  1. By the time you've finished arguing about this he'll of earned the same again, and that again is before he's even kicked a ball in anger.

He was crap at the start of the season, but by the end picked up form but he'd already made up his mind that he wanted to leave.
  5. Finished? Did I say that or did you make it up? I suspect you wont answer that question. I have stated that he isnt any better than average. Its nice that people want to see him do well. He just doesnt have the ability or the pace to do so. If we are looking at players like Milner to help us progress then we will be waiting a long time. Keep him as a squad player but he wouldnt get in the Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham or Arsenal first choice sides. Thats where we should be aiming - top 5. At that level he is lacking. I think you are wrong. Liverpool - Totally, nothing down the left, Pennant down the right, he'd walk into the team. Chelsea - No chance Man Utd - Fletcher gets into the team, Milner can, 1st lot, na, not after their new signings. Tottenham - Better than all their mids apart from Lennon. Arsenal - Absolutely. Inconstant the lot of them, Milner would bring a bit of stability, again with the right players around him Milner could easily become a creator.
  6. The FA cup final went flat, but i think that was more to do with the exit of both teams from the CL tbh. It just took the edge of a possible treble for both teams, if they were both in the CL final i reckon the game would of been bigger than what it was, and the game itself more explosive.

    New defenders?

About the only one which isn't, and that 'link' might as well come from ohmelads tbh.
  8. Well there's been fuk all in the press this summer about him moving away, not even a peep from Arsenal. Hopefully that was his poorest season behind him, and the new ear here can sweep him back to the top of his game.

    New defenders?

Anyone else worried that were getting linked to all these French league defenders? France isn't the best league in the world, in fact its poor apart from Lyon, and the EPL is a very fast league to deal with. Not only that, some of these names and types of players, including the low fee's remind me of the Dumas, Goma, Domi, Guivarch (Striker i know) days, all good players in their comfort zone but brought here couldn't cut it. Last thing we need is to have shipped out heartless morons, for talentless morons. Also is SA buying in Bolton mode, or are these players really good enough for the pressure surrounding a NUFC defense? As its simply the most scrutinised defenses in the world, by media and its fans alike.
  10. He's hardly slow though is he? Not saying he's the paciest player around, far from it... but he's not slow. Hopefully Sam etc will help get a bit more pace out of him. think this whole debate mirrors what is a ahead for a lot of out existing players next season milner was all effort last season, he's got skill and tricks but when he does beat a man his delivery is often not good enough, it's almost like he's got his head up in order to beat the man then when he beats him puts his head in the sand and blindly crosses it anyway what i'm getting at it that milner, like others, will now be operating with a better manager and presumably coaching/fitness/backroom staff therefore i'd expect improvement in all areas from him except perhaps effort, where he was never found wanting there's a lot of understandable talk about buying players right now but there's a little too much about replacing players we already have who SHOULD improve next season (running charlie, martins for example) - milner is 21 or whatever and one of the brightest talents knocking about for his age, i think we should be harnessing it not replacing it For someone whose delivery is often not good enough his stats are bloody good over the last 2 seasons, especially when you consider half the time he has been lucky to have ONE of his one players to aim at. The amount of times last season he has swung in a good ball and Martins is hanging on the edge of the box and no other fucker has thought to attack the cross is crazy! aye fair comment, a lot of the time the quality of his ball is good but the box is empty...but that's what i mean about blindly hitting crosses - the lads got quality but he needs to have a look at what he's aiming for, especially as you say when martins is looking for a cutback so he can belt it fat viduka should help him there, plus goal hanging wee mickey ain't too bad at finding space for a header when his legs work!! Owen's actually quite deceiving in the air, Martin has a great leap and a solid head, just awful timing and positional sense to attack them properly. Sibi was the man to aim for, but if you are looking for a slow player to have a pop at (not you personally) this would be the man, and the reason Milner couldn't find anyone with his crosses. Milner on plenty of occasions had to even wait for Martins to catch up nevermind Sibi the turtle, Milners brain works quicker, therefore he steals a yard on people before even touching the ball imo, and i saw plenty of times last season he was even waiting to cross to Martins who is one of our fastest players.

Never heard out about him, but £6m is a lot of money on a right back. Glad to see money being well spent on the area if true, although if Arsenal want him, i think he'd be going there, Wenger factor etc... Although I know nothing about the player it would be fucking beautiful to actually look to vastly improve the full back position than sign cheap players to plug a gap! It also means SA has highlighted the LB position as a weak area as well, simply as you wouldn't go and spend £6m on a RB (Plus having Carr & Nobby as backup) and have Babayaro the only LB for next season. Hopefully he has a buyer for Carr £5m+ LB & RB, plus two new central defenders, we'd have a good foundation to build on. Curtis Davies £6m anyone? Sagna--Davies--Taylor--Baines

Must be taking pens, either that or the whole of Italian football are letting him have a wonder season as he made sure that France's only possibility to win the World Cup went walking down the tunnel after spectacularly headbutting him!
  16. Word for word, in total agreement. See the bits in bold: So untrue its barely worth commenting on Fiction It needs to. Fuck me. You honestly don't think a 21 year old can become more productive? Not worth discussing things with you, you seem to have a problem with opinions anyway. I wasn't even going to bother mate, obviously highly influenced by other peoples warped opinions and can't bare to face forming one of his own.
  17. Milner has far more pace than Solano ever had, probably beats Beckham as well. He doesn't need to run full pelt at people as he goes past most defenders with ease. His crossing improved last season, and with something to aim at this season he'll only become more productive. His passing is fine, and he even started to take shots at goal, which weren't too bad IIRC. He's young, fit and willing to play and learn, we don't have too many of those players in the squad, in fact Football as a whole are missing a few James Milners.
  18. "Roeder will definately be here at the start of next season" or just the opinions as fact? "FAMV will score loads of goals for NUFC" type thing? I was thinking more "Baines will be here by July 1st", "Mancini has been looking at houses in Newcastle", "Hitzfeld has been looking around the training ground" type facts. MJ definitely paralleled to the Daily Mirror!

