don't see too many people ready to throw themselves off the Tyne Bridge at him choosing Chelsea. Most of us are genuinely surprised that he turned down the chance of regular football to sit on the bench while his career passes him by. The team he rejected is fairly irrelevant - could have been Boro, Villa, Bolton etc and i think the reaction would have been the same tbh. He's gone there for the money - good luck to him. Think he'll regret it eventually like... Of course he's gone for the money. Football is a short career, he wouldn't have to move his wife and kids. He's no different to 99% of other players IMO. Why do you think Michael Owen is here? He wouldn't have came if he had to take a pay cut from Madrid would he? He'd have sat his ass on the bench until someone came in for him that would match/increase his dosh or leave on a free. So we agree on this one then? I've said virtually the same things...
-
The latter certainly could have out-weighed any doubts about the amount of first team opportunities he'll receive, and you can't really blame him for that. He's looking after himself financially and getting as much as he can, while he can. He'll never get another chance to sign for Chelsea and he'll earn a shitload whether he plays or not. I've honestly not got a problem with him signing for Chelsea for the £££'s but sacrificing a year or 2 of a short career to sit on a bench is a gamble. He's obviously happy to take the chance. Let him get on with it.

Once Sam gets the lads back from hospital after their spine implants this summer we'll wipe the floor with the fuckers. Bring it on.
-
Do you think Chelsea are going to pay him more than the £40k-a-week we reportedly were? Yes. And he may win a medal or 2 if there's an injury crisis. And he may not have to uproot his family 250 miles north.
