IF THEY'D PLAYED MUCH BETTER THAN US THEY WOULD HAVE WON, HOW DARE YOU BE HAPPY THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

(SNES) ULTIMATE SHITHOUSE FOOTBALL '94

the exaggerated droop shelvey assumes when he's facing someone who has the ball has always bothered me. it's like museum display of a chimp walking upright, only marginally less likely to actually win the ball. Game's kinda sucked so far as well but I had to get that off my chest. Think it's there to be won though, think we can do it. Holding out hope.

world's gone soft mate. in my day if you wanted a player you raided the other club's training ground and kidnapped them. none of these agents and cellphones.

I'd be 100% okay if someone in our back office was pranking Luke with multiple conflicting stories
-
M. Night Shyamalan twist here but what if all these transfer shenanigans are completely normal, only we've been living under the Fog of Ashley for so long we'd forgotten.

people like to meme but i'll remind them the Positivity Thread is undefeated. We do not forgive. We do not forget.

Same. should be a poll. with consequences.

love owt like people posting "tick tock" like we're watching some bomb timer shave off the seconds in a crime thriller
-
literally pocket change when weighed against the risk of relegation. Funny though, I'm still so in the Ashley-era mindset that I almost instantly gave up hope at "3.5m"

Really don't think the pitiable commercial/retail revenues of the last regime will continue under the new ownership, so it's a bit early to come to that conclusion.

if they use this to fund a move for botman i'll be severely conflicted

We weren't even that well liked before, tbh. How many years of brainless "the fans expect champions league every year" comments did we deal with? Or the disdain for being "Everyone's second team" or "having great away support" commentary from pundits ... as though we invented those labels for ourselves? I'm done giving a fuck what anyone else thinks.

If you buy in to that idea - which I don't - then the inaccuracy argument still goes both ways: if you can't accurately judge him then you can't just assume he's better than the poor results. He could be worse than the results. It's time to move on.

Reappointing Rafa would be a backwards-looking move of pure nostalgia. He's firmly in the Mourinho zone. Will always love the guy but his time has passed. You're desperate to feel the same way as his first time around but it's never the same. No thank you.

Opinions are not inherently valuable or deserve respect. If I have the opinion Chris Wood is better than Shearer I should receive pushback for having a dysfunctional brain. In a similar manner, yearning for the return of rafa is not an inspirational viewpoint and I refuse to entertain it as meaningful. I love the man for what he did here but a return would be horrible. Also I'm usually hyperbolic for the sake of levity, sometimes that doesn't come across.
-
anyone wanting rafa back is an unhinged lunatic and it's not up for discussion
-
genuinely laughed out loud at him popping up like "you want some?" when pedro came over gums flapping

eat my fucking dick

we had like 5 good minutes and the drugs wore off

I mean, who says we weren't? Just because we're just now hearing about a deal today doesn't mean it was only set in motion 4 hours ago.

if Y is "actual goal contributions per 90", X axis is probably the "expected goal contributions per 90" stat seen in those little detail boxes. upper-left players are the overperformers.

Burnley will find some kind of cloggerball savant that scores 12 for them and wouldn't have worked under howe, and wood will score 8, and everyone will fanny about saying how we should have signed their sentient brick wall instead for that money
