Nice to see our players getting themselves along to support Premier League rivals.
-
Extra league place. Losing League Cup finalists get fuck all.
-
As long as we won the final derby, I'd quite happily never play them again.
-
They always fucking beat them man, they're in league with the bloody devil.
-
If they play City in the final, I don't have a single shred of doubt that they'd beat them.
-
Aye I'm proper obsessed not wanting our biggest rivals to win a fucking trophy like. Jesus Christ.

Well said! If you look at the net spends to get into the top four every year it is far superior to the 25-35M outlay we and the likes of southampton dream about. Oops! forgot, we can't compete with the likes of Southampton can we (Copyright - Percy)? Not sure I buy that. Arsenal have qualified for about 17 seasons on the bounce and I doubt there's more than one or two seasons where they've spent that much in net outlay.
-
The worry is that they end up with a final against City, in which case they'll roll them over.
-
Chelsea are disgustingly shit. Fuck off.
-
I'd say that probably happens quite often. Roeder, Robson and Keegan (twice) for us for a start.
-
Hardly Hughton's fault that Pardew's record in the Championship and League One with several teams is fairly dire.
-
No point beating Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd only to slip up against Swansea, Southampton and Palace. Really need to win this and Stoke to give us breathing space before a few tough fixtures.
-
Not a foolproof way to create chances really though is it, closing down the goalkeeper? We certainly weren't unlucky not to win the game, which is what seems to be being claimed. We invited them on, they scored then we tried to score again, as is always our gameplan. Why we can't try and score another before they've levelled remains the eternal mystery. We did the same against West Brom and were grateful to Sissoko for lashing one in from range.

Pardew can't legislate for Remy not burying the chance but Southampton can't for the keeper making a complete fuck up of his clearance. Can't claim it was unlucky when getting the chance in the first place was sheer fluke. We created very little on the day, even our goal was a complete howler by the defender.

And the problem remains that our players stand still and watch him when he has the ball. The opposition regularly put three men on him, which means there's space elsewhere, yet nobody running into it.

Sigh. I think a player of HBA talents should producing a lot more. The guy wasn't far away from the likes of Gareth Bale couple years ago. Now... he's miles away. Gareth Bale tended to play. I think that helped him tbh.
-
You'd be hard pressed not to find a player like HBA who doesn't waste a lot of good opportunities tbh, because they create so many for themselves. Suarez made a right mess of a couple today (notably when he could have squared to Henderson for a tap in but went greedy and had his shot saved). If that's your one chance in the game then it's a problem. If you're that good that you get into ten of those positions and waste seven, it's less of a concern. Pretty sure that statistically the player who gives the ball away most in Europe is Messi, and has been for years.

The first half was really boring.
