true. there are plenty of other reasons not to have the world cup in south africa mind.

financially he's not even that great a risk.

alternativly pay the little bit extra now safe in the knowledge that if he doesn't make the grade SHOULD we get promoted we can almost certainly sell him for at least what we paid whereas with harewood we pay and get little back on the pitch and nothing back financially. So if Villa wanted £200k for Harewood til June you know he will score here, where is the problem? We now have 6 months to find who we should get rather than wasting everyones time as we all know your perfect world scenario is an utter crock i don't know he'll score here. lets be honest for most of his time here the majority wouldn't have gave him a start due to his performances. if we get someone on loan i hope we are looking at who else is available.

i agree with this to a large part. the performances of carr, duff , bramble and parker where never as bad as certain sections of the crowd tried to make out. crowds have fovourites and they also like scapegoats and once a player has the tag it takes a hell of a lot to get rid of it. i'd also say that some players appear to get a very easy ride of the crowd (beye in his final season, gutierrez this season for example). it's nothing new as i remember tommy gibb getting dogs abuse while jimmy smith was allowed to get away with murder.

reading the story its spurs who made the offer of 5m plus carew for keane so that explains that that doesn't sound right. spurs got in touch with villa to say give us 5mill and carew and you can have keane ?

whereas i think he looks like will smith in his fresh prince days.

It's about time you change tbh, I still haven't got the hang of the crazy 4/6 s*** you guys do, especially when doing accumulators. took me ages to get the hang of deciaml odds. most betting sites that use them let you hang the cursor over them and it shows the fractional equivilent. How is it hard to get the hang of decimal odds? For example £5 x 2.30 = £11.5 You just multiply your money with the odds. Much easier than trying to understand whatever 4/6 or 11/2 means. maybe cos i was brought up on fractional odds. getting used to the idea that 2 and not 1 was evens used to throw me. edit...also when doing fractionals it's easier to do the profit as you dont have to then subtract your stake.

People generally get a feeling when something isn't right. I can't believe that Redknapp didn't have the 'this is wrong' moment when he was signing some of the players on the wages begin paid. He may not have signed the cheques, but imo any manager has a responsibility to question the chairman when stupid figures are being paid, especially in the post Leeds United era "where is the money comng from and can we sustain this long term?" Would be my question. and when answered "our rich owner and of course we can" ?

Very true, but the hatred for Redknapp on here will not allow for sensible thinking like that. I for one think he should be jailed; even if its just for being an ugly c***, there's at least several custodial years there the state of his face. still could be jailed (highly unlikely though) as i think he is still being investigated by the tax people on personal tax issues.

Macca888 How many times have man utd done that. we've thought they were finished but then a year later come back twice as strong ? true some of the recent signings don't seem to fit (nani, anderson, valencia, berbatov),they'll get back to basics and normal service will be resumed......unfortunatly. and chelsea will win the prem this season.
-
hope he does but don't think he will. remember those injuries aren't as bad as man utd's defensive injury woes and that was from a massive squad, arsenals were brought about by having so small a squad. i doubt wenger will change (and i hope he doesn't) and i see fabregas in spain in 2 years.
-
i used to think that till his insistence he didn't need to spend last season when everyone involved with arsenal, including himself were saying there was cash to spend. he seems to want to create a league winning team from his nouse....it wont happen.
-
aye, but where as we can blame souness for wasting a good bit of money (and i'm not including owen there as at that time i didn't see it as a waste) pompey shouldn't blame harry for being allowed to build a decent squad on tick.
-
i don't think the budget thing is real in that i doubt many managers are told "we have 30mill to spend". signings are a business decision and that means wages and 'extras' aswell as the headline grabbing fee. once the CEO thinks they are spent up but a bargain is identified that is a good business decision (player at the end of contract who'd be worth a lot more under contract, player who will merchandise well etc) then they will try whatever they can to find the cash to get them.
-
well it is but is that the managers fault ?...surely it's the CEO or whoever was in charge there to say "we can't afford this".
-
not at a time when it's obvious he'll not take risks financially. also i doubt we'd get a viera as much as a player having a pay day and not doing what he's supposed to.
-
why harry ?
