think it's time someone started a "best game you went to" to accompany this "game you wish you went to" thread
-
derby(a) 2-1 win promotion season couldn't go due to fluid on the knee,my mates had a cracking day out,the stories still come out and i've been lucky in that in all the games we've went to as a group, this is the only one i missed.
-
he is a originally central midfielder doesn't mean much though does it,...what someone was as a 17yr old ?
-
i would go......given solano taylor bramble duff milner parker butt n'zogbia dyer martins. think we'll see....given solano bramble onyewu taylor milner parker butt duff dyer martins outside bet on defence of taylor bramble onyewu solano, wouldn't be too bad as if morrison plays wide right he comes inside a lot.
-
am i the only one to think (and i'm nearing forty) that it was "pick up your stick"?....pick up a step does make more sense.
-
Yup, which ain't what we're after that. We got that when we got Gooch, who we'll no doubt sign on a permanent, presuming his performances continue at an average-to-decent level. We want a partner for Taylor. Bramble out, someone in. Ben Haim on a free is my preferred player anyway, although doubtful. Why go spending £5m on Anton Ferdinand or £7m on Curtis Davies, when we can have someone a lot more experienced and a lot more proven for nowt? Same goes for Distin aswell. Taylor --- Ben Haim Onyewu --- Ramage Would do me for next season tbh. Huntington and Edgar there aswell don't forget. Each of whom are far more worth keeping than Bramble, imo. Bramble is million times better than Ramage... At being a fat liability, yes. He's just as good as Ramage at meing a general liabilty. Ramage is better at looking like, but it being, a Scottish liability. They both havr their strengths, see? But they are both Championship. Ramage's mistakes are far worse than Bramble's...Brambles has actually played great in some occasions...Ramage is NOT a defender, hell no he isn't even a footballer to begin with... Brambel has almost entirely played well against utter s**** (ref our recent UEFA outings) and CRAP against real teams. And if you don't think Ramage has one at least that, then you haven't been watching. NEITHER of them are good enough. I really don't understand why newcastle fans insist on doing the "i hate X so Y must be good enough". Its a load of s****. They are both poor, and neither should be played if we can help it. real teams...like juve and inter? there are many on this board who waste no time in having a go at bramble, but even they would step back from placing ramage in front of him...the old norhtern monkey "hate glasses" again.

amazing logic similar logic that had we kept bellamy we'd be so much better than now.
-
when you think of how large the "black" percentage of the population is and compare it with the percentage of black professional footballers,it seems clear MR Crooks would have to assume that white people aspiring to become pro footballers are being unfairly tret.

i challange you to find a 6yd tap in in goal of the month in the past 2 yrs.? i'm off to bed now so i'll take it if you haven't got one here tomorrow that you were wrong, not just that you couldn't be arsed, anyway i'm gonna press post now, that means i've got the last word and apparently that wins on here, then logging off and running upstairs to kip with my fingers in my ears singing that carpenters song that goes" la lala lala, lala lala lala, lalalalalala"
-
like neighbours,same threads(storylines),different names
-
thats probably what beats me,i see it as whatever to win games, keeping them out and scoring are equal to me. motd is shit but the ethos is there, all footy progs when having goal of the month etc hada a fair spread of styles...since sky it's changed.ask a 10yr old nowabout last weeks goals he will pick out the spectacular, wasn't always thus.
-
1)but given wouldn't fetch martins transfer fee and will be on nowhere near the wages. 2)drawing game, forward misses chance, should be winning 3) motd of old always had a fair share of team goals and spectacular solos for gotm/y...no more
-
the thread where you can vent your spleen at what you don't understand about today's football. how goalkeepers who win you 20points per season aren't as feted as forwards who win you 20points per season. why a forward who misses a sitter never gets slagged off as much as a defender who's slip costs a goal. why the 30yd blast into the top corner is seen as better than the 20 touch move where the forward converts a simple chance.
-
Bramble is indeed a genuine talent. But his concentration .... No, he's not a genuine talent. He still shows the odd glimpse of quality, but a genuine talent? No. The days when he could be classed as having potential and the chance to improve are long gone. He's a laughing stock at fans form all other clubs. He's a Championship player, but at least he had the opportunity to have a go in the Premiership. Most players of his quality don't. yeah i remember liverpool fans laughing and chanting his name when he came on down there...he was probably our best player that night!!! he's better than "hate glasses" monkey makes out,not brilliant but not the boumsong either...of our current staff he's in the first 11 for me alongside taylor
-
Was as good as Nicky Butt tonight. Just sat back and protected the defence and kept it simple. Is the right answer. pattinson had his best game for us tonight, stopped them more than he stopped us,passed to team mates, but to say he was as good as butt is exaggerating, butt played the game as it was, a dead euro tie, pinged about some quality 30yd balls and stopped the oppo and was always in control
-
milner is best on the left if we are playing with dyer/martins up front,he can come inside and look for a shot or pass,if sibierski is playing then milner is best on the right to be able to cross and drive at the full back. thats how to get the best out of milner, wether it gets the best out of our squad is open to debate

