  1. Kicking aside, Given has been near faultless so far this season.
  2. Although Geremi wasn't great, we wouldn't have scored the second goal without him. His presence prevented Marshall from committing earlier and making an easy save.
  3. Don't rate Pavlyuchenko. Spurs will need to create a hell of a lot for a decent goal return.
  4. Didnt Coventry beat Man U 2-0 last season? Man Utd: Kuszczak, Bardsley (Brown 45), Evans (Carrick 56), Pique, Simpson, Nani, Martin (Campbell 45), O'Shea, Eagles, Dong, Anderson. Subs Not Used: Heaton, Eckersley
  5. I hope you're excluding Geremi because he absolutely wank, lost the ball almost every time he got it. Forgot he played tbh.
  6. Apologies if I've missed the player-specific post, this was the only one I could find Yeah, the quoted post was about Beye, and a couple posts earlier I was talking about Jonas. My assumption was that people knew who I was talking about.
  7. Am I allowed to clarify that the only player I wasn't impressed with ability wise tonight was Butt? Everyone else showed their ability, yet we failed to see a lower league side off over ninety minutes. Some of our personnel seemed happy to contain the second half scoreline, rather than try to stretch the opponent when we had the ball. That is why extra time was needed, because some of our players believed they could rely on ability alone to see them through the second half.
  8. How does the British players being in the bottom half of that list tie up with your theories on culture shocks, whereas the majority of the foreign players are in the top half? Zog has been in England long enough, Bassong was making his debut and was staking his claim, Enrique was staking his claim, Colo is exceptional and wasn't really tested. Butt's near the bottom because he was the worst player on the pitch in terms of ability. So it doesn't tie up at all. Cheers Basically my thoughts on culture shock only particularly applied to Beye and Jonas, as I had said earlier.

  10. I like it how he remains forward to offer an attacking option if we win the ball back after a set piece. I reckon he's gonna get a 30-yarder and a couple of assists this season, not to mention a few headed/tap in goals from set pieces.
  11. I like Beye, but he just didn't do enough of the running tonight. Are you going to stop talking shite at any point soon? I genuinely believe that some of the foreign players suffered a real culture shock tonight. Keegan himself alluded to such post match. And why the fuck would Beye be one of those? He has never played an English cup game against a lower league side.
  12. I wont give ratings tonight, but in order of great to less great, I'd say: Milner N'Zogbia Enrique Bassong Coloccini Owen Guthrie Given Gutierrez Butt Beye For me, only the top four in that list plus Given had the application to match the ability. Owen and Coloccini did their jobs with little fuss. The remainder showed that they were significantly better than the Coventry lot, but I was incredibly frustrated with their application.

  14. WUM Stand by my comments, if you look at our performance from about 44 mins, some players would work much harder in the Premier League, Beye and Jonas in particular. Players jogged and didn't cover the ground they normally would. Fortunately our players are good enough to do that and still win, however, the complacency that went with the limited work rate forced the game into extra time. Doubt we'll be tired against Arsenal, as we've hardly had to work for the win. Jonas? his workrate was pheonominal for the entire game  I never saw him in top gear. We know it is there, and even when not going at 100% his work rate is still better than some, but he was nowhere near the level of performance he set in the Premier League.

  17. Probably put less effort in over 120 minutes than we would in 90 minutes of a Premier League game. A very unproffesional performance by some.
  18. Don't worry about being tired versus Arsenal, we hardly burst a gut in the second half.
  19. We've been great. Dissapointed to concede the goal, but I reckon we got a bit complacent, and KK will make sure we don't do it again.
