  1. surprised he didn't stammer over his choices, could've went with scholes, irwin, phil neville, ince, etc etc etc etc, consistently among the snidiestly dirty teams out there but allowed to get away with it through cowed officials.
  2. krul debuchy willo mapou santon sissoko tiote anita ben arfa gouffran remy 5 across the middle when out of possession, gouffran and very much a 3 with sissoko aswell pushing on when in possession. rocket under ben arfas arse to move off the ball.
  3. "stole" implies he nicked in. he bullied them off the ball.
  4. yohan's celebration after hitting the deck (are celebrations classed as goals ?), the clenched fists "YES!"
  5. is someone going to get the southampton match thread started ? theres only so long we can gloat over old trafford, too long and we'll come over as a giantkilling lower league club.
  6. have to say I don't think he's reverted to what he was, he's quicker at keeping it moving than he was during his previous good form, for me he's currently better than he has been at any time here.

    Football pet hates

just remembered why I stopped watching the sunday suplement and goals on sunday (the latter I just record then whizz through), they are soooo obsessed by a certain handfull of clubs.
  8. that was 84, bank holiday monday, I was there! I meant keegan promotion season as keegan as player. (god I feel old again)
  9. last league win away at man city I can remember was in the keegan promotion season, has there been one since then ?
  10. That pass is the pass of the season so far for me. if you pause it a split second before he sets himself you get a little angry that he's got the ball, steadied himself and theres nothing, a wall of defenders and no options, then the tiniest move from debuchy and we are away. when we got ben arfa on loan and people said "just enjoy him being here" I always thought if he proved himself he'd sign, the bigger clubs would want more proof, with remy though I really am just enjoying him being here in the short term.
  11. that ball from remy to debuchy man. it's not about getting men in the box, it's about movement and footballing intelligence.
  12. It's a bit unusual, I think, that we haven't got more draws lately - as I don't feel our performances have been especially polarised (extremely good or bad), but we've been pretty good at hanging on to leads lately, partly due to luck or factors outside of hand yes, but also because of a lot of discipline and hard work. Equally, I can see the Swansea game being repeated throughout the season too. thats us all over, when we get beat we get beat bad, even though for me the performance wasn't as bad as that, frustrating as it was. next few games could easily see us beat southampton, palace and stoke, narrow defeat to arsenal then go down by 4 at west brom. it's the way we roll.
  13. the cup win was the steve watson chip wasn't it ? I was just thinking league games. you get the feeling that the man city would've happened even if they hadn't been taken over, we have to have somewhere like that, like we had the dell for years.
  14. thi Been holding out, but... all these sexy Cabaye photos... Willpower could crumble any minute now, one more pint could do it. in all my years it's always been my fave away strip (mid 70's) The yellow long sleeve from Toffs is the most beautiful thing ever. this the bad boy ? http://www.toffs.com/content/images/thumbs/0000942_1166fullimage.jpg.jpg

  16. aye good one, 93-94 against 'never'.
  17. where's our hoodoo now ? I'm guessing anfield.
  18. You might understand if you ever have your own wife and kids. I have. if it was that important I'd rap the game in. it's not like he'll ever really need to work again.
  19. I wouldn't bother with that distinction at all. Judge a fan by the quality of his support, not by his place of birth. Glory hunters can be born in Newcastle, Manchester, or Seoul. Real supporters can be born in all of those places as well. to add a caveat to that "judge a fan by the quality of his support, when they are down and have been down for a while and don't look like coming back"
  20. I don't (In US sports I'm a pittsburgh fan, what does that make me ?) but there is a contradiction in that someone born and bred in Newcastle, no ties to Manchester but a man utd fan is a glory hunter yet one born in Seoul isn't ?
  21. Ooooooh this'll set the cat among the doves.........does that mean only domestic football fans can be glory hunters ?.
  22. he did play rubbish, doesn't mean he is rubbish and players coming into poorly performing teams from "lesser" leagues have to be given time.
  23. got to be frank clark till breaking his duck, must've been about 400games at the time, even that was in the league cup. don't think he scored a league goal for us in 450 or so games for us.
  24. get yopu point but if you come in to a much higher paced, more powerful league, teams not doing well, confidence dips, you have less energy etc. using the colo example I don't think he'd have been nearly as bad in his first season (Oh yes he was Ron!) if he hadn't been surrounded by chaos and lack of confidence all round him.