I'm not sure if your memory is playing tricks on you but how was Souness saying on TV in a very snarky manner that Bellamy walked out of training with an 'injury' NOT taking the matter any further. It was clearly not agreed that Souness would protect his dropping of Bellamy by blaming the no-show on injury, as it was quite clear that Bellamy was caught on the hop, failed to think on his feet and back up that lie under pressure. He responded by saying that he was fit to play. Doing the interview in the first place was possibly foolish, but I'm not sure damning him for telling the truth is entirely fair. Souness baited Bellamy, and Bellamy (as expected) fell for it. And that was wrong too, no-one has said Souness handled the whole affair well or excuses him of any blame, the fact of the matter is this: Bellamy agreed to end the matter behind closed doors with the Chairman and manager, then went back on that to ridicule them live on TV, he even ignored the pleas of his best mate Kieron Dyer and his agent and lawyer. Freddy Shepherd as Chairman had every right to peddle him for that alone, never mind what went on before, regardless of what Souness wanted or not, a decision I believe to be 100% correct and something I supported 100%, for once the board put the club first and a line was drawn. Now had they drawn a line when Bellamy first acted the bollocks, or Dyer (instead of rewarding said player with a bumper new contract) these problems may well never have surfaced. Or they could have just not appointed Souness, a man we all knew and said would look to get rid of the Bellamys and Roberts. Either way they acted on what was a serious discipline issue and good for them. Yous lot paint a picture of innocence where poor lickle Cwaigy is concerned, had he kept his mouth shut in the first place he'd still be here. Had he took his substitution at the Valley like a man instead of calling his manager a c*** or whatever it was, he wouldn't have been reprimanded like the little child he is in front of the full squad to piss him off to the extent of feining injury and causing this whole sorry afair. Souness pushed him of course but Bellamy reacted in the wrong manner, every action leads to a reaction and all that and his reaction caused his demise here at Newcastle, not Souness', not NUFC's, his fate was in his own hands. Telling the truth has nowt to do with it either, he was wrong to speak out full stop. I seem to remember you and others slagging Souness for coming out with "you'll never win anything with a team of Milners", he was speaking the truth was he not? Yes, but he was wrong to say what he did because it undermined the Milners at the club, well Bellamy undermined his manager, Chairman, his team-mates, the club and fans by going live on TV to say his manager and Chairman were liars. Being accused of feining injury is a serious accusation, why didn't he take Souness to court, or the club even? Because he didn't have a leg to stand on, instead he pleaded his innocence and said a few things about how much he loves the club and fans, how he couldn't play for another team among accusing his employer and manager of being liars We all know Bellamy is a selfish individual with an attitude problem, if his manager wanted to play him wide right, that's the manager's right and he as a professional should get on with it, even if playing him wide right was an anal decision. You don't hear Nobby, Talyor, Shola or others pissing and moaning, but then they are professionals and respect their manager/the club. Some of the excuses made for Bellamy are hilarious like , he's a grown man and did wrong, he paid for it, end of. Like I said, had he done what he did under SBR or KK, there would have been hell on, the fact that Graeme Souness, despised by many, was in charge negates everything for the blinkered which is sad, judge things on their indiviodual merit. All through this thread I have said he f***** up, he puts peoples noses out of joint etc etc, there is no argument there. But you still seem to be oblivious to the actual points being made, especially considering the last few lines of your post (including the rather amusing part where you call other people 'blinkered'). There would not 'have been hell on' under SBR or KK because it would have been unlikely to ever happened under SBR or KK, just as it has not happened under any of his numerous other managers who were often quoted relishing his attitude rather than rubbing against it. It is impossible to 'judge things on their individual merit' or on the final flourish in a long drawn out and all to predictable charade, simply because it should have never got to that point and it is a great shame that it did. Poor lickle Cwaigy hasn't missed out here, (despite some cretins saying he would never play at the level of Newcastle ever again he has just played a major role in his team beating Barca at the Nou Camp), we have. I don't see anyone defending Bellamy for Bellamy’s sake, but because his departure hurt the club and the argument all along was simply that the greatest factor in us failing to retain such a valuable asset for pennies was astonishingly bad management, and not Bellamy himself. it did happen under robson and he was allowed to get away with it,which is why he and others thought they could take the piss from then on and why we were going backwards before souness even came in. What, he effectivelly called Robson a liar on TV did he? Missed that. There must have been hell on. Also wouldn't mind you clarifying what you mean by taking the piss and causing the slide? I don't recall him putting in many substandard performances on the pitch, slacking off and causing us to slide down the table. when you say it's unlikely there'd be hell on under KK or SBR,he did tell robson to fuck off and there should have been hell on for that and ignoring team orders, there wasn't! and how come he was part of a better team than we have now and we were going backwards, robson never tried to play him out of position again, dyer was crucified for doing it...how come ? you know i didn't mean the exact same scenario occurred,so why try and score cheap points ?

