From what I've read about Fonseca it's hard to judge what "his" style of play. At Shaktar it was easy to play a possession game as they had the best players and played a different game in Europe. At Roma he changed from a back 4 to a 3 as different players came in. Maybe he doesn't have a set style of play, just likes to be attacking and uses his players to what he thinks suits them ?

Got to disagree. You can mitigate a poor full back, strengthen his side of midfield when defending, 3 centre halves etc.....we don't have a Centre midfielders worthy of the name and its probably the most crucial position on the park and we are two short

I wonder how they decide what is a fair amount for spo sponsorship ? I remember reading about Man Utd having a deal which I think was more than our main sponsors at the time purely to be associated with a Thai tyre brand or some such. Ie the tyre makers gave Man utd million s just to use their crest etc officially in Thailand.

We know the way FFP fines have worked in the past, 200milluon over ffp, 10million fine or a years transfer embargo after they've already bought everyone they wanted.

And PSG backdated a sponsorship deal and you can always loan a player for a season to push his eventual transfer fee down the line (Mmmmmmmmmbappeeeee).

I saw the bigger issue was their forwards and midfielders finding gaps between our midfield and defence right across and not wanting to drop back because that would invite them on even more.

They aren't immobile, many of the stats have them very mobile but it's pointless if they are chasing instead blocking. Shelvey could run further and faster and it would count for nowt as he can't read a game defensively, Hayden has always hid save for a spell of 6 games or so and Longstaff has a good shot from 25yds and has shown little else si ce his first couple of games including his last few games under Rafa.

I don't see how, it's not just legs, it's brain. A player can run all day but if he can't read the game defensively he'll always be chasing. It's what we've done for ages when we basically had 2 centre midfielders on the centre halves toes and relying on 2 or 3 to break. Bruce's main issue imo was to try and please the fans by playing more open which with our midfield just means more gaps.

You'll be surprised how quick an awful culture and divided squad can be remedied if things start going better. More of an issue for me is the playing staff themselves in that we don't have any central midfielders worthy of the term. Seriously think 2 decent central midfielders in the current squad, injuries permitting (Yes I mean ASM and Wilson) and its comfortably mid table.
