  1. Souness. Reasons: Already above. Probably the worst Liverpool manager in the last 30 years as well, maybe longer than that.
  2. I thought we all knew he wasn't playing again this season? Anyway, lets hope its a return to form and fitness next for him as this year has been a total disaster as Harper has been far the better keeper. Happy for him, gutted for Shay, lets hope both are focused for a keeper fight next season, if not we really need to look at offloading Shay, horrible thought but there is no point having him like this when in reality we should just about to see the best of him. Maybe this is the bad spell before the peak, lets hope so.
  3. I wanted to keep that Helder from Porto, anyone remember him? Thought he was a canny player, nowt special but worth keeping on the books.
  4. Horrible dirty injury prone bastard. Got a Gary Speed type head on him though, but i'm not his biggest fan. Rather get Arteta who's getting some flak but is easily a better player for me. We could do with a Cahill, just not Cahill.
  5. We wouldn't pay him £40kpw and rightly so. He got greedy, but it's not done him any harm i suppose. Dread to think what Pompy paid for him on a free
  6. Reminder to self: Jose Enrique 1st goalscorer 2-0
  7. "I hate their club, the people, their city and everything they stand for. Everything thats wrong with modern England IMO." Stunningly stupid imo. I barely give them the time of day (well, twice a year if they can stay in the league) Some good fans amongst them though, but it gets less each year i'm afraid.
  8. http://www.readytogo.net/archives/002227.html April 14, 2008 Sunderland fan to collect in memory of Newcastle fan at the derby game A Sunderland supporter will hold a collection amongst fellow mackems in memory of a Newcastle-supporting friend, at Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby game. 18 year old Ryan Robson of Seaburn has fought cancer twice, and met Newcastle supporter Jordan Thompson when they were both receiving treatment at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. The pair became friends and got involved in fund-raising activities for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Ryan was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukaemia when he was six and had two years of treatment. But after six years in remission the cancer returned. After two more years of treatment he is again in remission and has been told the leukaemia is unlikely to return. Jordan, from West Denton, underwent three months of intensive chemotherapy and went into remission. But in April last year, he suffered a relapse and needed chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. He underwent the transplant, but after picking up an infection died in intensive care last September. He was 15. Now Ryan hopes that supporters will put rivalries aside and contribute to the Jordan David Thompson Memorial Fund for the Teenage Cancer Trust North East. Donations will go to the cancer treatment unit at the RVI where both Jordan and Ryan were treated. Ryan said, "We became really good friends. We used to take the mick out of each other because of the football. I was devastated when Jordan died. He was a good lad and would do anything to help anyone. "All the money donated goes to a good cause. I would urge people to dig deep in their pockets." To contribute to the Jordan David Thompson Memorial Fund or find out more: Phone 0753 4284608 email [email protected] write to 8 Gofton Walk, West Denton, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE5 2PN. Donations to the fund can be made to the fund via the Nationwide branch in New Bridge Street, Newcastle.
  9. Keegan: Here’s our team, Roy Apr 14 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle Kevin Keegan KEVIN KEEGAN has taken the derby bull by the horns by revealing that he is almost certain to send out an unchanged side against Sunderland at St James’ Park on Sunday lunch-time. And while it is hardly a surprise, the Newcastle United boss has clearly stolen a march on his opposite number Roy Keane who has plenty to think about after Saturday’s home defeat by Manchester City. Keegan has virtually relied on the same players since the revival he inspired began in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrews on March 17. He was forced to make one change against Reading nine days ago when Steven Taylor went down with food poisoning and the England Under-21 skipper was forced to pull out just before the kick-off. And as well as his replacement David Edgar did against Reading, it was really no surprise when Taylor was recalled against Portsmouth in Saturday’s goalless draw at Fratton Park. Keegan was rewarded when Taylor put Pompey striker Kanu in his back pocket as United kept their third clean sheet in four games as his merry men extended their unbeaten run to five matches. It’s 11 points out of 15 as Keegan has guided United to a five-match unbeaten Premier League run to kill off any talk of relegation. And no wonder looking ahead to Sunday’s derby Keegan says: " We’ll leave it alone, and let the other players wait for the opportunity. "Let’s see when they get that, whether they can really take it. "We’re going forward. We’re a work in progress, and hopefully we’ll learn from the things we didn’t do so well. "The 4-3-3 formation is still working, and still creating. We’re still causing other teams problems, and I think that will continue to be the case as long as every player puts in a shift. "That’s what is happening at the moment, and it’s very hard to change it when these 11 players are so determined to win games, and do things right for the club." United and Keegan were actually disappointed at only picking up a point against Portsmouth. But Keegan did feel that it was a game that United would probably have lost earlier in the year. He added: "I just felt we edged it, even though they had a couple of chances. "We had a lot of possession, and played some really good football at times, but we just couldn’t find that final pass, and add that finishing touch to some good play. "Two months ago, we’d have lost this game."
  10. Agree - he's too important to them to lose on the cheap. Speaking of Citeh, wheres Dr Spectrum these days? Cant Dunne buy his contract out? He can but only if he moves overseas I think. Which raises this point: Depends on Tacky Sinatra really. If he's going to sack SGE then things become a little unstable again at Citeh, i think Dunne might decide his own fate if that happens. Also if a Euro club comes in and all they are going to get is £1.5m then i cannot see them refusing to make more money by allowing him to talk to prem clubs.
  11. So you want to sign a keeper about 5 years older? Doesn't really any sense to me. As for keepers, Harper is impressing, i think he's about to peak. Maybe we should think about moving Given on and replacing him with an up and coming talent, but one in their mid 20's rather than early.

