  1. Needs to notch a few in that team though.
  2. Does it include wages as paid out for the full length of the contract ? It's not like we can say we have "X" amount to spend this year on running the club while ignoring the year after, any figure given to Rafa will ge a guesstimate, may end up higher, maybe lower.
  3. Even better is that the Mackems will see Chelsea lift the title at Stamford Bridge when they play them. Just to rub it in more It happened a while back when The Mackems got everything they wanted, they wanted to see the league title lifted at the stadium of light, records broken etc.....Arsenal lifted the trophy and Sunderland went down with one of their record lows.

He had Keegan who could have made it work, then Shearer and now Rafa. Maybe it's not true after all what they say about old dogs? Having said that, let's wait and see how the summer unfolds, but the signs right now indicate Ashley may have finally had an epiphany and decided to entrust a knowledgeable person with affairs of which he hasn't the faintest himself. As much of a legend Keegan was here having Rafa is a totally different kettle of fish to him or Shearer. Right on Shearer, wrong on Keegan. IMO of course.
  5. Agree with this mind I feel like the wages alone will mean we won't be buying from City imo. Even their squad players probably get paid more than anyone who currently plays for us. Which clubs that can pay the wages would take him though ? A lot and besides the state of the club they are joining would decide if they are willing to take a cut etc. Rafa is amazing and all but that only goes so far in the short term imo, I can't see us pursuing players who are currently paid the sort of money City would be paying their players. You say lots but outside of the English top 6, 3 in Spain, 2 in Germany and 2 or 3 in Italy I'd be surprised if he'd get a bigger wage and there's a reason he's at Valencia instead of those other clubs. We don't seem to skimp on wages so I can see us being competitive with most of the Top flight outside the top 6 in negotiations.

  7. The news today confirms (in theory) that we're going to be run like a normal football club, with a top class manager in place. Any NUFC supporter that doesn't recognise that's something to be happy about must have had their eyes and ears sellotaped shut for the last decade. Or maybe they're just as thick as f*** and think the Ashley era has been acceptable. Think it's more that we've heard similar from Ashley before, his deeds were somewhat different. All's good so far and I personally think Ashley knows that if he fucks it up with Benitez right now then he'd never be able to build the club to being much of an asset (which is after all how he sees it).
  8. no doubt the players, fans and most of the officials at those clubs know that....but I'll bet the owners think they are now part of the Premier and are ready to do whatever it takes. I'll even go so far as to say be ready to be in place when the ladder is pulled up.
  9. Wasn't all that dramatic tbh. Seriously ? He normally makes a big thing with anything last minuteish. Maybe Hartlepool done him in. Maybe needs replacing for next season, may I nominate Penelope Cruz.
  10. Depends on what we (the fee) and the player (wages) would accept.
  11. Been trying to find any youtube footage of Jeff Stelling at the time of the Vuilla equaliser, can't find owt.

A lot of our support thought we would win it by Christmas and go the whole season without defeat. A lot ?

Are they ? Most of those I know are looking at mid table. Far to early (for them and us). Wait till September 1st to give thiose sort of predictions.

NUFC related threads currently 5 of the first 10 on RTG. They aren't taking this very well are they ?
  15. The meeting is the easy bit. Getting Ashley to fulfill the promises is something else.

    Champions!

Knowing how I felt after that Leeds equaliser, and having nothing against Brighton, I feel for them a little. Late equalisers are always tough to take but for it to take the title away. That's got to hurt. That said, it's a very rare treat to be on the right end of one of these moments for a change I'm sure they won't give a shit tomorrow. It's all about prepping for next season now.

Another whip round for a plane to chase that one with a "Not in my name" banner.

Bit concerned about Millwall's chance of going there. Like shit they'll choose to camp in Sunderland overnight.
  19. He's a father. Imagine that man being your dad. I'd catfish him so my mum leaves him, to be honest. Nope. On what he's on you'd milk it for as long as you can.......and it shouldn't be much longer.
  20. I've posted on them before. Right the top few teams separate off, halve their points, only play on Mondays and double points if there's a full moon type system. Pretty sure the goals are invisible and refereeing is by popular vote.
  21. Sporting ? Of course. Third time this season they've let me down too. Pacos- Benfica stuffed up an 8-timer and I even watched it
  22. Hate, loathe and detest the Portuguese league. I never learn.
  23. That photograph gives me a lot of hope, Ashley looks genuinely happy, I hope it's not just because of the Sky money we're going to get. Its not the "meeting" this week we have to worry about. Rafa will probably be promised everything he wants. It's if it's followed through on. God I hope so.
