  1. I saw that. Makes no sense at all. Totally different position and style to Pienaar, you wouldn't want to sell and he wouldn't get Cahill out of our side anyway. Top paper, the Metro. Someone on Blue Kipper the other day said he was the "perfect long time successor to Tim Cahill" Not sure what Victor Anichebe would say about that mind, though it is mental that Nolan's younger than Cahill.
  2. It would be, if he actually played in midfield. Last year he spent most of the time as a second striker. Not knocking the importance of his goals, but he's not been playing midfield in anything like the traditional sence of the word. Deep striker at best. Don't think he did like, most often appeared centrally in a 4-4-2, especially at home.
  3. There's only one nose Modric was snatched from underneath.
  4. Loved his quote in interview about "I practiced them yesterday and none went in so I'm delighted"
  5. As you were please. If we take it to them and do what we've been doing, AC9 and Shola have the potential to cause them real problems. They don't like it up 'em.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

    Can someone post that please?
  7. I thought the discipline he showed having been booked was fantastic, given that it didn't affect his performance at all.
  8. Elmo? Who the fuck are you like, his bezzie mate?
  9. Best game in black and white for me, I thought he was superb. Some of his long range passes were unbelievable. Much prefer him in a slightly wider role as Tiote and Nolan are much better at keeping possession which is my main problem with him.
  10. I thought he was meant to be annoyed about not taking it? Saw a clip at half time of him looking like he wasn't happy about it but then I've not seen it since.
  11. Lazy malicious journalism perhaps ? True, but this scepticism about Hughton isn't just confined to the press. I can only go by what I read on here, but there seems to be a lot of hesitation about granting him full recognition amongst some supporters. I think it stems back from the way in which he got the job. When a coach becomes caretaker, and then gets the permanent job, it's natural to wonder whether at some stage he's going to be found out. I spent the first half of last season wondering when it was all going to go belly-up. Of course, it didn't. Every time there was a setback, the team just picked itself up and got going again. The same thing seems to be happening this season. This team has the capacity to shake off pressure and stay focused, and I'm sure that's what Hughton has brought to the club. The other big plus is his judgement of players to bring in. Despite a small budget, we've been strengthened significantly in both transfer windows. But as I say, this attitude of 'when is Hughton going to fail' still lingers. But he seems to have the ability that only the best managers have - which is to re-focus the players on the next game regardless of victory or defeat previously. You can even see it during games, when we pick up our performance in the second halves of matches. There was this funny sense on Wednesday - and this is typical - that even after a 4-0 home defeat we didn't look like a beaten side. Nobody's head dropped. No-one would be saying these things if he had a fashionable name.
  12. Always loved how Emre's free kick was absolutely identical to the one Scott Sellars scored. Different end but otherwise it would have took the same bit of paint off the post.
  13. Enrique ffs, can you imagine? I'd rename Shearer's and turn it into a tapas bar.
  14. Nah, Shola to step up and bury another derby spot kick.

Sorry. It is me nearest big supermarket though.
  16. With me with my head in my hands, slumped to my knees on hearing the crowd, in my Grandma's front room, Justin Lockwood's commentary of Kevin Kyle's injury time "equaliser" when we won 1-0 Solano (p) - "The ball's in the net, the sunderland fans all around me are celebrating but the flag is up! They think they've scored! You haven't! SIT DOWN!"
  17. He better hope he's not told to target Tiote cos there's only one winner there.
  18. Lee Ryder makes Alan Oliver look competent.