  13. Jesus H Christ, if we spend £30m on those 3 i'll have a stroke. Thank fook you're not Keegan,... you're not Keegan are you??! Downing is underrated, quick as fook and with a definate goal threat. would need 12 mil to get him Dunne has been an absolute rock for City Crouch should be a priority this summer Dunne can buy out his contract in the summer, £1.5m, and can leave the Country. Crouch is in his last year, but isn't 28 so it doesn't apply to him, the fee's being talked about are £6m Downing is quite under rated by us since he's a smog, i'd take him as a replacement for Zoggy, not as good imo, but has much more end product than Zoggy, i mean fuking truck loads more. £12m fee to us sounds about right. I reckon though £4m for Dunne & £6-7m for Crouch would just about do it. Getting Lennon in for £4m and thats some bargain hunting. PS: I'd rather pay £4-8m for Lennon than £14-18m for Bentley.
  14. That's outstanding. Not bad, I can remember JJ Okocha having about 150 shots for one goal a couple of years ago, if I'm right! Sounds like Nicky Butt Are you sure you are not confusing with Butt's pass rate mate?

    Alan Smith

He must feel a bit shit Smith after everything that's happened. Total return of form and desire and its without him. You know out of our newer signings, and a few of our old it would mean more to him than others if he was to be there. Feel a bit sorry for him, but not as sorry as i do for me when he's on the pitch. It would be nice for him to get a goal at least before his imminent departure in the summer, even if it just helps us move him on. People still rate the lad, kind of player managers think they can rely on when in trouble, so someone out there will be willing to take him cut price, only question left is: just how big a cut?

    Sunday Gossip

Riise would be a huge mistake. Out of all the players we have been linked with, this is the 'Alan Smith' of transfers that strikes fear in to me everytime i hear his name. I reckon Enrique is a better defender already.
  17. Gilberto? Knackered & finished at this level imo. Still playing regularly for Brazil. He was okay last season iirc & haven't seen enough of him this season to say he is finished. His legs have gone pretty quickly in the last year or so. He needs to get to Spain and see out his final years there, i'm certain he's still having good games for Brazil, he had and still has an immense talent, just no legs to implement it in this league anymore. Arsenal could really do with the Gilberto of even just a year ago.
  18. Gilberto? Knackered & finished at this level imo.
  19. Clichy is the last of their worries IMO, very good player. He's fuking lucky. Rescued constantly by two excellent CB's next to him. He's nowhere near as good as Sagna for me. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to have Clichy here, but for a side trying to win titles i think he comes up a bit short. Not a player who really gets punished for his mistakes, but invites pressure on himself far too often. He's only a kid though, no doubt it will iron out within the next few years, but that is typical of Arsenal right now, plenty of youth in touching distance of being fully reliable. I'd agree with this assessment of Clichy. He invites pressure onto himself and seems to fall asleep at random times during a game. But, as you say, he's still very young and has a lot of potential. Gallas has been quite disappointing lately as well. I know he's quality and all but he's not 'stepping up' in the way that you'd expect a central defender and a captain to. A new CB, GK, striker and just hope for better luck next year with injuries is probably the best Arsene can do. They're certainly up there in their ability to create chances and seem destined to win the title up until Clichy's gaffe against Birmingham. Has decent pace to pull himself out of a few stickies he creates himself, but no doubt a solid talent in a few years. Gallas' mind really has wondered, an immense player with great leadership abilities but is suffering bad form for some bizarre reason. Quite possibly a personal fallout (my opinion of course) with someone in the camp, maybe something's been said which had taken his mind off the game. Could also be personal, but i think Wenger is right to stick with him, no point chopping and changing, for one it would ruin Gallas and he'd be so insulted he'd walk, no doubt about it. Their mid for me is puzzling, quite a lot of similar players and Wenger's pissing about on the right has hampered them for me. I'd just blood Walcott, he's becoming dangerous, well its pretty obvious he is after the 'Pool game. You stole that from my head while I was typing, didn't you? I'm still shaking by a few other things i saw in there!
  20. New keeper wouldn't go a miss either.
  21. Exact opposite to Arsenal in every single way. Footballing style, history and types of players, even their managers. Fans are both cocks mind

  23. Time to start spending some big money. Its there, they can compete for any player if they wanted too, he just refuses to spend big. They need a world class ready made striker, and for me a replacement for Ashley Cole. Glichy seems to get caught out quite a lot.
