  1. Aye well if you go on the bbc website theres the Allardyce press conference and interviews with Taylor and Harper but no one of ones with Allardyce.
  2. I can't believe people are appreciating him like. Its like when we signed Owen. Some people are getting blinded by this all of a sudden. I'm absolutely ecstatic that we've got Allardyce, and the timing. Well done for once Fred. You've only got another 56 good things to do now for you to match your amount of good things you've done with bad things.
  3. Fuck sake i wanna hear more from him but we'll probably have to wait until the mornings papers go online in the early hours now
  4. Taylor interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/player/sol/newsid_6650000/newsid_6658300?redirect=6658373.stm&news=1&nbram=1&bbwm=1&bbram=1&nbwm=1 Harper interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/player/sol/newsid_6650000/newsid_6658700?redirect=6658731.stm&news=1&bbwm=1&nbwm=1&nbram=1&bbram=1
  5. If he gets us in the top 5 by the end of the 09/10 season then he's been a success for me anyway. There will be people thinking back to when SBR was manager and we were a quality team thinking 5th in the table isn't good enough, but we have to be realistic here. We have a tiny squad. This is a big rebuilding process.
  6. Harper and Taylor interviews also up on the BBC website. Harper talks about getting rid of the players who are causing problems and don't want to be here. I wonder how long this has been going on for. None of the players came out and even hinted that any of their team-mates want to leave when he was here (although it was obvious to the fans a couple of players want away). Now all of a sudden we have Butt, Given, Harper and Taylor admitting there is problems in the dressing room.
  7. Its the most optimistic i've ever felt with a managerial appointment at Newcastle. I was too young to remember Keegan being appointed. I thought Dalglish, Gullit and Sir Bobby were good appointments when they came (and Bobby definitely turned out to be a great appointment) but there is a difference here, the main one being that the timing is absolutely spot on. The three managers i mentioned before were all appointed when the season was underway and the previous manager had brought most of the players in they had to work with. Allardyce has got 3 months to restructure the backroom staff setup and the squad and he's got a full pre-season to work with the players. He is also seems to have exactly the right ideas with regards to fitness which has been a major problem to us. We have many problems here at the minute and Allardyce seems to tick all of the boxes when it comes to being able to sort out everything. I don't expect a top 5 finish straight away. A top 8 finish would be fine with me for his first season. The thing with him is i am confident wherever we finish next season, he will build on it for the following season and we will progress.
  8. I'll give him some credit for appointing the right man at exactly the right time for the first time in his reign here. It doesn't make up for all the mistakes he has made what has seen countless of millions of the fans money chucked down the drain though. This appointment doesn't all of a sudden make up for the wrong managerial appointments, rash decisions, selling players behind managers backs, and putting the clubs name through the dirt. All i will say is good decision for a change.
  9. "Glen Roeder does not like Tetleys. I'm not making excuses because Glen Roeder doesn't make excuses, but at the end of the day the tea wasn't up to standard and the tea lady should have left. Thats not an excuse so please don't write it as an excuse, it is a reason."
  10. If we became a great team then it would happen so we would have to accept it, but i wouldn't like them.
  11. Roeder would have cracked under the psychological battle what i think Roy Keane will start next season. Big Sam will just sit on the horrible cunts head.
  12. Couldn't be happier. Said all the right things.
  13. Hmm one could have been Bridges but he left in summer 2004 didn't he?
  14. I don't know. I've read some things on here which include "Kieron Dyer", "potential" and "double figures" in the same sentance.
  15. Surprised Fat Fred never thought of the idea of buying Terry Mac one of them and the players some headphones to tell some jokes down the mic during the match to get some use out of him.
  16. I wonder if any announcements regarding backroom staff are made tomorrow in and out.
  17. Agreed about Parker as a DM. Him and Butt are more than capable in the defensive midfield role (not in the same team!). Tin hat on here but i would seriously consider letting Emre go. We need an attacking midfielder who can score goals and create things. Emre looks great on the eye when he's at his best but theres very little at the end of it.
  18. I still think Butt has a season or 2 left in him and with other areas needing strengthing i think we should keep Butt. I agree we have other priorities like. 4 defenders at the least for a start. We are DESPERATE for a midfielder who can score goals though imo. We are as desperate for one of them as we are defenders.
  19. I'm hoping we can get someone better in than Butt tbh. He's been our of our players of the season like and he's won me over but i'd like to think we could get a centre midfielder or two in who actually produce and are at a decent age.
  20. Shearer. Cancer to the club, holding us back. Greedy selfish bastard!
  21. Why does everyone want Speed back here? He was a great player for us and a top pro, but i don't understand all this support for him to come back. I wouldn't really argue against it if he did come back but i'm not exactly desperate for him to come here. He isn't the player he was now (although he's still going well for Bolton). As a coach we don't know if he will be a good coach or not. Clarkie gets so much stick on here for being a coach because he's proven nowt, but neither has Speed. Speed has been a better player and pro than Clark but it still seems like double standards. Great players don't always make great managers/coaches as well all know. Not saying Speed isn't gonna be a good manager one day because i think he will be a good one.
  22. Fucking hell just thinking how many players have wore the armband for us in the last 5 years. Shearer, Speed, Solano, Dyer, Elliott, Carr, Given, Parker, Butt, Harper, Boumsong! Thats of the top of my head like.
  23. Maybe in 7 or 8 years. He's nowhere near the finished article yet. He needs to concentrate on improving his own game, never mind leading the other players on the pitch. Wait and see who we bring in in the summer before we talk about who should be captain.
