Can we not just promote him up the striker pecking order above Joselu at least and start getting him some premier league minutes?

Looks like it falls to me to be a jobsworth spoilsport and merge them then

Tiny glimmer of joy and the match thread turns into an AA meeting

Is this basically the replay pre-match thread or can nobody be arsed to make one?
-
Aside from the obvious "Hurr, durr, I was just pretending to be an idiot, I got you good" are BT happy that he;s using his pundit position not to give insight, but to say things which are wrong just because lol, got a reaction?

Neutrals' responses to hairy hands' comments

I have. Ashley sympathisers. The type of sheep keeping him here Their revenue relies on people reading and clicking on the plugs for The Warerooms and bookies through their match preview in between finding out who the ref is. They don't offer anything in the way of wider insight, it's all about match reports, stats, ticket information, the mechanical details of supporting a normal club. They benefit from encouraging complacency, from people not really caring about the big picture and just dutifully following from match to match as if nothing's wrong. If people see following Newcastle as pointless, if they have more to worry about than if we last beat today's opponents on Boxing Day 2003, then visiting nufc.com is pointless.

Don't get the feeling we'll go down. Would be too interesting. Scrap survival in turgid mediocrity.

On BT Jenas actually did a good job as the voice of reason last time they discussed Newcastle. It's difficult for people in the situation where someone is spouting such utter unmitigated nonsense, because the appropriate answer is that say "What the fuck are you on about? You are absolutely thick as pig shit on this matter, and you've no business even sitting here giving an opinion about it, everything you've just said is either a deliberate lie or wilful ignorance" but common courtesy and professionalism preclude you from doing that.

Thank you Ashley, very cool.

Says a lot about the club that this is the best post for about 5 pages

Stat being discussed on Reddit today, net spend under Rafa's entire tenure so far, minus £26.5m. Net spend in just the 15/16 season under McClaren, £93m.

Our kids were the underdogs, but usually in cup competitions being the underdogs comes with certain perks which make upsets more likely. The favourites may be complacent, field a weakened team, not genuinely want to progress, they may have a more important match on their mind, their support may be disinterested or simply not turn up. In this case, our kids were the underdogs but none of this applied, because it was one of the most important games of their season and one they absolutely couldn't lose even if they have no interest in the competition.

Can you imagine how miserable Jose would be managing us lot and working with Ashley, Christ.

Looks like they've been animated by John Kricfalusi.

I'd be inclined to think it's a lame excuse, but I was horrified to find a photo of me on a night out made it look like I was doing some kind of Maradona style "slitty eyes" gesture, when it was actually a freeze frame of the universally accepted "Think about it man" symbol.

So if Rafa doesn't sign a contract, the plan is just not to invest any money and get relegated? In what world does that make sense?
