  1. i would go.......... given beye rozenhal faye enrique milner butt emre n'zogbia viduka martins playing butt as a more defensive midfielder and emre as the more advanced. i would normally give a prediction as to allardyce's team but i have given up trying to work out what bizzarre formatioin he is likely to try this time.
  2. and what would you expect him to say " yup guv,you av me bang to roights guvnor"
  3. I'd have a street party tbh. me too, already got council permission to block the street off
  4. can't be hard to challange SSN. just repeat the headlines over and over and have a couple of regional reporters on hand to tell you something is happening behind closed doors and he'll bring it to you as soon as he finds out what.
  5. Very unrealistic. 8th was optimistic. now wildly optimistic
  6. John Cornwell was a serious pisshead as was Michael O'Neil. he wasn't till he came up here and o'neill was a cracking lad. he was at gosforth to finish his exams (geogoraphy in particular) with a friend of mine. they all tried to have a go at the flashy famous lad but he was too good a lad in the end and was very popular. I never said they weren't good lads or popular etc, i just saw them in town a lot pissed as i was at the time as well! Seen Michael O' Neil absolutely mortal and puking his guts up in the alleyway beside Masters on more than one ocassion and Cornwell's flat in Blackfriars was renowned for its wild parties as well. i didn't take it that way, i was just adding a little more into the characters.

  10. Now I was sure that was the fella who got coined when laying down in front of the Gallowgate with a broken leg. Not so sure now though. Anyone remember? aye, even though there was only one tv camera in the main stand it still picked up the sound of the break, john anderson stood in front, glaring at the crowd as some fuckwits threw coins. it was accidental but as it happened i was at the back of the gallowgate corner and everyone around me had their head shrink into their shoulders a bit as that tackle hit.
  11. allardyce 54 fat fred 65 souness 54
  12. Percentage football. Big job. Sections of the support without patience. Not enough money on the table from the board. Given time will build a difficult side to beat, occassional big scalp top 6 stuff. Over analytical missing factor 'x'...Understands the game but lacks vision. Modus operandi is to fix the club top to bottom will need two years. Should be given the 2 years and money. Then bring in the next level of manager who can challenge for top 4 consistently. I wouldn't sack him unless we were in relegation battle which we won't be. Review in summer at the very least. Yes he will be in a job unless we've lined up a top tier manager (not Benny). these are the views of parky, they do not reflect the views and opinions of wider board.
  13. so he'll have to move then yak yak yak
  14. now that would be a shame I thought you'd be gutted Parky. He'll get the sack, Allardyce won't last much longer and Newcastle was one of the clubs mentioned (along with Bayern Munich and England) by Benitez' mate Guillem Ballague on Revista de la Liga last nite. :parky: all part of the plan, benitez to bayern and the manager of bayern to nufc....whoever that may be. Ottmar Hitzfeld is it ? well who would have thunk it. ottmar hitzfeld is the newcastle on line football section version of mornington crescent

  16. thinking of rijkaard, guillit, van basten, beckenbaur, keegan, dalglish, hughes. is there many top players who have jumped in to the top flight or international and have failed ? stuart pearce.....any others.
  17. Bad news about Enrique, nothing good can come out of that. It means either Carr or N'Zogbia will replace him I would think. not to mention for all he was poor against liverpool he is the best left back at the club...or is it just allardyces way of making sure milner doesn't play on the right ?
  18. the needs and qualities of managing at the different levels are vastly different. the talents needed at the bottom of div 2 with no money are totally different to those needed in the prem with millions to spend.
  19. i was in the picture in the sunday sun (page 9 i think) leaving early...86mins.
  20. Not being funny, but what if Fred had said that bit in bold? I reckon World War III would have kicked pretty quickly with people on here banging on about him interfering in team affairs and talking about stuff that's nothing to do with him. Which would be true of course and which apply to Mort in this instance. Whether or not we need new players is one for the team manager to decide, not for Mort to decide. i agree, but as you've said yourself, the board don't seem convinced by allardyce as he wasn't their appointment, so should they entrust him with big funds? we made that mistake with souness who blew £50m, very little of it spent wisely, which set us back in football terms as well as financially (decreasing future funds and increasing debt which ashley had to pay off so he has effectively paid the money for the likes of Owen). you could read mort's comments as saying 'it doesn't matter how much we let him spend, if he can't get the team playing well it will be money down the drain' - mort is perhaps suggesting tht the problems are down to Allardyce rather than the quality of the squad. i'm not saying we don't need more players, we're short when it comes to creativity and also lack a bit of athleticism/pace, but the question is, do you let Allardyce have the funds to sort it out in january or do you wait till the summer and a possible new manager? i could well see mort and ashley give allardyce little backing in january then when they get a new managfer in the summer, give him a big kitty. the quotes in the papers today seem eerily like the dreaded 'vote-of-confidence', when mort was asked if he backed sam he said words to the effect of "i'd like to" not "i already do". so if allardyce doesn't turn it around quickly he could be out sooner than we think. i don't think it's so much the arsenal and blackburn games but the 4 after that. if we perform in those 4 as we have recently i don't think they'll be able to risk keeping him.
  21. a) it's nowt but a prress rumour b) we don't know if he's crap or a fantastic prospect c) sign good players when you can,you may need a forward but that shouldn't stop you getting quality players for other positions when they come along. a) You're gay b) You're a big gay c) Gay gay gay gay GAY! you done well to keep the flies out of your food photo's

Whether or not we need new players is one for the team manager to decide, not for Mort to decide. it's a bit of both really. mort is right that they need to perform on the pitch as a unit, that can be started with the present group of players then improved upon with other/better players.
