  5. Top notch today and thoroughly deserved his goal.

    Kinnear Out

Fair play to him today, picked the right team and it would have been easy to kneejerk and make daft changes for the sake of it in the second half but he kept it the same and it worked a charm. Anyone care to hazard a guess at the last time we went three consecutive games without conceding on the road?
  7. Yet another week where the big four have all failed to win. This season's been bizarre.
  8. And my point is, what changed in the way we played when he went off? Why didn't Portsmouth think, "Right, Martins has gone, we can now push up further and press them more"? Nowt because he'd already killed them off and our confidence was sky high as opposed to last week when we sat on our own six yard line shitting ourselves and knocking high balls straight back to Stoke. I think the difference between the situations is fairly obvious and I can't believe it's even open to debate.
  9. Totally bizarre that you can claim today to be an example of your point Nut when in fact it was the complete backing up of everything we've been saying. At 1-0, Pompey had us under the cosh a little bit, had a few canny chances and Martins was our only outlet again. All our players were pinging it to him again and again and while he was winning the ball, he wasn't making particularly good use of those situations but he was forcing Pompey to sit deeper and keeping two or three Pompey players back - especially Belhadj because of his pace, taking one of Pompey's attacking assets out of the game to boot. He was also actually getting possession which Viduka and Owen didn't do at all last week. Then he gets the ball in the box, makes some space and slices it out for a throw in - you'd say that's why he's not doing his job up front as an outlet, I say that's exactly what he is doing because against Viduka, from a long ball Pompey get the ball back immediately and start another attack. Martins gave them possession in the form of a throw but enabled us to pack that area, won the ball back from the throw in and the man himself kills the game off. Teams are absolutely terrified of him (especially today after he nearly uprooted the post) and psychologically, when you're holding onto a lead, that is a massive bonus.
  10. His confidence visibly rose after nearly scoring. Thought he was superb in the second half. We know he can do that which is what makes some of this season's showings so frustrating.
  11. i dont think he is, Riise was awfull in the last few seasons for Liverpool, people seem to rate Riise off the back of the wonder goals he scored years ago Aye, the Morten Gamst Pedersen effect.
  12. Given, Beye, Colo, Bassong, Enrique, Jonas, Butt, Guthrie, Charlie, Oba, Owen. Harper, Geremi, Cacapa, Shola, Taylor, Vids, D*ff.
  13. Is that Arsenal who currently lie beneath another club with a new owner, one who have shown actual ambition and are looking good for a Champions League spot? Lerner wants Villa to be the best, Ashley wants us to be Fulham. As NJS says, if we've no interest in competing we might as well go home. NJS and many others, quite likely including yourself, thought we'd be having a fantastic season if Keegan hadnt left/walked. How does that tie in with what you have just posted? The position the club would have been in under Keegan WAS Ashley's plan. His failure was not being able to execute that plan. Nevermind though eh, Hall, Shepherd, Dalglish, Gullit, Roeder, Souness, Allardyce and Kinnear, all cunts the lot of them. A fantastic season? No. Better than a relegation dogfight? Yes. Out of interest, how many more points do you think we would have if Keegan had stayed? What's the point in speculating? More. Tells you whether he had a reasonably good plan in place back in January 2008, contrary to your supposition that he 'wants' us to be like fulham. Alright then I think we could reasonably have been looking at the top six because of how poor a Premiership it is this year. Ashley believed the squad was just as strong without its inspirational manager though which is why we're in the relegation zone. True, but Keegan was part of his plan which shows he did have some ambition for the club when he set out. Its all gone to shit now but you cant use today's situation to characterise his ambition in January. I'd say his 'ambition' was to use Keegan's way of getting more out of players than seems possible in order that he wouldn't have to invest in the squad. It's even more of a kick in the teeth seeing the state of the Premiership this year, I think Villa and Hull are the only teams who have improved, everyone else, including the big guns, has lurched backwards. With KK and some real quality where we needed it, we could have taken great advantage of that, possibly even looking at a 2001-02 scenario. Sickener.

  18. The man was dismissed as Luton and Nottingham Forest boss for a reason.
  19. The man is a thoroughly despicable cunt and I wish nothing but ill on him for what he's done to my football club.
  20. Problem is that I can't see where that win will come from.
  21. Dawson in for King. Howay Man Utd, let's have a fucking hatful.
