Smith and Owen to start together upfront against Germany
Wullie replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
Didn't Smith and Owen start up front for England B a few months ago? Smith scored a good goal iirc. -
Not quite. Although everything Sam says is factually true, he also ommits some important facts (such as Martins saying he's very happy to be here and doesn't want to leave and us being in talks to secure a new deal without the infamous clause), which renders the message as a whole a bit strange if he indeed wants to keep Martins here. He could equally have stuck to the facts by saying "Martins is very happy to be here and in we're in talks to keep him at the club for a longer period of time, so I don't think it is very likely he will want to leave even if somebody bid the amount that's in the clause" and conveyed a completely different sentiment. blueyes.gif Agreed. People are just uneasy to admit that the only striker fit and regularly scoring isn't fancied by the manager for whatever reason.

Why should he keep bothering? The papers are going to run with it anyway cos the club are giving them jack shit. Roll on September 1st.

Well every few days there seems to be some report or other going on about Martins 'clause'. And what's that got to do with Anelka? As for the Martins' stories, it's called the papers making stuff up. They have a quota to fill, they have to write one NUFC story per day on average, one of our star players has a release clause - it's not difficult to see how that's the easiest bullshit story to peddle. Funny how any talk of Owen has dried up now his clause has expired isn't it? You'd think all the managers who were desperate to sign him when it was still there wouldn't just lose interest, especially now he's fit again. The reason they have is because they never existed in the first place. He knows SA's system inside out? He is available and better than Martins in every conceivable way. The Owen stuff will be back if he scores for England or gets crocked. So Sam MUST be after him? He's not mate, sorry to break it to you.

Looks like Martins is being made available for the right price. Dontcha think? He's available at £13m whether we like or not. Fuck all to do with him being made available.

How does it look like Oliver was right?

I see a few of the papers today are saying Pompey are trying to offload Nugent.
-
Hope Boro don't buy Alves with the money.

Only way he'll be ready to play is game time. As long as he doesn't crock himself again, an hour or so will do him the world of good. And if he does crock himself, well he would have done it anyway, let's face it. -
Why is that a concern while he's the owner? Who's suggested "figures like 5 years"? quoted as saying he has a 5 year plan for the club.. in which we'll be in the champs league. That said, i have no reason not to trust him Link? Took me ages because it's old as f*ck but heres an extract from an article: "Ashley is also expected to talk about his plans and ambitions for the club once he has reached the 90% ownership target. Initial suggestions were that he wanted the Magpies to be able to win the Premiership League Title within three years and be competing for the European Champions League within five years. That is a very aggressive plan to say the least" heres the link if you want it. http://nufcblog.com/mike-ashley-gets-closer-to-taking-newcastle-united-private/ It's on nufcblog, it might as well be written in stone as far as I'm concerned. 100% nailed on. knew somebody would have a dig.. he asked for a link and thats the only place i could find it... there were some direct quotes from the big man's representatives, but since its been ages the story's problaby long gone. Not questioning his intentions.. just responding That's the thing, I don't believe there were. "A club insider" or "a source close to Ashley" is not enough. If these people don't have names, they probably don't exist. Unless Chris Mort has said it, I'll take with a huge pinch of salt.

It's great for us to not be the ones fucking things up at this stage of the season. The way Spurs have handled this is shocking. Two games ffs.

Have you met kingdawson?

In a "do you trust your lass to stay faithful"? kind of way, in light of all these stories about others interested in buying the club. Quite a vague poll I know and a daft one but on sheer instinct, does anyone trust him? Your analogy is ever so slightly flawed btw. If I had a lass, I'd probably have met her. However, if I'd never met her or heard her speak, had only ever seen two pictures of her and then I heard she was sleeping round with Icelandic businessmen, I might be slightly sceptical about the relationship.

Quite a vague poll I know and a daft one but on sheer instinct, does anyone trust him? Well, do you mean "do I trust him to put a solid amount of money into the club and into transfers?" or "do I trust him not to sell SJP and turn it into a huge Sports World, while taking the club into the Conference?" I've no reason to think Ashley or Chris Mort has anything other than the club's best intentions at heart, there's my answer.

We'd be fucked in January.
