Yeah it's a night and day difference to how ASM can play when Wilson is the other threat up top and not Wood. yeah he's not great at all and I don't think there's much more Howe or anyone could squeeze out of him with a change of systems or personnel around him. the cost was unfortunate circumstances. even chris wood doesn't think chris wood should cost 25m. but it's also not like he'll be starting many, if any, games next year and this eases my stress about him considerably, given my only hope for this season post-takeover was survival and with 8 to 10 games to go and 9 points clear I'm fairly comfortable.

First half was excellent, second was duff. Our run has been amazing but today was a good reminder that it's been more about playing out of our skins and that we still have a squad a bit light on quality and who will tire and make mistakes. What Howe's done is give that group the belief and spine to not let their inevitable mistakes get to them. Persevered for a win and I can't argue with that. No one was godawful overall, though they may have had spells of not-so-goodness.

A simple test for me would be: Would I be as offended if a statement - not just this particular statement, but any - had been made about Ashley or while Ashley was in charge? (I don't think Ashley has ever even been accused of something like that, so accuracy is not important) For this case I think I would. We never liked him as the owner/face of the club but it's a pretty shit thing to say and there's always collateral offense by association. Now, would social media mob justice have been meted out? I mean probably not, that's fair. I'm just not too arsed about him tbh.

"The world we live in" includes corporations with pathologies around maintaining pristine reputations and images. Tarnishing them by association is a punishable offense in every contract I've seen even if not stated in those exact words. The only people getting away with it - shock jocks, outrage merchants and the like - are those that bring in enough cash, and even then only to some extent. I can't imagine any adult employee of a large organization failing to know that in this day and age. There is no pleading ignorance to the attacks you open yourself up to when it comes to doing that on a public platform like Twitter. That said, that vanity is obviously a weak spot being exploited by the petty and vindictive. Was a sacking justified here? Probably not.
