  1. Nobody gets it right all the time and I never suggested for a minute that they had. Their success, however, in those days could easily be compared with Wenger, who is as successful as anyone, and even he spunked £10m on Jeffers. Wenger's a legendary manager, but nobody will ever come close to matching what Brian Clough achieved with Forest. Mainly because these days taking an absolute nothing of a club like Forest and winning championships and european cups is actually impossible. Another sad fact that we might reflect on whilst we're all sat in our armchairs watching Richard Keys salivate over some Chelsea - Man United wankfest. nobody will ever come close eh ?...didn't watford with even fewer resources come runners up with graham turnip ? Turnip? I think you'll find that is Sir Graham Taylor ;-) Watford's achievements were absolutely nothing compared to Forest. Winning the league then the European Cup twice with a club which, at that time, would compare with someone like Stoke City today is an absolutely huge achievement Watford didn't come even remotely close. had watford won the league..let's face it runners up is close, george reilly and luther blissett would have rampaged over europe, dominated a la forest but without an alcaholic at the helm wouldn't have took the dive forest did...had watford won the championship that year christiano ronaldo and sammy eto'o would now be rampaging around vicarage road....thus are the vagaries of football Had they. But they didn't. Forest did. you said "close" not "replicated"

    Wages crisis?

They are in panic mode tbf. Interesting about Davenport any ideas on Hudd? How much he's on? Someone did say £9k, I don't know how accurate that is but I would guess that is fairly close. Hudd's problem is that we haven't got the perfect midfielder for him to play alongside so for the forseeable future I see him as Zokora's backup. See that's sensible money. What is he 19 - 20? I rate him quite highly, seems to have concentration problems and loves playing to the crowd, but he'll grow out of that. Btw Imo Eboue is the big Wenger find as people will discover. No, you're wrong, he was another Comolli find. That's why Spurs fans are getting more and more confident (perhaps too confident) about the future. Comolli did it once for them, he's started to do the same again for us, creating partnerships with clubs in South Africa, Nigeria and maybe one again in Ivory Coast, but not ASEC Abidjan. Perhaps even more satisfying is at least 3 of the kids he's signed for Spurs have been in direct competition with Wenger. It may all end in tears but I'm more optimistic now than I have been for years, even when Arnesen came in he offered hope but also recruited some God awful youngsters! Comolli is already delivering more. Most Spurs fans on the forums are agreed that Berbatov and Zokora would't have looked twice at Spurs if it hadn't been for Comolli's efforts. be warned ,we have bought some of the best youngsters on the planet...it's what you do with them that matters, that's what marks wenger out from the rest.

    Wages crisis?

has the club actually been losing £1mill per month ? ,ie to lose £12mill in one year doesn't necessarily mean you've lost £1mill per month
  6. I fully concur. Mick and I have agreed this. he sez he can chin ye ye knaa.

    Wages crisis?

does anyone mind me asking how anyone knows how much certain players are on ?
  8. sidwell and distin on free's and sell emre(if rumours are true)leaving the emre money plus whatever else we can scrape together for another centre half, left back and forward.
  9. generates money but also costs money, hence the "massive" profits posted by most clubs.
  10. why would someone wanting to take over and being able to get 70% of the shares be put off buy shepherd 29% ?
  11. oh and nice of coach HTT to only point out that dyer said it,not mentioning that given said exactly the same thing. oh and i was very impressed with sidwell up here, best player on the pitch when we played reading.
  12. any business analysts on here prepared to give their twopenneth on wether shephered is being hampered in the running of the club by the uncertainty over the hall families shareholding.
  13. How has he done a good job? Transfers - why did he completely ignore our most desperate requirements. Tactically - inept Substitutions - NOT PATTINSON YOU ARSE! Motivation - seemingly zero he didn't ignore them but was unable to get what he wanted/needed....unlike some previous managers who if they couldn't get the right one would just get anyone.right one or anyone, you decide ? He was unable to get what he wanted?? WE HAVE NO LEFT BACK. ANd a championship centre back. If he couldn't find what he needed, he should be taken outside and shot, because thats a core function of his job. The f****** idiot. finding and getting are two seperate things...yet again i'll ask,do you want us signing more sub-standard players for the sake of it or wiating to get someone you want ?
  14. i reckon what old type is on about is that for all the bitching there is little creative being said...it starts with "we're shit so shepherd and roeder out and erm....that's it!"

    Roeder Out

he was expecting them to be as open at the back as they were over here,he was also expecting some of our players to fancy it.
  16. Still better than Shambles. behind the wheel,on the golf course perhaps, but not on the football pitch on current form
  17. nooooooooo.........echoes of mark lwarenson

    Roeder Out

Yes, and I often felt like a voice in the wilderness on the subject that Roeder was NOT the man, and that three quarters wanted him (the abuse I got from that comment alone was unbelievable ! Especially as the prats denying it were ones who HAD praised Roeder and said he should get the job) - I was pilloried by many on here including several commenting against Roeder RIGHT NOW. At this moment. Proven right on him doesnt make me feel any better, believe me. There were quite alot of us on here who didnt want him as manager. Frustrating as f*** after all that crap Freddy told us about taking his time, appointing the right man, having to go abroad if he had to get the right man, how it was his last chance. Pissed plenty of us off when it became clear that Glenn was to be our next manager and we were looking to bend all the rules in an effort to make that appointment. The big fat pig aka freddy shepherd is a liar and always will be He also said that we will sign players in January because of the biggest injury crisis in the club's history Maybe he is good businessman but he knows s*** about football Thats why he appointed Souness and then Roeder when he should have looked for some top class manager like SBR was do you know what we tried in the transfer window ? do you want us,if we can't get the players we want,to get (more) sub standard players ?
  19. hindsight though, campbell at the time looked like going downhill rapidly.and i was one who said getting him mightened be a bad move.
  20. both bramble and taylor would look better in better defences,in teams that defended as a unit. it's an age old newcastle going back as far as pat howard that i can remember.

    Roeder Out

Fair point. But he has to have a little time don't you think ? The rest have had more than enough, and have been found wanting (to say the least) So far Gooch has been no worse, and that just starting off. yes he does need more games,i just thought your "gooch is one" was very definite. even then how can we gauge a defender with the way we defend as a team ?

    Roeder Out

The only club he managed to "fight off" was us. The players going elsewhere, went - and for what was offered. He demanded 3 times what the player was worth to us, then off the player went elsewhere for a fraction of what he demanded of us. (Steed whatsits for example) I'd prefer to keep Roeder than that tosser. Isn't this what we were screaming at Roeder at BOTH transfer deadlines ? Gooch is one - we needed 4 times as many. Bring in Houllier. what have you seen from onyewu to think he is better than what we already have ?
  24. we'll beat charlton with a strong defensive performance.......the newcastle way,do it when it counts for nowt!
