  1. Also a foreign coach who underrates the strength of the Premiership. From what i saw of the game, Liverpool were lucky not to lose. To be fair, Ferguson has done the same on certain occasions. Certain occasions being the right. Rafa does it as the most incredible times. Portsmouth at home are no pushovers, many teams bigger than them (pompy) will be disappointed coming away from that fixture, not the time to rotate the squad. I thought he'd realised this from the start of this season, strong team every game, but as soon as he starts messing about, an un needed draw, and it wasn't a case of them being unlucky, which has happened a lot to Fergie over the years, Liverpool were second best from what i saw, although i only caught about 55mins of the match.

  3. Liverpool's team is too foreign, games like Pompy pass them by as the big names cant rise for the smaller occasions, and until they do, they'll never be title winners. A much improved Liverpool on paper from last season, and for once a good start in terms of points on the board, but they've got a long way to go before people can say they've got a better team or squad than Manu, to say so is just laughable.

    Women's World Cup

Don't know if it was this match or the Argie match on replay but the woman commentator said if you've got a good keeper you've got a great chance of winning. Apparently Ireland's keeper is class, and the Germans could only beat them 1-0.

Talking about women and football: Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole has told England football fans to stop booing their players. Cole, who is married to England and Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole, has argued that the national supporters need to behave more like Liverpool crowds to help boost the players' confidence. The singer told The Sun: "We need to get behind the boys more. We should be like the Liverpool fans. Their theory is the worse you are, the louder you shout. It makes a real difference." Comparing the sporting events to her own musical career, the popstar commented: "I was saying to the girls, can you imagine if every time we went on stage we got shouted at by the crowd? It would be awful."

I hope its a fantastic and successful tournament for all involved. I hear the Germans are the ones to beat, or were top dogs not so long ago. Lets hope England do well, and womans football becomes stronger, because no matter how good or bad they are, its still better than watching some 25 stone talentless fat cunts charging round a field throwing a mis shaping ball backwards.
  14. Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has confirmed weekend reports suggesting he had spoken to Freddy Shepherd recently, but insists he is not about to sell the League One side to the former Newcastle United supremo. Bates says he discussed future investment opportunities with Shepherd but is adamant that he has no plans to sell United. He told Yorkshire Radio: "This is inspired speculation because Freddy and I had lunch last week in Newcastle. "But he's not about to swoop in a 'sensational deal' for Leeds and I'm not about to sell it either. "Inevitably the subject of football came up, and he's still a bit sore about what happened at Newcastle. He'd like to get back in and I would like an investor, so the two fit in. "Freddy is a wise old man - although he's younger than me - he's experienced and he would be an ideal partner, but it's gossip. I'm here for the long haul."
  15. I fuking hate the Daily Mail. Listen to this utter fuking tripe: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=480927&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow Magpie Taylor eyes options with White Hart Lane or Anfield his likely destinations Tottenham are one of the Premier League clubs carefully monitoring contract negotiations between Newcastle United and promising defender Stephen Taylor. The England Under-21 centre-half has rejected the offer of a new five-year deal and Liverpool have already been linked with a move to take him to Anfield. But the Guardian reports that Spurs have also been following Taylor and are ready to make their own offer if they believe he is available. Taylor is young, English and a class act, ticking all the boxes required to be filled by most of Spurs' signings. And with doubts refusing to die down about the long term health of Ledley King, he would be a perfect addition to a defensive unit which currently features exciting youngsters Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul. Then this just to add to the sickening tripe: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=480943&in_page_id=1779 Levy is 'ready to sell Tottenham Hotspur for £250m' Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to sell up for £250 million. Reports suggest Levy is hoping to attract a foreign investor and his wish to sell is believed to be one of the main reasons he has been trying to replace Martin Jol as manager. Insiders say he feels the club would be a more attractive proposition with a high-profile coach in charge such as Sevilla's Juande Ramos, who he interviewed in Spain last month. During the summer, Levy agreed to buy former owner Sir Alan Sugar's 12 per cent stake for £25million. Levy's ENIC International paid Sugar's holding company, Amshold, 113.6p a share to take his stake in Tottenham from 54 per cent to 66 per cent. That deal valued the club at £210million - slightly less than the amount paid by American businessmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jnr to buy Liverpool, but Levy believes a London giant like Spurs is worth substantially more.
  16. what if responded that with "Typical Brit!!!" not nice is it? Oh just shut up you mong, don't make something out of nothing.
  17. I win £250 if he does.
  18. completely agree. Lets hope penny pinching ways doesn't lose the best player we've brought through for a while. We never heard Steve Watson, Lee Clark, Robbie Elliott etc having contract problems like this. BTW, I fully understand the point made by Steve Taylors dad, and I agree with him. If Newcastle United want to match the Liverpools of this world, they have to behave like them with things like this. Merlin has made a good point, it depends how much Allardyce rates him. I can't see how Allarydce wouldn't rate him as being worth one of the biggest contracts at the club. So if Taylor goes, I for one would like to know why, and if it is because Sam doesn't rate him, then I wouldn't agree but would accept his decision as he is the manager and so must be allowed to make his own judgements. For me the pros far outweight the cons. For one Taylor has every right to demand more, given that he's seen wasters get paid fortunes for doing nowt, that's not his problem that's the culture in which the club allowed to develop, he's just tapping into and lets be honest, Geordie or no Geordie, he wants well paid for what he does, we all would and to say otherwise would go against human nature. Secondly, the club have to weigh up his real value. He cost the club nowt and can effectively save us tens of millions should he stay here for his career duration. I doubt he's wanting to be the highest paid player at the club, he will however want to be put on parity with the likes of N'Zogbia or newcomers like Beye and again, he has every right. If I were the club I'd pay him what he wants, but I'd go one step further, I'd say right: We think you have lots of talent, and we value you. But you aren't worth what we're paying you at the moment. We can bring in another Cacapa on a free and pay him what you're going to get and he'll give us fantastic performances. But we're long term thinkers here and want you to be the bedrock of that defence for years to come, our John Terry if you like. We will pay you what you want now, but unless you improve drastically, you won't be getting a new contract here. So here is the deal. We will review your contract every 18 months and based on Appearances Goals Clean sheets England call ups Good discipline on and off the pitch European qualification Trophies We'll keep upgrading during the length of your contract. See what he says. That way you get him to commit, but you also promise to look after him for years to come. And I'd do that with all long term contracts to be honest. I couldn't agree more with everything you say there. I only wish this is how we negotiate contracts in the future.

