Feck me, Pardew can be a complete dickhead at times. I'm sure he was deadly serious when he said that like.

Don't know if Pardew really said this, or it's the Star putting a spin on his Mail quotes, but I'd fkn love him even more if he did. AL DRINK TO HATEM BEN ARFA! NEWCASTLE boss Alan Pardew has labelled comeback kid Hatem Ben Arfa his “Heineken player” – because he scales heights others can’t reach. “He can reach heights that other players can’t reach – the Heineken player if you like.” http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/211903/Al-drink-to-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-/?
  3. This as well. Surely sales in the North East are affected by people who 'boycott' Sports Direct? For every person who boycotts Sports Direct.... there are 2 mackems.
  4. Bad craic that if your not blocking anyone. Might be a chance they'll calm down again after the obligatory early season clampdown.
  5. I think he's very middle of the road with it. Sometimes he seems to do it, other times will persevere with a player. He's not spectacularly stubborn, nor spectacularly ruthless. Again, on past form, Pardew is pretty good at switching out senior players like Shola (just last week), Smith, Lovenkrands, Harper etc while publicly backing them. I have no doubt that if Santon is fit and looking good in training, Raylor will be out on his arse, whatever praise he rightly gets at present. But that's the point, Pardew can't yet talk to the lad without a translator, has barely seen him in the flesh, and has only witnessed a few days training before his knee knack and 70mins of a reserve match (whey actually it was only Carver that attended that one). Based on that, it's not difficult to understand Pardews honesty in saying that Santon would not necessarily have been an automatic starter in the team, and a back 4 that despite Raylors limitations is functioning pretty well, had it not been for his injury.
  6. More lies from Ashley. They're making moves into Europe, not the Far East. I wonder what the only other group interested, the Malaysians, wanted us for? Probably using the club to increase the win percentages of their betting syndicate knowing our luck.
  7. Went to a place just off Park Lane a couple of years back where the Landlord was supposed to be from Newcastle and they showed as many games as they could, pretty decent turn out as well. I'm sure it wasn't the Cock and Bull though, was stuck on a corner of some back street. EDIT: Balls, found it. It was the Barley Mow on Dukes street. Must have been more that a couple of years ago, changed into a bog standard pub in 2007 apparently.

I'd bring him on as a sub. Say give him the last half an hour. Will you sub him off again when extra time kicks in? POW And thats why he must start So start him and sub him off at half time = 45min Bring him on for the last 30min and extra time = 60min Not much difference tbh. It's not about times on the pitch, the difference if he starts is that if the game is not right for him or he unexpectedly starts to tire you can then easily take him off. If you bring him on for the last half hour or so then there is a considerable chance that he'll be forced to play extra time despite flagging, which I isn't something I'd like to risk.

  11. Not sure we needed to bother. Hardly takes much to find out the price of a ticket, pie or program. That said it still seems like a bit of a half arsed/misleading survey. You can spend more than £37 on a ticket at ours for a start, but yeah, our average ticket is pretty reasonable, especially compared to London clubs (which is why a club like Spurs can apparently make more than us on a matchday despite their lower attendances).

Not even sure that they have all the prices correct.
  13. He's an odd one. I like the look of him, his pace, and some of the stuff he does is great, but then he loses the ball and has that blank lost look on his face. Glad that we have him though, just hope to see the wingers shifted around somehow to accomodate Marveaux more in the next few games.
  14. Think of it as a player swap and console yourself with the fact that they got Rainforrest and his dead baby routine and you got happy clappy me. The Simpson photoshop?
  15. I'm not holding my breath.
  16. Good player, but happy to see that spunking £10m on him isn't quite working out so far. Long may it continue.
  17. Not sure it's that easy, my view of being balanced may be a little different from your view of a balanced outlook sometimes. ...but yes, CT is somewhat/very happy clappy I grant you.
  18. There are a good deal of positives (on the pitch where it matters) to embrace at the moment tbf.
  19. No need to go overboard. Seems a pretty standard, 'we're doing well so no player is just going to walk into the team' spiel. On past form, Pardew is pretty good at switching out senior players like Shola, Smith etc while publicly backing them.
  20. I don't like it.... but if they can persuade me it can make us more competitive on the pitch....
  21. When someone offered me a bet that Carroll wouldn't score 10 goals this season, I couldn't have shaken his hand on it any faster. Getting a bit worried now.
