    Benjamin Corgnet

Not seen him play much, but he's Dijons top scorer this season. Got 7 in 18 in the league. Not a Tiote replacement then, grand.

Forgive my ignorance, but can anyone give us an idea what this lad is like? ... and why the ex mackum prick is not accepting our blockbuster offer?

    Loan deals

You what? 7 or so loan deals under Hughton and Pardew suggests that the club are more than willing to use the loan system when necessary.
  4. Maybe not more than happy, but somewhat happier than losing a good player halfway through a season to be fair to him.
  5. See, it's photostream titles like that that make me love the club just a little more.
  6. I do have some sympathy but it's fair to say, players come, players go, if Tiote wants out and the team stays strong and the price aint low, it doesn't really matter. To me. To me. Bohemian Rhapsody Why did you fucking remove it you junky Sorry.
  7. FYP 3:47 gets me every time. Fucks sake man, he was our manager Without being a morbid/evil sod, thank fuck he had 'health problems' and had to go early. Didn't he claim to have a 2 year contract waiting to be signed? If his health hadn't failed, I'm almost certain we wouldn't have gone down that year. Depends on your view of our relegation as to whether that was a good thing or not.
  8. Simpson is thought to have agreed a four-and-a-half year deal, but there is a “discrepancy” in the personal terms over how his salary will be paid – hence the reason for the reluctance to sign the contract offered by United. 9. Seems strange that so many are apparently unfussed by this as for me it would be difficult to improve on him both as a player and a character, especially as a quality rotation/backup option. Had a rough start to the season but has for the most part been terrific and in this case don't see much need to for more upheaval and changes to a small squad that seem to enjoy working with each other. Surprised that they couldn't work something out as both sides seemed positive about the new contract.
  10. It's a set of football club chrimbo cards which by definition are mainly going to be given as a fun thing to young kids. Just how classily somber and stylish do you expect them to be? "Pardew in a pear tree". Arf.
  11. Who Davies? Alan, he played for us in the mid eighties and took his own life aged 30. Yes, sorry SG and Kanji86. Alan Davies. Had a spell with us before transferring to Swansea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Davies_(footballer)
  12. On the pitch we've done better out of it so far, without doubt. But as I said before, until the massive fee we received is directly invested in the playing squad (and no, I don't believe it has been) then it's completely and utterly irrelevant to me. Taking away the sums involved, Chelsea got Torres, Liverpool got Carroll. We got Ba. As you say, on the pitch we have ended up with the more productive striker. Now bring the money back in. On those strikers, Chelsea spent £50m, Liverpool spent £30m, we spent £5m. Again, we have ended up with currently not only the more productive striker but also by far and away the most cost effective. Now bring in the additional money brought into each club, Chelsea, zero, Liverpool £15m, and Newcastle £35m. Well, that looks great too. The irrelevant bit here though is actually where that money ends up seeing as Ashley can always put more in, or of course start to take money out of the club any time he chooses. Whether that money gets spent on other players as you are demanding, is earmarked for wages or running costs, pays off a chunk of our debts, or simply stops the club as an entity racking up further debt to Ashley, it doesn't matter. As long as we are better off, that is all that matters. And again, as it stands, that appears to be the case. We'd be a fuckload better off with a first team left back on the books right now. Or reasonable centre back cover. Or someone to score goals with Ba, like Pardew wanted. It's not about spending every penny we have (or don't have) on inflated transfer fees, it's about being the best we can be. I don't believe that is the case in this instance. As it stands, post Carroll, I think we are a better squad (just) and have invested money beyond the first team as well pretty significantly. We'll just have to wait and see now where the rest of it has gone. I do agree though, we needed more players and better players (as we always have, and always will of course ), and did feel the Carroll money should have seen us make a greater attempt to get them.
  13. I know their careers at the club and beyond were like chalk and cheese which makes Speeds seem all the more shocking a tragedy, but I'm surprised I haven't seen any mention of Davies in the papers or anywhere. Considering the Swansea game in particular is the focus of our tributes, does anyone else feel a there should maybe also be a some kind of a nod to him as well?

  15. Fatuous. Because of a tragedy that does not mean people cease to care about other issues which matter to them. Well said.

    Graham Carr

Is that right? Out of our team of 20 odd scouts under Carr, none have been looking at a centre half? Not one? I'm absolutely livid about this!
