  1. If anything our fitness levels went up when GR came in, i think we need to look further back to find where it all went tits up, just GR didn't fix it.
  2. Well at his age you can't. Not knowing his career but he's obviously had a slowish start so he's not being paid a great deal, now he gets the chance to secure his life, hopefully he's going to repay us with some special performances. Fingers crossed.
  3. I ear marked Geremi for the RB role, but it looks like he's seen in the centre, which he's also very good at, but Carr actually looked sharper, fitter, younger, faster, more aware and up for it in pre season, so yeah, i'd like to see if we can get a stop gap year out of him at least, possibly more. But on the other hand i'd be delighted if we signed a proper RB and sold him.
  4. mackems.gif For a grand total of nothing. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2638462,00.html Drago deal getting closer perhaps? (for some reason i really want this guy ) Baines would be fantastic with this little lot. Anything after that would be absolutely fantastic! Someone has already jumped the gun on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivica_Dragutinovi%C4%87 listed as newcastle's new number 3! Do not know why people have the obsession of editing Wiki entries before things have even happened. Anyone tell me the satisfaction they get from doing it? I guess a fair few people on here do it, god knows why, just make us look totally fuking stupid when it doesn't come off, ie Deco. Morons. some saddo is paid to check over any edits anyway, won't be up for long Must get fuking annoyed. Imaging how pissed off he is during the tansfer window!
  5. I'll woo, when Drago comes in and were confirmed in talks with Baines. That's a major woohoo, it puts Babayaro out of the club if we get them two.
  6. Drago deal getting closer perhaps? (for some reason i really want this guy ) yeah, me too, especially after reading he was meant to be hard as f***. Won't get pushed around and turned too easily like Ramage aye me too. Big strong, takes no shit, can see him hurting a few bastards next season, is not a bad thing to have in defense, even at LB.
  7. I wanted to say the same but then thought anything after Baines is just a bonus now.

  10. Drago is nowhere near confirmed last i heard (unless something happened in the last couple of hours) he was training with his team and nothing has been talked about this side about him. Dede for near enough Heinze price is madness, considering he nearly left on a free not so long ago. Good player from what i remember but that was 5 years ago.
  11. How many of the players that went to Man City turned us down? Were not in for any of them as we simply do not have the cash to go for them, i thought i just said that already Or that Allardyce doesn't want them perhaps? He's said he's got money but the players he wants won't come because we have no European football, do you think he should just go out and spend money on players he doesn't want just to stop tarts like you whinging on a football forum? I'm a tart now for having an opinion? He said he's missed out on targets, and directed the blame towards the board, lets not forget that here. He's also said since the players he wants won't come because we don't have European football, even though they've gone through the motions of putting in bids and doing the groundwork for transfers. You sound like a tart because you're basically whinging that we haven't spent any money even though it's been made clear by manager and chairman that we have it, just the players they want are unavailable, this time tomorrow we could have brought in Viduka, Geremi, Barton, Smith, Rozenhal and Cacapa, Allardyce and Mort should be getting a pat on the back for bringing a group of players like that while spending little money in doing so, not bitched about because they haven't spent money on players they don't want for the sake of it. The funny thing is if we had brought the 6 players in we have and spent £20 million net in doing so you would be happier about the situation. No i wouldn't, that's just a stupid thing to say really, even if you are just trying to prove a point. I've done nothing but praise SA for the players he's brought in so far, but to say he's not working to a strict budget is madness. To suggest the only reason he's missed out on players is because they want European football is even more crazy. He hasn't been backed the way i hoped for, and considering how important this season will be a little bit of spending would go a long way, we'll just end up playing catch up if these ones do not work out.

  13. Thanks for the information, you should pass that onto Allardyce and Mort as they don't seem to realise that they don't have the cash. So where is it?
  14. With Cacapa's pedigree (loads of Champions League experience, Brazil caps, Lyon captain for 5 years) don't you think he could be considered for the first team right away? Big Sam hinted that one of his new signings could take the armband, he may well have been talking about Smith (English, 100% grafter, experienced etc) but he could very well have been talking about Cacapa who has captained a massive club like Lyon for five years. Not really. He's a crock ATM that we need to put right, and then he needs to adapt, then he needs to beef up to the level of the EPL. No chance is he a 1st teamer coming in nevermind captain material.

  16. People are talking about poor finish last season an no Europe holding us back but why is this not the same for Man City? Just excuses imo for us not going all out to bring in proper quality. Were planning to spend low, simple as, its not us trying and failing, its us not going anywhere near for the top quality or taking a chance on expensive English youth.
  17. Perhaps not, but personally I've always been a fan of a settled back four, particularly in central defence. I look at Liverpool where Carragher and Agger know each other inside out, Benitez will rotate his whole team but he doesn't dare split those two up. I look at Terry and Carvalho, Ferdinand and Vidic, and I'd like to see that sort of consistency here. IMO it's the most important part of the pitch for that kind of consistency and understanding. Taylor & Rozy would be my choice. Certainly need to keep Taylor at CB, those thinking of putting him to RB (formation thread) and stalling his career for a season need their head read. Rozy is the perfect partner for Taylor, well maybe not perfect, but as good as we've got, i see the new guy coming in to over coming his injuries, challenging for a place, while settling in and being a teacher for the pair, not just Taylor.
  18. I agree and I'm confident Sam will run the necessary checks on him. But I'm equally confident that, after admitting he's had to move on from a large number of his targets, he's now at the stage of the transfer window where he may have to make compromises/risks in order to get the types of players he wants. Cacapa clearly has the experience and leadership qualities he wants, and comes for nothing, therefore he might be willing to take the chance on his injuries. It does seem strange that a captain of his club for 5 years would only play 30 games once in that time. Suggests he's a good leader if noone saw fit to take the armband off him, but it also suggests he's had injury problems going back a long time. I'm trying to be philosophical about this signing, I've seen him a few times in the Champions League and he looks a good defender, definitely good enough for us. A month ago I'd have said 'meh' but now I'd say 'get him in'. We'll have to wait and see if he is capable of giving us more than 30 games a season. I doubt we need him for 30 games a season, he'll be rotation at most.
  19. Said Jesmond on SSN. Said he expected it to be done tomorrow morning. Probably did, it really doesn't matter.
  20. 'As a quick check, 20 of the 23 players we named tonight have come through (or are still among) our Academy ranks, while only 8 of the 17 players who were used have ever played a senior competitive game for the club. ' from .com so what was the point of the match then? To judge the youngsters, give them a game and incentive, and to say hello to an old pal. Full team back out for the next friendly though. I wonder if Hull knew that beforehand Probably not, but it got bums on seats (money in the coffers) and their fans went away happy. They could also be keeping Andy Carroll. if I was a Hull fan I wouldn't have been happy They didn't look unhappy last night.
  21. This looks 100% nailed on after the bit on SSN's with Smith in Gosforth and them asking if he was going to be a toon player, he replied 'hopefully, not everything is sorted yet' Well a transfer i didn't want, but he's here so he gets my full support.
