  1. Well done Banana Republic (Nate?) for overcoming Lousy Team in the final round to win our league. I was 8th, 9365 out of 907343 isn't bad at all!
  2. Why are we talking about reception? Didn't realise BT still did mobile phones.
  3. Anyone just see Avram Grant dressed up as the Emperor from Star Wars?
  4. He is currently also on billboards all around Portugal. No Cristiano Ronaldo here, it is all Michael Owen and his Tissot watches and Uma Thurman and her Alfa Romeo.

I'm ambitious, driven, motivated. Hey Chris sign me!
  6. Dave give your pessimism a rest "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" "We're not signing anyone" Newcastle United sign James Perch "We're not signing anyone else" "We're not signing anyone else" "We're not signing anyone else" "We're not signing anyone else" "We're not signing anyone else" "We're not signing anyone else"
  7. I think several African clubs have the potential to do it but they need to build up their coaches and organisation. They are at the stage where the missionaries visited South America at the moment, and it did take a few decades for South America to develop. Many teams can do it though, they just need to find their once in a lifetime player, e.g. Puskas and Hungary.
  8. Player finds a legal loophole out of his contract.
  9. Can't see Sullivan and Gold approving that. We've got Gosling IMO, transfer has echoes of Jonas about it.

Also, I suspect we let the Jloyd Samuel link play out to drive the price for Perch down.

Always knew it wouldn't be to the extent that others were making out. Chris Hughton got his man, but is it the right man? Only next season will tell.
  12. Huh? Really? Well I dont see how supporting a football club has to come exclusively ahead of all other sporting success. Obviously I've picked an example which people can't relate to as its a sport pretty much 5 people are into on the whole forum, and of course there are many who understandably have Newcastle as their number one love, but just to give another example would anyone rather Murray won Wimbledon than Newcastle qualified for the UEFA Cup?
  13. Is there any non-football sporting success that you'd celebrate over Newcastle success? For example, I'd rather a British rider won the Tour de France than Newcastle won the League Cup.
  14. 85 points almost out of nowhere for me in this round. Very happy with that considering where I was at yesterday (19 points from 7 players)
  15. I think alpal has succintly put it how I would like to see it in the rule book. A few people have very fairly asked why we are only mentioning it now, and not when other players have handled on the line. Quite simply, the incident is the first one to highlight the injustice, and has put the idea fresh in people's minds. I can't see how any team could complain about the rule being enforced against them if beyond reasonable doubt. This is not too radical in my opinion, we will see it happen once a year maximum.
  16. Would have to be beyond doubt that it was going in.
  17. You're allowed to use your hands in rugby you daft twat. You know what I'm referring to, don't be smarmy.
  18. This rule change should go above any others such as goal line technology in my opinion. Can't blame Suarez for what he did, I would, but common sense must win out. Doesn't rugby do similar?
  19. Well I'm back up to 5th. Could be doing better though, think I made the mistake of showing loyalty to players who had done well for me, as opposed to completely altering the team based on how I predict fixtures to pan out. Could be interesting to see if tomorrow can make any difference, but I've thrown all my cards into the Spain/Paraguay basket, leaving Portuguese benched.
  20. Would have caused far more problems for everyone if they changed their minds and Argentina went out.
  21. Lampard is about as good as Owen only less injured, Terry is incredibly thick and hopeless without Carvalho or Ferdinand, Gerrard was out of position, and Rooney didn't get enough service because his team mates weren't good enough.
  22. Now I think that's bollocks. Not one player should need to be motivated by the England boss to play in a World Cup. That's horseshit imo. I didn't say that they lacked motivation from the manager. Not one SHOULD be but they clearly do lack motivation. I don't necessarily think that's down to the manager, but they've played like they don't care, that they couldn't give two fucks what happened, and we've paid the price as a result - they're clearly good enough to go far in the World Cup, otherwise they wouldn't be Premier League and Champions League winners. Premier League and Champions League winners playing with Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Essien, Cech, Carvalho, Ballack, van der Sar, Anderson, Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo, Vidic, Giggs, Torres, van Persie etc.
  23. Why not get the best teams in Europe, and count the number of players from each country that play for them, the compare to England. The some of them play for the best teams in Europe argument is complete bollocks as these teams have several foreign players who are better than the English ones.
  24. The players aren't good enough, and even those more successful ones are in teams with even better foreign players. In fact, if I was manager, I'd tell Lampard, Terry and Gerrard that they aren't getting back into the England team until they prove that they can perform for another club.
