Turns out there were extra seats installed for the women's euros and they weren't put back properly.

Dyer, Bellamy and Robert (going forward anyway) were lightning. I reckon we had the fastest attack in the league at the time (exc Shearer obviously). I wonder how much Eddie will look at pacey players going forward when we will look to break into the top 4. Step forward... Diaby. ?

Dyer was stuck in an era where playing 442 was the norm. He'd be decent playing on the wing as a 433 or just behind the front line in a 4231. However, as others pointed out, he was made of glass and couldn't finish. Although I remember the FA cup game against Southampton away where he went beast mode on the odd occassion and bagged a brace. I think it finished 3-0. Another funny thing was that Dyer was mentioned as a potential replacement for Scholes in the England team at the time. We played them at SJP and I think Scholes scored a hat-trick. There was a crazy statistic that Scholes scored more goals at SJP Park than Dyer did but I'm not sure if anything can found out.

I also ordered the retro 95/96 kit from Amazon for £35 on Amazon on top of the home kit this season both in large. The current one fits a lot more tighter compared to the retro one. Similar to an NBA kit (which adds to the older style in my opinion. I actually prefer the retro kit and the quality is great. Anyone else have it?

He played Burn and Schar together in our pre-season games and they were magnificent last season. Probably wants to ease Botman in slowly like he did with Bruno. We also play Liverpool and Man City early on so could be a perfect excuse to drop Burn after those games.

Another option could be to shift Schar into CDM and play Burn and Botman at the back if we are really short of midfielders. Rather that than play Anderson or Matty Longstaff at this stage.

We forgotten everything those 3 have contributed over the last few seasons? Anderson has had one season in League 2 man. Even Bruno had to wait 7-8 games before he really got his chance. Of course he will get his chance but no way should he be starting ahead of those 3.

Think he'd be perfect as a politician personally.

Can Paqueta play as a RW or is he predominately a AM? If we don't get Maddison for 50m, then I reckon Paqueta would go at that price.

One of the worse transfers ever in the EFL. Would rather play Almiron or Fraser and save the cash.

Longstaff was our best player tonight in my opinion.

Longstaff has played his way into the starting 11 if Shelvey is out. Always liked him when he first broke in the team (even more so after reading his latest interview on Howe) so I'm delighted that his form is coming back - hopefully to stay.

Don't forget about Achraf Lazaar! Still no idea why he barely got any chances.

Be interesting to see how he copes in the league but looks like very promising. I didn't watch him that much last year but obviously heard the hype surrounding him.

Am I right I in thinking he doesn't take up a place in the 25? Has to stay surely based on tonight's performance. Looks very calm and composed and has all the ingredients to be a decent player for us even in small cameos this season.

Reminded me a little of the performance versus Chelsea. We had a crap line up that day but everyone worked their socks off and knew their role in the team. Obviously we lost that day but you get the sense that Howe has drilled every single one his players to a tee. Can't wait for the season to start!