  20. Allardyce faces having to explain deals in court http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=462504&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow Tension at Newcastle as pressure mounts on new boss Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce’s past transfer dealings will come under further scrutiny on two fronts as the fall-out from the Stevens Inquiry continues to overshadow preparations for his first season at the club. There is understood to be growing unease at St James’ Park about the bad publicity surrounding the former Bolton manager, who has been handed a £3 million-a-year salary and generous transfer budget to revive the club’s fortunes. The latest developments came within 24 hours of Lord Stevens unveiling the controversial findings of his Quest team’s £1.3m probe into Premier League transfers, which made public 16 deals involving five clubs that remain under suspicion and named 15 agents and three managers worthy of more investigation. Investigations into a 17th deal are so sensitive that it has not been identified. With Graeme Souness out of football and the reasons for concern about Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp remaining unspecified beyond his alleged ownership of a bad horse, Allardyce is the figure most damaged by the revelations. Quest’s report recommended further inquiries into the apparent conflict of interest which existed when Allardyce’s son, Craig, was involved in transfers at Bolton, and it is understood solicitors for Allardyce are considering a request for their client to be re-interviewed about up to four deals, involving Julio Correa, Ali Al-Habsi, Blessing Kaku and Tal Ben Haim. And now Allardyce also faces having to explain in court how Bolton came to sign Israel international Idan Tal last year. Unlicensed Israeli agent David Abou has launched legal action against Craig Allardyce in a bid to receive half the £135,000 commission he negotiated for himself from Tal’s free transfer. It was Abou, through The Mail On Sunday, who revealed how he had acted for Ben Haim, Kaku and Tal in breach of FIFA rules forbidding unlicensed agents from being involved in transfer negotiations, and who then provided Quest and the FA with documentary evidence to support his claims. Abou said that he and Craig, then a licensed agent, received secret payments from another licensed agent, Jamie Hart, after the Ben Haim and Kaku deals in 2004 which fall within Quest’s remit. Abou also claimed that when he acted for Tal in last year’s transfer, Craig agreed to split his £135,000 commission with him. But having never received what he says is his rightful share, Abou has now launched legal action to obtain it and to recover from Bolton the $1,194.50 he spent on his credit card to buy plane tickets for himself and Tal to fly to England on March 5, 2006. Top sports lawyer Mel Goldberg, of Max Bitel, Greene, who is representing Abou, confirmed "letters before action" had been sent out to Craig Allardyce and Bolton. Goldberg said: "If we do not receive a satisfactory response, legal proceedings will be issued." Allardyce Snr, who is aware of the development, would be a key witness if the case against his son reached court. Abou, who will be in court in Tel Aviv tomorrow for the start of a separate case against Tal Ben Haim, also wants to prevent Bolton paying any further instalments of Craig Allardyce’s commission. The £135,000 corresponds to the agent’s traditional 10 per cent of Tal’s three-year, £8,500-per-week basic contract and the first instalment of £45,000 was paid in October last year. The next tranche of £45,000 is due in the coming weeks but there are signs Bolton are in no mood to do the Allardyce family any favours. Having backed Sam to the hilt while he was still at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has apparently begun the process of distancing himself from his former manager, offering to provide Quest with the results of the club’s own internal investigation into how transfers were conducted. As a member of the FA Board, Gartside has his own future to consider and his comments in the wake of the publication of Quest’s report could hardly have been more pointed. "I’m glad that we found that every person who continues to work at this club has been totally exonerated by our inquiry," he said. "I don’t believe it’s my job to talk about individuals working for other clubs." Lord Stevens’ report pulled no such punches, as Allardyce’s new employers are also painfully aware. Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd has already suffered the embarrassment of seeing one of his sons, Kenneth, named in the document, along with former manager Souness, as having provided evidence which contained inconsistencies. Just as at Bolton, four transfers involving Newcastle remain uncleared by Quest and it was hardly an auspicious week for billionaire Mike Ashley to move a decisive step closer to gaining full control of the club by taking his stake past the 75 per cent threshold for delisting the company. Sources indicate that Shepherd Snr, despite striking a deal with Ashley to stay on as chairman after selling his family’s 28 per cent holding for £37m, may not stick around much longer to support the manager he appointed. It is also understood that Allardyce would not have been the new owner’s first choice as manager and that the bad publicity about the Bolton transfers, on top of Ashley’s problems with his own company, Sports Direct, has not impressed him. If Allardyce thought his move to Newcastle would draw a line under the past and herald a glorious new chapter of his career, he was mistaken. The day after the fixture computer decreed his new team would begin next season with a match at the Reebok Stadium, the ghosts of Bolton, in the form of the Quest report, came back to haunt him in a potentially far more damaging way. And there is every sign that they will continue to do so for some time to come.

    The future

We should look at Corluka, i've heard many positive things about him although admittedly never seen him play. Is he playing in the under 21's atm?
  24. Teamtalk say Chelsea say they can let him go, although i doubt its far from the truth tbh. If we have money to spare after repairing the defense then it would certainly be a half decent move, if we didn't have Milner than aye, without doubt, but other areas need to be fixed 1st before blowing £10m on another ex Chelsea player that didn't work out.
  25. If it wasn't Sky it would of been someone else. Too many people truly love football for it not to of been exploited at some point. Don't blame Sky, blame the world we live in.