Ne5 isn't registered on toontastic Dave, just here and howaythetoon. Shame people still think we are better off losing at home to Birmingham than winning in the Nou Camp though. Are you implying that we'd not have lost 5-1 against Birmingham had Bellamy been in the team then? of course we wouldn't we wouldn't have been beaten off an even worse wolves team in the fa cup either.

Are you implying that we'd not have lost 5-1 against Birmingham had Bellamy been in the team then? Exactly. Just like Liverpool wouldn't have been bum-raped by Arsenal reserves in the Carling Cup if Bellamy had played. What? He did? Oh. he's right you know, had bellamy stayed we'd be in the nou camp tonight,we weren't going backwards even when nhe was here. my twopenneth, gary speed leaving was more detrimental than bellamy leaving.

agreed, the puns should be putt to sleep.

Give over with that crap man. That's why he faked an injury when he was asked to do a job for the "team he wanted to play for". And don't come out with the "Souness was a liar" b*llocks either, because if he really was lying I'm pretty sure Bellamy could have done the club for fining him. As I said, he played for a season and a half with a serious knee injury. And still showed more desire to win and appetite than anyone over that consistent period. Anyone who disputes this either didn't watch the team or has a short, selective memory, which appears to be the case among quite a number of people, simply because he isn't our player anymore. I suppose you will say that you prefer Marcelino and the Luque's of this world ? Likewise, when he said he wouldn't want to stay if Rooney came ? Do you also prefer players to be happy sitting on the bench ? Do you bollocks. What would you have said if Shearer had been asked to play on the right wing ? Aye, stupid isn't it. I can't believe after all this time there are still people around who can't see that Souness deliberatly forced this situation onto Bellamy, putting himself before his job and the good of the club, of which playing him out of position was also part of his ploy to undermine and sell his intended sale to gullible supporters of a popular player. Shearer said after that Norwich match when we made the Rooney bid that if him coming in meant he lost his place in the side, then so be it. Bellamy on the other hand came out and said, "Craig Bellamy has to look out for what's best for Craig Bellamy". Really sounds like he was putting the club first eh? As I said. If you prefer players who dont' want to fight for their place in the team, thats your choice. You wouldn't be running much of a team though, a bit like Souness actually ......... no,thats the point,he didn't want to fight for his place,he was quite prepared to f*** off if he wasn't first choice, nowt too wrong in that,as he said "craig bellamy will do what is best for craig bellamy" but don't make out he put the team first. I've no problem with that whatsoever. Every player should put themselves first, I wouldn't think much of them if they didn't. Because what he means, whatever the slant on it is, is that he is saying he wants to play every week, thats all. Which is spot on, they all should. so what was all that "fight for his place"stuff ?

for any old fogies wanting to bring back the 70's,norman burtenshaw's "whose side are you on ref?" is quality....may be interesting for those who thinkmoaning at refs is a "sky sports" phenomenon.

But we've been after players in the last 3 transfer windows and we are no further forward now than we were then. Absolute f****** bullshite the Chronic peddles on behalf of Fred. so do you think we are looking for new players ?