None of these players are without faults, they just happen to have less than Emre does. Dyer has less faults than Emre? Unfortunately true. Its why a club paid £7m for him, while Emre we'd be lucky to receive the £3.8m we paid for him.

They all played reasonably well when required, one of them made us money, more than can be said of Emre. I don't think i said that, although i don't really remember yesterday so... But I was becoming very bored of the dealings, it took nearly a month to agree a fee and i was speculating as to why we were not prepared to match their asking price. As for wishing for the deal to fall though, again very bored and i was hoping we'd go elsewhere as i didn't want to be left high and dry as the window ticked on, we spent a lot of time focused on one player and nothing else was going through, i was getting nervous. Add to that a lot of my comment in the Rozenhal thread were just tongue in cheek again through sheer boredom of the developments.

Look i know you've got a hard on for creative talent, heightened because of our transfer activities in the summer and SA style of play, but please try and remember correctly what Emre was and has done as a player instead of romantically fantasizing on the past.

Care to justify that nonsense? What in his time here has he done apart from the Sunderland match? He's one of our highest paid players, and we get nothing out of him for months on end. Permanently injured, was the same at Inter, and when he's on the field he's inconsistent, slow, weak, one dimensional and dirty. You've given your opinion, but not on the bit in bold which I asked about. Well i've proven he's done nothing for the club, its not my opinion, its fact. He and his Country think he's the Turkish David Beckham, which quite frankly is an insult to anyone who knows anything about football. In so far as he is their best midfielder, yes. And he probably doesnt think he is David Beckham, just more shite to prove you flawed argument. If you personally don't like him as a player, fair enough, but calling him a waster and accusing him of thinking he is better than he is is just bollocks. Who realistically has done anything for this club since Emre has been here? Answers on a (very small) postcard. Shay Given Steve Harper Steven Taylor Nobby Solano James Milner N'Zogbia Dyer (yes even him) Nicky Butt Scott Parker Martins Sibierski

Everyone is expecting Allardyce to get more out of the players we have at the club, so the same must be said about Emre, if Allardyce can bring out the actual ability he has (because technically he is probably our best player) regularly, then he would be one of the first on the team sheet in my opinion. If he is going to be in and out with injuries again this year then I can understand him being sold. I wouldnt want him to go though. He's painfully slow. People knock Milner for his pace, well i'd bet my house he'd out run Emre all day long. Emre will always be injured, its all his body knows what to do. Emre at his best and fully fit would be an asset to the club, only that will never happen. Another over paid, over hyped foreigner whose failed at the club. I dont see where you're getting this painfuly slow thing from, I must be missing something. I would like to see him suceed here, and he still can, Im definitely not gonna give up on him whilst he plays for us. Id say realistically though he's got until Jan to prove himself You probably can't remember how slow he actually is as its been so long since you've seen him kick and chase a ball.
