he defended quite well but gave the ball away a lot. even failing with easy passes.

mourinho could outspend anyone to achieve his aims...sven has done well so far after spending wads. most nufc fans aren't expecting that but we know we should be performing a lot better with the squad we have. it hasn't even been the results it's been the performances. Yes you have a point there. But when he was at Porto,he wasnt doing a bad job either and he didnt have a lot of money to spend and yes of course the performances are currently the worst we have ever seen for any season, but I think Big Sam's tactics is also baffling to me.My point is Big Sam wasnt my first choice when Roeder was sacked.I wanted Sven because I believe he would do a better job,and he has already proven that at Manchester City. But right now,Big Sam is our manager and if we dont support him, then its going to be very difficult. at porto he was at the best club in portugal with the pick of brazilians who couldn't get visas for the rest of europe so he pick up a few good players. horrible football to beat celtic in the uefa cup final, within a ferr kick rebound of going out v man utd and dived all over to win the champs lge. put him in charge of liverpool and £30mill to spend and i doubt he'd get close to man utd and arsenal. sven has proven nothing yet

either....then he shouldn't have bought him. or allardyce does that sort of thing

Well this what I said 6 1/2 months ago and its all been a bit predictable. What do you class as efficient football then? where did "efficient" come from ? Efficient meaning do what was required to win, rather than doing it in a stylish way. yes i get that bit,i didn't realise efficiency had been mentioned anywhere that's all. Aye - it was on the German Mercedez Benz Newcastle forum. It's just that we are not playing any sort of controlled football in any form at the minute - probably only for the first 45 minutes of the match against Tottingham so far this season. It just seesm that most of the results so far are more from luck than judgement. Probably a symptom of having a manager who believes in percentages than trying to batter a team into submisson. just spotted the efficiency bit and nice use of "ing" in tottingham,(see i pick up on the subtle jokes rather than the actual points of posts). you're almost right about the only time we played controlled football,we did against tottingham but remember how they were then ? west ham 2nd half for about half an hour and everton for about half an hour we've been organised, committed and PLAYED FOOTBALL. I'd take almost right - makes me over qualified to be a Premier League manager though and definitely out of the running as a national coach. no chance, you've got to be a complete prick to take that job.

I'm yet to see a valid reason to keep him. He got rid of Keyring and Titus. He did well to get so much for Dyer but Bramble going was a decision which had already been made before he came. who's he ? Allardyce. i don't think that would have been down to allardyce, do you ? the decision to sell maybe but not the price and the haggling that went on

we stopped talking about england days ago we're now on about .................................ahhh now i see!

even from barton's day.....watch how many times he plays it in the right place there,as barton did and got crucified for,and then watch how many other teams use it as a good tactic. he's not helped by having n'zogbia outside. (not a rant against n'zogbia but i feel n'zog is best suited with an experienced full back to tell him where to position himself)
-
not just the defence,it's the defending and how it is done throughout the 11

Kept Arteta in his back pocket the majority of the game against Everton. He's been good but today he was poor. Seems to be too clever for his own good sometimes and I think his lax passing and his poor final ball is down to the lack of movement from our players rather than just him being inaccurate. Aye fair point about the movement, but he needs to be overlapping N'Zogbia more. Whether that is an instruction from Allardyce I don't know - Geremi moreso seemed to treat the halfway line like a brick wall that he wasn't allowed to pass. quite often it's hard to overlap someone who is getting the ball too wide or is going inside........n'zogbia''s positioning is the worst part of his game. any full back playing behind him isn't going to form an easy partnership. Excellent point. Zoggy ruins every good thing Enrique tries to do. Never gives Enrique the return ball but instead puts his head down and dribbles into a defender thus losing the ball. Zoggy was disgustingly bad today. wouldn't go that far (in general, but today yes)but he should by now be playing with a bit more experience.
-
another from today that i've just remembered. butt seemed to start on the right of a middle 3,then when we went 4-4-2 he went in the middle with emre........you'd expect emre to be the more advanced of the central 2 wouldn't you ?
-
it's not overnight and it's getting worse.
