Hope it's at least settled one way or the other, but I think even if the club loses arbitration that some people are far too emotionally invested in positive optimism and will start claiming that - or looking for clues that -there will be an appeal, or that the plan all along was to lose the arbitration and the Premier League have walked right into a trap.

He's lucked out in that a good manager may well tell players like ASM and Willock "just go out there and play", which luckily is the sum total of Bruce's tactical instruction to all players anyway.

But that would hurt the faaaans, and it's not their fault. Sorry, but so fucking what? Club owners doing stupid things which are completely out of the control of the fans, often directly against the wishes of the fans, hurts their fans. That's life and we know it as well as anyone. You could make this excuse about anything. Rangers fans didn't fiddle their taxes, Swindon fans didn't make illegal payments to players, but their fans had to watch them play in lower leagues. Newcastle fans didn't engage in state sponsored piracy of fucking Bein, but we're the ones hurt by the Premier League considering it to be relevant to the O&D test. "Well, that was a two footed tackle, but if I sent you off then you'll probably lose the final and that's not really fair on your fans, it wasn't them who went in with their studs up. Maybe you could just pay a fine and stay on the pitch so it only hurts you and not them?" I'm sure Everton, West Ham, Leicester, Wolves fans won't feel particularly hurt by it. Docking the rebel six points doesn't mean no fans get the enjoyment of finishing fourth or playing in Europe, just that it might be a different set of fans, instead of fans of teams where the owners care so little about the league that they tried to mount a coup against it. Dock them points, chuck them out of Europe, damage something they care about like their brand, not their overdraft. The attitude that you can solve problems just by chucking a load of money about is what caused this whole shitshow in the first place, and if they're allowed to buy their way out of it and maintain the same incredibly powerful position, knowing they're untouchable as a footballing force, then its going to happen again.

This "Oh we listened to the fans" stuff is such bollocks, if City and Chelsea hadn't pulled out Liverpool and Man U would absolutely be going ahead with it still.
-
Surely seeing as the whole point of it was that the founder members had complete control and ownership of the league they just pay it to each other?

Swansea wiki reckons "They were admitted into the Football League in 1920 and won the Third Division South title in 1924–25. They again won the Third Division South title in 1948–49, having been relegated two years previously." When they were formed there was no Welsh league for them to join.

So fuck? Does that mean we don't get to see these players play, they retire? No.

Yep

Oooh, I do hope lots of hedge funds have been buying shares during this peak on the promise of guaranteed success forver.
-
I mean.. Surely they could have predicted this? Did they think the backlash would only/mostly be from the fans of pleb teams that didn't get to be in it, rather than the big six fans all hating their own clubs?

"I was only joining the ESL to get directions AWAY from the ESL"

Don't understand what even happens here, as well as competing in your domestic league (assuming they can't kick you out of it) you get to play one season in a league of teams which have loads more money than you and get fucking hammered every week, and even if you were by some miracle to win it, or finish above Spurs and Arsenal, you don't get invited back next year because Spurs and Arsenal are there forever?
-
The guy behind this scheme thinks a 90 minute match is too long and boring for their target audience and the length of games might need to be reduced, how is he going to keep them watching hours of programming either side and inbetween?
-
Give a few few years and Real Madrid and Liverpool will wonder why they're evenly sharing the pie with chumps like Spurs and Arsenal who don't ave the same draw and break off to form a Super Duper League.

My dad's the Newcastle fan quoted in this article near the bottom, got vox-popped by the Manchester Evening News whole wandering around Manchester in his Newcastle training mac. He wouldn't let them take his photo mind. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-united-super-league-20419652
