  3. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_2684029,00.html Viduka challenged to score By Amanda Cornforth Last updated: 25th August 2007 Viduka: Goal challenge Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has set Mark Viduka the task of scoring his first goal for the Magpies against former club Middlesbrough on Sunday. The 31-year-old Australian will make a rapid return to The Riverside after he rejected the offer of a new contract in the summer, before joining North East rivals Newcastle. Viduka, who scored 19 goals for Boro last season, could further aggravate the Middlesbrough fans if he opens his Newcastle account and Allardyce is urging the striker to not just score but to bag the all-important winner. Winner "If you want to get off the mark for your new club, there could not be a better place to do it than going to your old club," Allardyce said. "On many occasions, it seems to happen that way, so I certainly hope that's the case on Sunday. "But the goal must be a winning goal, it must not be a goal that means nothing. It must mean a lot to not just him, but to us. "It must get us something out of the game." Break Viduka has started both Premier League matches for Newcastle so far this term but has been replaced by Shola Ameobi on each occasion, after a lack of a break this summer. He had a short holiday before joining up with the Australia squad ahead of their Asian Cup campaign and had only a week or so of respite, before beginning preparations for the new season with Newcastle. Allardyce is aware of Viduka's situation and is hoping that he will ask national coach Graham Arnold to be excused from next month's friendly clash with Argentina in Melbourne, in order to gain some valuable rest. "There is an international window coming up and I think he should take the opportunity to ask his coach if he can take a break, because it would be much more beneficial to us and much more beneficial to Australia in the long run," Allardyce said.

  12. Weren't Everton going to build their new Stadium on Kings Dock? What happened to that site?
  13. Imaging what we could all do with £15m? What a total fuking waste. Disgusting, not only should someone be shot, someone should be taken to court for incompetence, then shot.

    Glen Johnson

I'd take him over Carr. Much better footballer, fitter, younger, much better going forward but like Carr isn't too strong at defending, but at least he has an excuse, he's young. Theres a really good footballer somewhere in Glen Johnson, it almost came out in his loan spell at Portsmouth, i think buying him is a gamble, but wouldn't mind taking him on loan as he clearly isn't needed at Chelsea, and SA could potentially get the best out of him, but even at his worst, its better than Carr right now. A loan deal is sound logic here for all concerned.

  17. Come on lads, off to the Ajax fourms we go.. What's pretty certin is that Luque was (and will still be) one of the biggest talking points we ever have/had in this club, he's there alongside Laurent Robert While Robert was a lazy twat at times I still had some regret when he left for all the great moments he produced. The only regret I have with Luque is that we actually signed him in the first place. Approx £15m for a talking point! NUFC down to the T.
